Very helpful and love how you got the whole family involved including the cat LOL I have a 1995 XT 225 and I get 90 miles per gallon. My dad had a 1978 XT 500 very fun to ride.
Love my bike as well (2007). Thanks for this - husband forwarded it to me to prep me for doing what you just did. And we have a fig tree as well :-) (But no cat - 3 guinea pigs instead)
Mine also isn’t to fond on cold starts needs the choke as well , I use 10-30 Lucas that’s what the manual was calling for think it makes much a difference with 10-40?
Rotella T 15-40 is a great inexpensive oil closer to the factory recommended 20W/40. Also the factory filter can be cleaned with a shot of brake cleaner or soaked in varsol etc and be reused many times. They are a great small cc dual sport!

It's great to see you guys again. Those dirt bikes are so much fun to ride. Thanks for the tutorial on oil changing. See you on the next one.

Shouldn’t make much difference. The 40 would have higher viscosity and do slightly better in high temps.
