I sit here, after New Year’s Eve 20/21, listening to this song, which reminds me of watching Grosse Point Blank as a teenager with my late father. Everything seemed so simple. What I’d give to go back...
I'm sorry for your loss brother. You will always have the memories with your Dad at such memories are eternal. I feel the same way about present times. Don't know where life is going but definitely lost the genuine feeling of the good old days. Just don't lose faith and keep living
I adore this version. When I were a teen, I rented this soundtrack from the library and would cruise with all my windows down in my little 1990 Dodge Daytona car and blare this song. It holds a special place in my heart. Wild and free. So young and carefree. Oh, to be 17 again!
One of the greatest underrated films of all time,I’ve introduced a good 15 people to this film and they’ve all put it into their top 5. It’s just warm, despite the murderous overtone, the redemption of love clears him does it not? Welcome back pointers.
@Vamshi Krishna Grosse Point Blank - 1997, starring John Cusack and Minnie Driver. A hitman goes back to his high school reunion, with some wonderful 80s nods. Great movie.
The plotline about Dan Aykroyd trying to set up a union for hit men and getting killed by by having an old-fashioned boxy tv smashed down on his head also adds a lot to the film.
When My wife and I were first dating, I cooked her dinner, at my place and had this soundtrack playing, while we ate. We both loved this version of the song and I replayed it and told her it was how I felt about her, that she had "opened my heart." She just passed away from COVID-related causes, after 15 years together. As she lay dying, I sang it to her, and I could see her eyes move, in response. The line "When tragedy befalls you, don't let it drag you down, love can cure your problems, you're so lucky I'm around," just sets me to crying, right now; but, in a joyful way, as it reminds me how lucky I was . Rest in Peace, Barb.
Thanks for sharing your story. You are a lucky man, blessed to have know her. To me there is no mistaking when God's plan creates a story like this, not that I understand it completely but when somone can by joyful in the memory
@@Anony479 Such a beautiful story. I lost my wife of 27 years almost three years ago also with COVID-related causes. Unfortunately, I had COVID at the same time and was unable to be with her when she passed. That line reminded me of just how lucky I was to have her in my life. Haven't cried like that in a long time.
it reminds me of the moment in my life when I found true love. this song was playing on the stereo and a girl and I looked into each others eyes and at that moment realized we were in love with one another. it was a love either one of us had ever experienced. most people never find true love but some are lucky enough to find it atleast once in their life. to look into someone's eyes and see their soul is a truly amazing spiritual experience and I am happy to have had that.
As much as the full quote would be a downer, I think Prince Humperdink had it right, with the quote that begins "You truly love each other and so you might have been truly happy. Not one couple in a century has that chance, no matter what the story books say."....
I’ve been widowed 5 years now, I was married 6 together 10 years and this film was the moment he told me he loved me- I opened a world of films to him he couldn’t imagine. But his love opened the door to my heart and it still belongs to him wherever he may be! Fly high my angel but BHNML ❤️
This song is definitely one of my all time favourites... And it is SO much better than the throwaway original! Most of the times remixes can't surpass originals but this really does it. It just takes me to a different place every single time...
I love this slowed down, deconstructed and reassembled version of the song. Its funeral pace provides access to parts of the music that were glossed over in the original... Fast or slow, still a great song.
I just came across this version after listening to the original and it made me want to check out the movie since I've never heard of it before. After watching the movie and seeing the scene this song is played in the background it makes it even better. Great movie and great mix of the song!
80s crushes were as follows: John Cusak, Mathew Broderick, Michael J Fox, Robert Downey Jr., and Rob Lowe. I loved brown hair to dark brown hair but my ex fiance was blonde go figure 🤷♀️ My husband is brunette with light brown eyes 😉 it all makes sense 😂
I really in loved with this movie, Jersey Girl. I just watched the movie at 3am, can't sleep because of my anxiety about my family's situation and I really enjoyed watching this movie and yes the ending with this song hit me hard into my soul. I think I'm going to listen this song repeatedly. What a great movie to rewatch
I'm dealing with anxiety too. I got bipolar and this is the cycle for me. I believe Jesus woke me up at 2am singing this song to me. Here is a little montage I made that He may use to heal my broken heart. I suffer from all sorts of addictive behavior. Love is good! th-cam.com/video/hgYo7MNT_UU/w-d-xo.html I hope you get feeling better. ❤️
I'm watching "Take Me Home Tonight" (OK movie) and just had to hear this song again and add it to my playlist. According to the image above I must have heard it when I watched "Grosse Pointe Blank" (one of my favorite movies) and when searching for a clip with this song I noticed that I must have heard it in "Jersey Girl" (not one of my favorite movies) as well.
After Ben Affleck made an asshole of himself on TV accusing Sam Harris of being a racist basically for being an atheist and critical of Islam and would not back his prejudism with arguments nor answer SH's questions on how it made him a racist... I would say Ben Affleck is an asshole.
how many versions of my favorite song be made? This is my absolute favorite, but I love them all. Eddie Vedder and everyone in between! All the way back to high school, 82" when no one around seemed to me incredibly not moved by the original. Pete Townsend is a treasure 'to my heart!'
I agree! This is the best version of this song. I was watching the movie Take me home tonight and this is the version they use when the main character is cruising through LA at night with the girl of his dreams...

I learned it from a girl friend’s (now wife) friend’s wedding cd. Also he sneaks in a little baba o’riely at about 2:00.
no question
It really is. I always wished it was the only version cus whenever I hear the original I'm disappointed. Sorry Pete.
For my wife and me, too. Dancing to this was the best part of that day!
