- Chelsea Wolfe sticks to her guns with her reverberated, hazy, and distant cover of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds 1994 song "I Let Love In." But while the recording style and aesthetic is very much Wolfe's, the melody sticks with Cave's original, creating a compelling listen.

The best part about this cover is that it doesn't just ape the original, it takes that inspiration in a different direction. It would be a mistake to attempt to one-up Nick Cave, and she doesn't. She takes the spirit of the song and retells it in her own voice. Bravo.

Absolutely. Imitation is the weakest form of flattery but homage is powerful praise. When blueunicorn does a cover blueunicorn makes it blueunicorn's own. The playlist is still labeled "imitation is the weakest form of flattery" though. I doo goofy stuff though.

Profound cover. I like her vocal melody more than Nick's in original.
punches me in the gut everytime. I don’t know what it is about this song. It’s an over reverberated mess of a thing that defies much reason. Its the opposite of a clear production, but its not lo-fi. Its messy, but I think the landscape and vision read really clearly.
I think it’s successful at being transformative while respectfully building on Cave’s idea.
Here on the wiser side of a decade later, i still think it’s brilliant.

Kind of foggy sounding. I want to fuddle with the radio dials to get it to come in clearer.
Janice Sunseri, I think that “lo-fi” effect was purposeful. CW is usually heavy on the fuzz and reverb, and I think it gives it an oddly timeless nostalgic flavor tbh.
But I would definitely love to hear a clearer live version. Still a 10/10 in my book.
CW introduced me to NC when she did this cover. I still love it and have grown to love NC too.
