I think @nikeskateboarding did a great job with a subtle introduction to a conversation we don't usually talk about in skateboarding. Just viewing these comments I think we can learn to be more empathetic than this. It was just a matter of time for skateboarding to address gender identity as a social construct. A couple of years ago we were all introduced to the first professional gay skateboarder BA with a big PR backing and it was awesome. Its a light hearted ad for a jacket, people. With some solid skating, smooth video work, good music, pleasant personality, and friends being friends. We all have the freedom to be whatever we want as long as we aren't forcing ideals. Nike sponsors a person that represents their brand and communities they want their brand to be a part of, just like every other brand. There is absolutely nothing about this that necessitates some of the negative comments, opinions, or discussions I see here that honestly further my embarrassment of being human. If your desire for Nike to be exactly what you want, wether for nostalgic or any other reasons, and it no longer suits you I'm genuinely sorry. It sucks when our favorite brands to go in a different direction from what made us like them in the first place regardless of the reason. But when that reason has absolutely nothing negative about it, the only right you have is to politely go kick rocks. Not spread your pointless nonsense on something like this or anywhere else you see fit for that matter in a temper tantrum because you haven't evolved into a decent person yet. I'm all about discussion and having an opinion. I personally don't agree with a majority of the alphabet people myself.
