I have owned my M3 e93 for the last 13 years, the M Performance is way better than stock, the camera mic does not pick up the hollow echo sound you get while driving around with M- Performance just amazing compared to stock especially with the roof down
I've always loved inline six engines more than V8s and I will always love the E36 mostly because of its timeless design and amazing sound with the right mods (waaay better than the E46 to me), but damn...the noise of this S65 is definitely heaven stuff. 😍
I’ve owned my E90 for 2 years now and I think that it sounds good with the stock setup. It does not *need* upgrades. But the right upgrades make it definitely better. The M Performance exhaust gives it a more exotic, hollow and metallic rasp that the previous M3’s delivered. Eisenmann for example gives it the more typical V8 noise. Outside noises are cool, but on this car the most important is how it sounds inside the cabin. That’s the magic of this car.
Not really. VTEC gives EXTRA torque around highest revs... this doesn't. E92 M3 is still strong in high revs! but not AS strong as around 6000 rpm for example. (This is the same for most high revving sports cars/supercars like Carrera GT or Ferrari 458) VTEC is unique in the way that it really gives you that extra punch around max revs.
Fun fact: a Pagani Zonda (road versions, not the R version) loses so much of the torque at high revs that it doesn't really feel like a racy engine. Yes, it has the sound, but not the high revving character. That engine is more about low rev torque (like a SL65).

I'll be honest! I have never been a BMW fan, and this particular engine has well-known design problems. if I could keep one expensive car, I'd would choose a stock manual M3 e92 with my eyes closed! I'm in love with this car!
OEM sounds way better. The M-performance gives it a metallic, raspy sound that's unpleasant. @0:47 you can hear the resonance echo in the muffler plating, the metallic "after sound".
Euro cars come with all the good bits from the factory. They don't really need aftermarket exhausts or tuning as the gains aren't huge. (Turbos excluded)

Glad you enjoy your E93, but added over 800lbs of weight plus negatively utility and ruined roofline made it a no-go for me.

sounds 20 percent louder and keeps the character very close to stock just louder and excentuates/compliments the stock feel
Its an amazing car indeed.. I dont have the Eventuti instead I opted for the Karbonius plus a custom exhaust and downpipe.
