I put this on a mix CD for my now husband, right after we met. His wife of 31 years had just passed of cancer 6 months prior to our meeting. A few months later, he was conflicted about moving our friendship into romance. I put this song at the end of the CD. This year, we celebrated our 17th year of being together in May. we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary.
A fantastic girl sent me the link to this version on Dec. 12 of 2011. We had been together one month at that time. I couldn't keep that door open to her. I still have the E-mail with the link and a sweet little note she wrote to me. We were finally done for good in 2016. I miss her.
Dan Wilson I listened to M ward for the first time because of a friend I cared a lot, he got a girlfriend and I don't know about him since then. Sometimes I miss him. Life goes on :(
@@naystroke life does indeed go on. The only thing that never changes. Is the fact that everything changes. I hope I won't always view my life as a storyline always moving from one regret to the next
Even when he does a cover he never really phones it in. When he makes a cover, it's because he has an interesting take on it, not because he has space on his album to fill.
he always makes it his own...i just recommended his cover, `The Story of An Artist', by Daniel Johnston.....so beautifully captured, i thought he wrote until i researched it....
Good cover versoin of Pete Townshend's classic. Funny don't see anyone here mentioning the original. I guess people don't know their music history these days..

I've never met a M. Ward song I didn't like. This one is no exception.
i've never met a song
Kids will never understand how hard it was to find this version of this song...
This is happymaking!! I love his laid back singing style and quirky, smokey, bluesy voice. Awesome. I also love the "island" feel of the music. :)
such a sweet song.
Okay, this is just gorgeous.
I love this version... its kinda weird hearing it like this but its awesome :)
I have not been this crazy about an artist since Beck

I have to agree... I've always loved this version !!!

Well it's right there in the description ;-) ...M. Ward's version definitely breathes of a different air though.
Solid cover of my favorite little ditty.

awesome song..
that dobro keeps switching from morning islands to warm country licks
sublimeade not a dobro bro. Pedal steel guitar. But the instrument is often found in those genres. Music snob out.
Best alt version so far....You just got embed did on the blog "The Voice of Vexillology" for fine posting
💖
have you heard of M. Ward. I've heard some of the songs but him performing...shazam. Thought you'd enjoy.
