Make sure to keep track of everything that can be a deduction on your taxes, as most gig jobs will have you fill out a 1099. You can claim deductions for mileage, per diem, business expenses, and more!

Thanks for bringing this up I can see it's received a lot of attention. The only thing with taxes is I don't want to give you incorrect information as I'm not a tax professional or CPA . I'm an expert in what I know and don't pretend to be a tax expert, hope you guys understand.
When it comes to taxes for the past 2 years I've done Turbo Tax self employed, they just ask you what 1099 income sources you have, you'll list gross revenue then corresponding mileage. They'll also ask if you want the standard mileage deduction or itemized deduction and you'll follow the respective prompts.

Drive thru orders are very convenient but late at night is trash. Ive waited at McDonald's for 40 minutes before. And taco bell typically will be out of food close to closing time. Restaurants dont have as many employees later at night ive noticed and thats when everybody wants to go get some drivethru food. Its a waste

I wish you could do a survey that set your preferences for these apps. Turn off/dislike/ favorite certain merchants and the algorithm would adjust to that. I got a jewel shop and deliver for $39 to go like 6 miles away a while back, loveeee. Today I took a shipt Best buy drop off and on the way I got a walmart in store pickup drop off for $32/5 orders, 1 bag each. So it was 2 pickups (bby/ walmart) and 6 drop offs, alot of miles but the shipt bby order was perfectly on the route for the DD walmart order and all of it was $55 for about 1 hours worth of work. Good day:)

Another important thing to consider is where the drop-off will leave you...sometimes I get decent orders that take me to areas that are purely residential, with no restaurants around...so I have to drive back to an area where there's a probability of orders...so I am "riding empty" as truckers say. Important to consider this.

Man..NV has insanely bad base pay && incoming orders. I gave DD a try back in early 2019 just to check it out & it wasn't bad in SoCal. Fast forward to now, I need extra flow & have moved to NV. It blows my mind at all the $3 dashes for 6+ miles and rarely any peak pay past $2. I stay away from the strip because its SO much effort for literal crumbs. Beyond frustrating. Made $65 today (Fri) while out on the road for 6hrs!! Found this page while waiting on orders & look forward to the content. I hope it helps me here!!

The problem is where I live we never ever get more than 2 dollar peak pay and it's usually only 1 dollar and doesn't happen very often. We simply cannot make that kind of money here. The tips always suck and we are forced to take 5 and 6 dollar orders because that is about 90 percent of the orders we get 5 percent are lower and don't get accepted and the other 5 percent are the occasional 7 and 8 dollar orders

Fathers day, mothers day, valentines, admin day, boss day, etc. I worked mothers day last year (my mom lives in a different state) and I averaged $70 an hour on a four hour shift. As for taxes, use a tax program. I use tax act and while I declared 5700 last year, I paid zero taxes on my doordash side gig.

Most of the time you have to go inside and shop yourself which gonna take lot of time for the amount of money paid. Yeah here in kansas city it does not matter what area you are in you will never receive more than $1 peak pay. with that being said in order to get the biggest orders, prepare for your acceptance rate to TANK (which btw does not matter as there is no minimum) as you will have a decline until you get the orders you are happy with. Peak pay should not be counted in your picking a delivery. As in peak pay is $3 and you get one for $9 at 5 miles. That means your tip may be as low as $3-4 so not worth your time. Now $3 peak pay and the delivery is $12 at 5 miles is gravy. Tip may be at least $5-7 we go through a lot for low tips. Tips are how we make our money DD does not give great paying deliveries so we have to make sure the base pay, and tip is more or the same as our lowest acceptable pay without the peak pay. But if no orders are coming through $10 is $10. We all have our choices of what we take or don't take.

Just a note is very different in Columbus GA, snsllish town not CALI, so when you mention good and bad amounts of money, it is all relative to one's area. I loved your idea of a spread sheet comparing peak pay to non peak pay. I also have been finding that Saturday is so saturated with drivers that I do much better during the week. Even though the orders tend to be for less, the resteraunts are much quicker, less backed up. And more orders because there are less drivers.

My issue is that dd keeps trying to push me out of my zone and constantly tries to force me into a couple of cities over in a dangerous area.. So ive had to start declining orders & I've gotten less work ever since. Everyone says that acceptance rates dont matter but i would get back to back and frequent stacked orders until i declined my first order & now i wont get an order for my first hour of dashing & will often have 15 or more minutes in between orders. Even next to restaurants i know are getting flooded & its very busy in the area. I worked a thursday in a not very busy area and could not catch my breath vs now on busy weekends where i have downtime?? Its a bummer

Hi Jerry, when delivering always confirm the name. So in that case I would say, "You're waiting for DoorDash? Great, what's the name? [of the order customer]". This reduces the risk of fraud from someone taking an unauthorized order.
For your scenario I would simply detail what happened with support and mention how this person was assuming to be the customer. Going forward very the order name of anyone accepting an order.

To be honest, I don't like the shopping with the card or even the items to purchase with the card on the drive thru because it takes too much time. Although just watching and listening to your videos helps me out alot to try and make more money on a weekly pay. I try so much to not take the low paying orders because it takes too much of my time, when I should concentrate on the bigger payouts as you have mentioned. And I took the part the part when you said that a Hotspot does not really give you something to deliver. I've tested it and that is so true. With Doordash they will not give me a delivery right away until I have confirmed the deliveries. Uber on the other hand gives me deliveries continously even before I confirmed a delivery which Uber really keeps me busy throughout the day, nights, and mornings. Thanks again for your videos and tips.

My Peak Pay yesterday night from 4-7:30pm was so bad that I didn't ger any order for 1and half hours. Then I just quit for the night and went home. It was frustrating to be scheduled for the peak pay and I drove 30 minutes to the peak pay area and then waited and waited. Then went to 3 hot spots and got no orders. Doordash app needs to be improved to that if there's too many drivers delivering for the night, they should just straight up tell you to go home. Sometimes its very disappointing on what Doordash do to people trying to make a decent pay.

    • @lover2ed134

The secret is don't dash in peak pay areas. You have to be top dasher to do so because doordash gives them priority over everyone else. Instead dash in a zone with the smallest peak pay or none at all. Trust me it works because everyone and their momma is rushing to the peak pay areas leaving the other areas wide open with very little competition.

I would love to see a video that walks me and talks me through a full door dash after the fact... so record it in the moment, leave that hard to focus background music out, and talk me slowly through the process of an order coming in - what do you look at, what helps you to decide whether to take the order or not, what are the things you consider? Once you take the order, talk us through the details of how the app works from there. My first order took me forever to figure out how to do everything in a timely manner and I ended up getting tagged as not having delivered it on time, when in fact, I had delivered it at least 5-10 minutes early. Also, where do you put your purse? Some of the areas I deliver to are not the most trustworthy and full of character, integrity, and respect. I worry about my purse when I jump out to run a delivery up to a house.
Things I found hard to figure out on my first day dash today:
    1. How do I look at the screen and know whether it is worth my time and drive?
    2. How do I know what the full amount of miles will be?
    3. Once finished, do I drive back toward a hotspot to pick up another delivery or stay where I'm at?
    4. Is there a way to tell where I'm being sent ahead of time? (I live in Indiana and it sent me across the border to a rough neighborhood in Illinois today. I grew up in a neighborhood like that and I know what goes on. I was not prepared and should never have been over there.)
    5. How do you go into the app and send the customer a text? Are you doing this through the app or through your own text message?
    6. I actually live in a rough and unsafe area... How do I drive to a safer area where I can work? Do I have to find the hotspot or can I just go to the area and then pick up orders from there?
    7. What app or process do you use for tracking mileage, vehicle maintenance, etc?
    8. I know I'm missing some things. For a type A - Highly sensitive personality and a total introvert (functional introvert but nonetheless...), I was a little overwhelmed with it all. I wish I could have had time to play in a "test" version to really learn my way around the app and figure out how to navigate it but because they don't offer that, I need a video that at least takes the time to show these things - and preferably, a previously recorded dash that has been gone back through and voiced over to explain everything...

The problem I've come to recently is that I've had to contact customer service unassigned orders at times when I didn't get a chance to see how long the drive was because the app started glitching up and I didn't want to miss it. they tried to get me to drive from South lake Tahoe to Tacoma which is on a Friday night an hour each way 33 mi each way for $17 at a Safeway. Then I got another order for a 13 Mile drive for like $7 and I wasn't paying attention and could not assign it. I started watching some door dash videos videos and realize that cherry picking is probably the best method instead of accepting every order that comes through. after I started doing this I noticed that they started to give me a lot of three and four and five dollar orders literally seven to ten I've been a row and I have been putting me in pause mode every 30 seconds until I and my dash just to get me off of the platform and signed out. They've actually signed me out several times during dashes when I minimize the window.

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for watching Jonathan, tricky because I notice a few things there. Firstly of course make sure to pay attention to the order request screen so you don't accidentally accept sub par orders. Second as you continue to dash you'll pick up on market specific averages. What I mean is maybe a $8 payout is the highest it typically gets there, maybe $7. Regardless that dollars:mile is key. As far as the time outs also drive on other platforms if you don't already because maybe DD just isn't that strong in your market for drivers. I wouldn't lower my pay standards, I would continue to ignore low payouts which is good
