- Grammy-winning rock duo The Black Keys joined VladTV for an in-depth discussion on their career journey. The duo, consisting of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, explained how they grew up just a few houses apart from each other and what led them to collaborate on music. They addressed why they remained a duo instead of expanding its members, as well as turning down commercials to remain true to their roots. However, Dan and Patrick revealed their financial struggles despite releasing music to critical acclaim, which influenced them to accept a Nissan ad that increased their exposure and commercial viability. They talked about collaborating with other artists, such as Danger Mouse and Ike Turner, as well as feuding with The White Stripes, Insane Clown Posse, and Justin Bieber. Throughout the rest of the interview, The Black Keys detail their Grammy-winning success, headlining shows, and much more.

Such a great interviewer. I’ve heard the story about Dan being better at guitar a million times but never about the pinky story. I’ve waited 10 years for someone to ask in detail about Dan and Jacks feud. Amazing job!
thanks!
This group is probably the most talented people I’ve ever seen you interview. I saw the black keys live 5 times and I would go see them again. I’ve followed their career since I heard the first album. Such an epic rock duo. Their live performances have all been like a magic show with the guitar solos and guest performances. I saw the Turn Blue Tour and holy shit dude the guitar solo for “Weight of Love” was the greatest guitar solo I have ever witnessed
I wish Pat would start a podcast, he's a great storyteller!
And hilarious!
@@greenmanalishi6963 Yess haha!
Ohio Players podcast.
@@Gabe_DAF Perfect!
These dudes were on No Reservations; one of the best episodes ever. Became a fan instantly after watching them.
The cool American kid in my secondary school jazz band showed us Black Keys on the computer in 2009. I love the bluesy rock style of their music. It used to be played by cover bands in the pubs when I was out drinking as a student.
More rock bands . I love people who play instruments . Very inspiring stuff
More punk, hardcore and hardcore genre bands. As well as punk genres and metal genres and extreme metal genre bands.
@@Dieafreak I agree . I like it all . Variety
@@techdeathhippie6319 All the guys from Garza Podcast should come over to Vlad Tv
I love their Great sense of humor and how grounded the band is
'...people cant agree on three sentences...' - well put Pat.
what an interview, i got so much admiration for this 2 guys, keep rocking! love ya.
This was a great one, Vlad!
Awesome interview!!! Patrick Carney is an f-ing amazing drummer. I haven't seen a drummer who can do more with less the he can do.
Uhhhh
Don’t listen to jazz - your head might explode
Love how Fab from
The Strokes knew straight away they had a hit!
This is one of your best interviews..i dont even know these duded
One of my favorite bands, probably top 5.
He needs to do more interviews with Rockstars rap stars are cool but rockstars are kinda cool in a whole other way
This is such a great interview. These guys are so funny. Hanging out with them would just be the best time I recon. AND their music is amazing 😁
Wow... and to think I saw the Black Keys & the White Stripes (not on the same bill) for like $35 each back in the day. When I heard the bit about TBK selling out Madison Square Garden in 15 minutes, twice no less, that really brought it all home.
Patrick needs 2 play those damn drums man!!
Incredible band.
Skipped over the album Magic Potion. One of their strongest
love the Black Keyes
Great interview
Tighten up and it was a commercial with Omar Epps . When I became a fan. It was on from there!
It would've been cool if they did a couple live songs. It would've been a first for Vlad TV,
Yes!!!!
❤🌵✨god bless all you brothers
I’ll be honest the Black Keys are hands down one of the best bands of the 21st century and I love hearing their story but I will say the two times I’ve seen them they played their songs a bit quicker than the album version. After hearing a song a certain way hundreds of times it kinda throws you off when it’s played sped up, but idk maybe I’m the only one with this opinion
Live , most bands are faster - which I think is cool.
Glad streaming services were discussed (41:00 - ish) but I disappointed by the "it should be made more fair" answer. Streaming services have completely obliterated the music middle class. If Spotify isn't "making a profit" - where did Joe Rogans $200,000,000 payment come from? Thank you for your content - always top notch. By the way, Ralph Carney (Patricks Uncle?) was an inspiration and a friend. I miss him.
It's mind blowing how Michael Jackson's production on that one album cost $30 million dollars is also the exact same budget as the first Shrek movie.
Interview some seattle bands from the 90s. That would be awesome
Agreed
They should hit up nirvana
@@nameless10802 no joke. Id love to hear Dave and Krist talk about that era. Pat Smear would have some good stuff to tlak about too.
Melvins
Alice in Chains
Tad
and Soundgarden would be cool
@@abovedeathpresents honestly, Courtney Love on VladTV would do what Kat Williams did on Shay Shay.
Man you need Dirty Walt from Fishbone on here, talking bout the break up of Fishbone
it was surreal
dudes jacket looks a little tight. yo.
Lit
Harmony dude that did gumbo and kids
Can't believe you didn't ask Pat to show us his stump! Smh.
it's back on
Man I been waiting for this interview. Vlad you da ish for this 1 ! Black Keys for life Bitch! Magic potion is my favorite album .
How does this Vlad guy have over 5 million subs Lol... terrible interviewer! Love the Keys but man Vlad seems like a sub 5k channel. The pause after the Keys talk and then "ok so" omg this is so bad
Vlad is so uncouth lol the massacre questions jesus
Why is that dude wearing sunglasses?
Vlad's silly ass does not listen to no black Keys
D flat is a C sharp dude just sayin haha
I like Jack White but to say The Black Keys copied him is crazy when he completely copied Flat Duo Jets to the tee! Look up Crazy Hazy Kisses and tell me I'm wrong. Everything's been done before.
Patrick has a noisy jacket around sensitive microphones. I think he did it on purpose.
Is this to get White Subscribers who don’t watch this channel?
yup
Yea because black people are huge fans of Grant Cardone.
Just to get subscribers, colour of their skin means absolutely nothing.
Good music is good music. They talk about their love of hip hop too, it's all tied together. Nothing but love y'all.
Dumb
Possibly the most overrated band of all time. 80s beer commercial music.
Overrated, obnoxious band
New keys album is great. I thought they were biting Beck at first then found it’s fucking Beck singing 😂 . I think he’s the third key now 😊.
Rock? They’re garage rock revival, post-punk revival, 2000’s indie-rock.
That’s not Rock the actual genre or Rock N roll another genre.
Thanks for snitching to vlad fellas 👍
