Cleaning vintage razors is relaxing to do and watch. My fatboy was $10 at an antique store and was pretty grungy. Dish soap and soaking it in scrubbing bubbles (without bleach) for a few minutes did the trick. Looks brand new
Mr. SinatraLennon, I’m 18 and my dad passed away when I was 10. You inspired me to start shaving with a DE safety razor. I recently bought the “jolly rancher” synthetic brush in black and a puck of margaritas in the Arctic from west coast shaving. Your videos are awesome and let me get some “dad” time that I never had. Just wanted to say thank you!
Hey Scott! Wow. I just can’t begin to let you know how much this means to me. Hearing that I’ve had some positive impact on someone makes doing this all worthwhile. I really mean it. I’m so sorry for the loss of your Dad. Take care and keep in touch!
I use Stain-Away denture/mouth guard cleaner for cleaning razors. In an 8oz cup, add hot water, one cupful of Stain-Away, let it fizz up. Then drop razor in, let sit for about 20 minutes. Remove, scrub with old toothbrush and rinse. Squeaky clean!!
Hey, you should clean the razors with Barbasol - this is what we use all the time to scrub the gunk off the headlights. Same way with a toothbrush and let it sit in the container for a bit before scrubbing. Also, I will keep offering my help for that stream 😀 I love the family stories you share with us! Cheers !
Awesome, yet again a good find, seems to be few hidden somewhere in the US🇺🇸 no such luck here in the UK, can’t find one ☝️ never mind two 🤘 Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃
Have a Fatboy G1 on its way from LA to the UK as I type. You are an Ambassador for the $1.95 Gillette Adjustable sir. Still more than happy to purchase one of your spare Alamo's! I know I have said before but if the opportunity presents itself do try to acquire a 1960's Schick DE and review it on here. They are well built and give an excellent shave.
You never fail to entertain and inspire Sinatra Lennon. I think I am going to have to get out my 1965 Gillette Slim adjustable for my next shave. I am to be pitied. I do not have a Fat Boy.
I just want to say, I turned on one of your older videos (around a year ago) and you can really see the difference that your intermittent fasting has done!
Mr SinatraLennon, I enjoyed your video, it's a mint find, not one but two Gillette fat boy, thumbs up for that. I search antique stores and flea markets was I lucky found a patented Gillette with aluminium handle made in Argentina for that was half the fun, for the best part Is to clean it out and see the shiny metal ready to be used once more, really appreciate your videos.
Great video again. The Alamo razors are a great find. Fortune to be able to check them out before buying. Ebay is a bit of a minefield. Looking forward to your next video. 🏴👍
Fatboys are pretty nice looking razors. I got myself a Rockwell 6s now though (after a bit of saving), Can't wait for it to arrive so I can try it out :D
Hey Brian, that cleaning part was really fun and relaxing to watch - thanks! I normally let sit new to me vintage razors for a couple hours in really hot water with dish detergent, then tooth brush with dish detergent followed by tooth brush with Bref Power (like scubbing bubbles), and then a bath in my chaep ultrasonic cleaner for the internals, then again tooth brush with dish detergent and finally a bath in rubbing alcohol. What survives this treatment would survive a nuclear strike, so I think I am fine... :-D Take care and best regards from Germany, Dan.
Hey SinatraLennon, GEMs are my favorite razor! For me the blades make me think of Scarface, lol :) Im a single edge fanboy and I also love my Thorn. I dont have any vintage DE razors like a Gillette Fatboy, but I am definitely a fan of Barbasol (they are headquartered in my backyard).. I just got some 1919 and I use it as a pre -shave it I definitely recommend it for that!
A great shave with an old maid, who says future technologies are better. I had a tortoise once, took it for a walk in the park, through a stick for it, I'm still waiting for it to return, that was 3 years ago 😵💫
I've had good success soaking a grungy razor in Simple Green for a few hours. The old scum and gunk just falls away and disappears with a scrubbing with a toothbrush. Dry, shine with some Flitz and maybe a spritz of WD40 or silicone spray if it's has moving parts.
When you say Crocket all I can think of is “and Tubbs”. You should do a March Madness Final Four with all your Fat Boys and declare a champion. I have Grampa Grungy in my bracket.
@@nathanieldaiken1064 Same here, out of my price range. Hoping to find one at an estate/antique/thrift shop. Might take a little work, but it's not like I don't have enough razors!
so far i haven´t bought a used DE Razor, out of those i´ve got some copies others original, but all never used by others than me. great video and shave incl. cleaning lol i baptize, you in the name of the holy shaver, FATboy ...all fun stuff. Stay safe, cheers....Peter
Thanks for the video, i'm searching for a vintage gillette at a good price to clean but prices are way to high here in my city :( Is the giveaway still open? I have a friend who would like to join
I bought my ‘58 Fatboy off an eBay auction that had bought it from an estate sale. The man probably got it when he was a teenager and used it his whole life.
Have to be honest, you should really consider keeping your hair style like this, the spikey point in the front throws the hair off, just my honest opinion.
You can baptize the razor in barbasol. But you're not truly baptized by the razor until you get a nick. Just got my first fat boy and I look forward to using it. Until the next video, you take care of yourself. Adios Chico Gordo
If it wasn't even across the pond, I would say yes, get in touch if you want to sell the Fat Boy, here in Germany they are usually quite expensive, but with postage and customs it would come out to the same again. But "don't take it apart because there's nasty stuff in it" but put it in your face anyway? What I can't see doesn't exist 😀
Davy Crockett was the oldest. Born 1786. Bowie was born 1796 & Travis was born 1809. So maybe the 1959 s/ b Crockett & the 1960 could be Bowie. By another & you can call it Travis. Maybe on another excursion. Lol (VLS)

I hope SL sees this. This is a genuinely wholesome post. I'm sorry about the passing of your dad. I know it's been a few years now, but my condolences

Finding stuff at an antique store is so much more fun than online and you know what you’re getting and usually more affordable
This is a "took a shower, did my hair" classic.
Speaking of vintage razors my mom gave me her grandpas 1955 super speed with the flair tip and he never used i just cleaned it up now its a new razor

Anytime I feel like crap I just watch one of your videos always makes my day
And your comment just made mine. I’m very fortunate to have people like you that watch my videos and take the time to let me know. I appreciate it.
love the vids. I just got a merkur progress which should be a great addition to my twig, and the start of my collection
i love that you mentioned guitars i have so many guitars that i just use everyday they have so much ware

I was gonna ask for a cleaning video. I’m on the hunt for an old razor. Thank you

Awesome vid and I wish I had been born in or before 1959
Great video! Maybe try to get inside the razor some mineral oil through the base or the baseplate opening to smooth out the inner works.

Awesome Alamo finds 🤙
If you want to do an 80s flashback, try Crockett and Tubbs ;-)

Any live videos coming soon? Always enjoy those.
“Up The Alamo”👍
At a flea market here where i live i saw a gem razor
Bolzano blades....... what do think of them?
Love your hair mr lennon
"So, I took a shower, did my hair"
- Sinatra Lennon
What about the Gillette fatboy bottom dial. That be the holy grail of all vintage razors. I’m currently on the hunt for one.
You inspired to give my own fatboy a good clean. This was oddly satisfying to watch, so don't feel like this was a strange idea.
Hey Christopher Walken, Where’d SinatraLennon go!?!? 🤣🤣😜
Excellent video 📹 👏 👍
You should try fairy liquid next time that's good for me with a tooth brush
Sinatra do you have t shirts that say took a shower did my hair?
I'd buy one of those!
I don’t but I should offer them!
Yeah you should bro.
Crockett "Tall Tails" and Bowie "Knife" make sense to me.
I like the shirt keep it up
flitz , will further clean your razor, polish w felt micro cloth
What does your soap, razor, aftershave collection look like?
When you say Crocket all I can think of is “and Tubbs”. You should do a March Madness Final Four with all your Fat Boys and declare a champion. I have Grampa Grungy in my bracket.
Hello buddy great video i enjoy it very much i hope you have a great day today
Still looking for a '58....ah, the thrill of the hunt!
I want a 1958 D2 (birth year!). The closest ive found is a 1959 E2 for $89.99. Too rich for me!
@@nathanieldaiken1064 Same here, out of my price range. Hoping to find one at an estate/antique/thrift shop. Might take a little work, but it's not like I don't have enough razors!
Scrubbing Bubbles is made for soap scum removal, plus it's also a disinfectant
Nice shave. Tooth paste will not scratch the finish. If it would, why the hell would you use it on your teeth?
Great point! Some people get skittish about things…

Yes, have your friend enter the drawing!
I bought my ‘58 Fatboy off an eBay auction that had bought it from an estate sale. The man probably got it when he was a teenager and used it his whole life.
Werid as it is u got me into shaving safety razor and I love shaving now and thanks for all u do for all of us
My pleasure!
If it was me I would send it in to Razor Emporium and have it restored to its original condition.
I had that done once but it didn’t shave as well afterwards. Don’t know why.
Did you let RE know about that? Maybe the could have fixed the problem.
Have to be honest, you should really consider keeping your hair style like this, the spikey point in the front throws the hair off, just my honest opinion.
Great video I’d love to win a giveaway never used a safety razor before Mr Lennon
