- A view of the emergency release cord for LiftMaster, Chamberlain & Craftsman garage door openers with the T-Rail and I-Rail design. Shows how to release the door from the motor rail and lock the release mechanism so the door stays on manual operation. Craftsman & Chamberlain motors may have a different design on more recent models. On those units, you simply; pull the cord towards the door to release, and pull the cord upwards toward the motor head to place in the lock position.

Thank you!! I love the explanation and how you broke it down. Very helpful for us folks that don't work with garage doors that often.
Dude your a lifesaver. I pulled on it by accident and was able to fix it thank you so much
TH-cam wins again. Our shop door broke at the end of the work day and couldn’t call in the facilities guys because they were already home. Saved some time and money thanks to you

Thank you for this. I could not reengage my door for anything, until I found your video. Exactly what I needed to know to fix the door in a minute. Phew!!
Thank you for making this video available!
Thanks a lot. I was planning on disassembling everything to figure it out. Your video saved me a lot of time, headache and probably a little bit of money. Thanks again
its 2 degrees today, our power went out, we were able to manually open the door, but couldn't figure out how to re engage the door. after 3 trips out and "coming in to warm up " I googled it and yelled the information out the door. 2 seconds we were done. many thanks
Simple and easy. Thank you!
Thank you for the demonstration
Thank You so much for this video..we had a power outage in our neighborhood and i was cleaning in the garage and pulled the emergency cord to open the door so i could have some light to keep working and then when the power came back on i couldn't get it to catch back and couldn't engage the automatic door opener..watching your video made me realize it was in that locked open position..It's fixed !!!..and you saved me from calling my Husband at work and looking like a dumb Woman!..LoL..Thanks!
I'm glad it was helpful. I found many people do not know about this feature. Thanks for watching.
I have a battery backup on mine. So I don't have to pull any cords.
Thanks for the video tip. Much appreciated 👍😊
lifesaver, thanks
Thanks, fixed the problem!
You are a lifesaver.
I did it!!! Thanks so much
The plate is stuck and not releasing for manual disengagement
Thank you 👍 👍
Great thanks.
Just saved me from my dad yelling at me
What is the part that the rope hooks to? Mine is missing.
my mom was crying cuz she thought she had to call the landlords lmfao
Same, my mom accidentally pulled on the string and now im here lol
Edit: i fixed it in 10mins thanks to this video and other stuff on the internet
What do you call the part that moves along the rail when the emergency release is pulled? Mine wont stay on the rail so when it tries to reengage where the emergency release part is, it bangs against it cuz only half of it is on the rail
I need help I accidentally pulled the cord and my garage door won’t open now
Hi, my release WON'T release. It is stuck somehow. Any advice, please?
