    I zip tied mine to the top of an old dead tree over a year ago and have had excellent results ever since. I watched this video because I was thinking I should mount it more professionally. Now I'm thinking if it aint broke, don't try to fix it

      Jerry rigging is a great idea if you are going to be cheap but I live in a hurricane prone high wind area and Zip ties on a dead tree will not work. A good wind will take it down. Good job to you though you went EL CHEAPO.

      You're right about florida hurricanes. I live here too in the panhandle. I did end up ordering the pole adapter and installed it on my pole barn with a heavy 10' steel pole welded to my steel trusses. It did do fine in that tree for a while though. I put it there for a quick test and never took it down and also never had a problem. I've been lucky.

    Enjoyed the WIFI, but Starlink's customer service is close to worthless. Had it not been for Mr. J Christina's videos I would not have figured out how to "communicate" with Starlink. The email and thumbs down method gave me access, but Starlink's responses to
    simple questions were ridiculous ! After 3 months I sold my "Roam" gear and transferred my serial # etc to someone else using the excellent videos.
    Again thank you Mr. Christina for all your videos/help ! After reading other comments below, I can see that the monthly cost will continue to rise and make it prohibitive. I don't do a lot of streaming or downloading so my phone carriers WIFI (Mint) is just fine.
    I also see I paid $100 more through Starlink to buy my gear, when I could have purchased through Best Buy !

    I got my system running in about 30 mins. Though I am curious as to why the chap in the video says your Starlink dish will face north if it is in the northern hemisphere. I am in the Scottish Highlands west of Inverness. My dish faces south! But it works. 😊

    • @AgentExeider
      @AgentExeider ปีที่แล้ว +13

      He most likely misquoted, Sat devices like Starlink are supposed to face south in the NORTHER hemisphere and north in the SOUTHERN Hemisphere, because the satellite networks run in a band using the equator as the center point.

    • @Mike-mr8ui
      @Mike-mr8ui ปีที่แล้ว +22

      @@AgentExeider That's not accurate. You are describing systems that use geostationary satellites. Starlink uses hundreds of satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), and the dish will point to the part of the sky with the highest concentration of satellites at any given moment.

    • @robertbenoit5374
      @robertbenoit5374 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      you need a drill and a boring bit to drill through the wall or if you have brick/cement a mason bit to run the wire through. Starlink sells the installation kit on their website but I didn't purchase my system on their website. My reason is because until you actually sign up for the service, you don't have access to their website which is a load of BS in my opinion. I bought mine on Amazon (Ironic as Amazon will soon have a competing product once they get approval from the FCC and FAA) My point is I don't like having to be forced into something until I am ready.

This is kinda odd, and considering how much it cost, I would have expected the router to have at least 1 or two Ethernet ports, especially considering this is not a portable setup, and wired connections work a lot better in a house with walls, not to mention most PC's don't have a wifi card built in, so now I gotta go shopping just to connect my pc to my router

    Ok, so our service address acoording to google maps isnt anywhere near where our address actually is. This makes it impossible to setup. That, and the fact that my brand new cell phone does not have the features. Who is around to help? Also, I do not have noticeable cellular reception at my address.

      Your phone doesn't come with the app or more commonly known as "program" for operation.
      You need to read the instructions and use the app program to find the signal for your area, then set up the signal collector dish, and it should find the signal from the satellite itself.
      If you're not tech savvy, you'll need to hire a tech to install for you.
      I set mine up in 25 mins.
      But I'm very tech savvy.
      Good luck!

    By far the worst internet service I've ever had. I'm in the country, so it was my only option. But if you like paying 160-200$ for internet that suddenly drops 15-20 times on a clear sunny day, then by all means, purchase it. If you have any other option besides satellite, get it. Or maybe to take camping it's OK. But for the price and what it doesn't offer, I can't wait to toss it in the dump. I see why people are complaining about tesla now, too. It just isn't worth the price. This product is a step backwards. I now understand why there is no customer support line. Because that line would be ringing non-stop 24/7. I'm the only person playing a game with consistent 999 ping. Awesome product.
