He doesn't miss a beat from issue to issue and the sound of frustration doesn't leave throughout vids 1&2 😂. I was thoroughly entertained while learning and he knows what he is talking about. Awesome videos.
Also, he mentioned guys treating quads like boats. I tell friends and family, it's stupid! Buy a freaking boat. I'm not destroying my machines to "look cool" in front of drunk idiots yelling " yeah, send it" who aren't going to be around when I'm paying a lot of money and spending a lot of time making repairs.

@@tylerwright4254 I’ve talked to my dealer that sell Polaris and can am. They mostly drive Polaris. They said the main problem they have with Polaris is the voltage regulator. Everything else is fine.

    • @tylerwright4254
      @tylerwright4254 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@bikingwithryan5968 voltage regulators are definitely garbage. Bushings are trash. Wheel bearings are garbage as well. Plastics fade and scratch easy. There plenty of issues just not super major. If you have a 850 the pinion plate needs to be upgraded or it will explode. Axles are like toothpicks on 570 and up. The springs are extremely warm out very quickly. Steering is sloppy on all models. Changing gears is clunky and not smooth. Stock tires are alright but puncture easy. I ride Polaris and wouldn’t ride anything else but they all have common issues.

Love this! One of our riders in our group bought a 450 2019 I believe and last trip to H&M before the first ride his throttle broke. We found a local ATV/UTV garage and asked them about Polaris and their response "We love 'em, we make a lot of money off 'em...we hate Honda and Yamas 'cause they never break!' Also his belt would get wet in the smallest puddles and we would be waiting for him to dry it out to continue our ride - since added a snorkel kit for him. I'm showing your vids to him knowing I now have some future work because I am the mechanic in the group!

4 years of ownership and not one single problem with mine. I use mine for trail riding in the Ocala National Forest where I live, I pull fence with it, pull a utility trailer hauling firewood. I use the winch often to lift things. The wheel bearings installed at the factory are not high quality yet with 283 hrs on the machine they are still with me. Make sure you grease them regularly.I think the haters are like jeep haters. They use the vehicle in a way it was not designed to operate and then cry when it breaks. It's not a submarine and the drive train was not designed to spin huge mud tires in thick mud. Used correctly these machines provide years and years of reliable service.

ive got a 2019 850, and have had no issues.. beit that i have done the cecco braces, pinion supports, 2 " lift and the sway bar clamps. i put the front and rear bumpers on which help the look tremendously. i think the foot wells could have been given more clearance in the front of the rear tires. i used mine for woods wheelin' and plowing/ work around the farm, its been great. i keep it greased and well maintained. i do have to address the sticky shifter though.. replace the steel winch cable with synthetic. I went through breaking 2 steel cables and not one synthetic yet.

There isn’t a machine out there that isn’t junk. It does not matter what make and model you buy. They make them cheap . It’s a lot like buying a truck. Made from aluminum with plastic bushing and no rime or reason for the way it’s built. It’s made cheap. Just take a real good look at your machine. Can it do all the things the dealer or manufacture says it can do. Yup. For how long. And then it’s back to the parts department.

I have a 2016 Polaris sportsman 570 xp with power steering and I love it. Only ever had to change the belt and it was super easy. I do grease all zerks with Silicone Grease that costs 10 bucks and a new grease gun that only costs 10 bucks, no issues. My dad has a Yamaha Grizzly 700 and it's a beast quad. Very smooth ride. He also owns a 900 Polaris Ranger XP and we love it. I still love my Polaris 570. We can all find something wrong with every vehicle or motorcycle on the planet, and make a list of it. This shouldn't phase anyone from buying a Polaris.

Start by saying I couldn't Love my Sportsman XP 1000 but you are spot on and everything you said I made my own upgrades to air filter RC2 it's reusable, Steel skid plates, sway-bar clamp, HD 1/4 steel frame bracers on everything ,BALL BEARINGS suspension no more greasing, spare one way bearing , spare thumb throttle and upgrade to the Gates C12 belt and the OEM for a spare belt . And I will add one more thing you don't know about is on the EPS models like my Sportsman XP 1000 is that the steering coupler splines get loose and must be upgraded or fixed I fixed mine by drilling it out and put in a 5/16 grade 8 bolt and tighten it up till it all most going to break and it's still tight 500 miles later.

That steering issue is unique to the power steering models..but the lose steering in general is not. I believe it is caused by the bushings wearing out and the way it mounts to the top of the diff.

Had a 2011 Polaris sportsman XP 850 . It blew a piston rod out the side. Couldn't find a block so ended up buying a 2015 sportsman XP 1000. It blew the front differential while in 2 wheel drive. That was a problem they knew about but never fixed on warranty. Also blew the tranny. I was pushing snow into a bank then couldn't get it out of drive. No more Polaris for me.

I bought my sportsman brand new in 1999 , front wheel hubs oil bath , grease fittings every where , 500cc Docks , that engine always fires right up , back in 1999 it was voted four wheeler of the year , but that was a different time in 99 maybe they were a little more interested in building a machine stronger and easier to maintain , now its all about paying more for less anyway I still have her , thanks .

My 2013 Scrambler Xp is going on 2000 miles, has original battery still, driveline fluids changed twice, original front diff, basically all stock. Its been good so far, I was skeptical when I bought it. I don't do deep mud or any water past the footrests really. Gets greased once a season. Original drive belt still. It gets fairly gentle trail ridden or touring dirt roads and trails with my wife as passenger. Maintenance goes a long way, Polaris atvs can't just get used and used without maintenence like a Honda or Japanese branded one can. However, until the Japanese build one with 80hp, I will keep riding my Polaris. It takes maintenence to go fast....

Man this is really good to know…I’ve have a 2000 Yamaha Big Bear 400. She still runs great…but she’s 2 wheel drive so she’s limited. I was looking at the 700 Kodiak or whatever animal they call it. Was doing some side by side comparison with Polaris 850 for $1500 less. More power less money…sounded great, until I start digging. If my Yamaha has given me one thing…it has been a mechanically sound brute. The only things I’ve had to do in 22 years is as follows.
Battery, engine oil, air filters, breaks, tires, and the big one shaft rear seal. Swear to our good God that’s it.
I like all men always want more power and more speed…but from my research I’m not willing to give up the Yamaha reliability.
Appreciate your candid brutally honest assessment of a personally owned machine.

Anything better then factory. I plan on basic trail riding maybe a little mud no higher then 3/4 the tire. Sand and river sand water conditions. Nothing much over the tires. What are your opinions about those tires you got. Few diff brands have exact same pattern but I’m curious about performance

I have a 2012 850 touring model, never had one thing break on it. Mostly desert riding and now trail riding in FL. No I don't submerge mine, maybe thats why I haven't had any problems. I do occasionally pull a 5x8 trailer loaded with fire wood and always use low range. Replaced my belt about a year ago, and the old belt looked almost new which really surprised me. I've ride mine pretty hard a lot of days, but not crazy stupid as some people do, basically I don't abuse mine. I do my own maintenance, and replace all fluids, some not as often as I probably should, but never let it go too long. Another thing is make sure you keep it greased regularly, even those hard to reach fittings. Besides my 850 I have a 570, a 400, and a 50cc. They've all been pretty much trouble free. With all that said Polaris engineers do have some really stupid designs on all of them. I've always thought the engineer should have to do the routine maintenance on any they design and then they might understand what a stupid design they've done. Battery replacement on my 570 is a nightmare and the engineer that made that design should be fired. People tend to remember the bad designs more than the good designs. My next atv will be highly scrutinize for PIA routine maintenance.

For the price point of Polaris compared to most other companies (pre-pandemic), I've always said, don't blame the engineers, blame the accountants that tell the engineers it's too expensive to do it the right way.

I bought my 2016 sportsman xp 1000 winter 2017. First ride the rear plastics melted . It was mid February . Recall on it and fixed. I bought it for the comfortable ride and power. I just hit 1000km on it . Service regularly . It is used on gravel trails and winter use mostly. 4 -5 rides a year. Needs tie rod ends and steering box. I just did wheel bearings and ball joints on my 2005 honda rubicon at 16 years old. In my opinion the honda will outlast the sportsman.

I hear ya on the quality. The suspension on my new , less then 200mi, sportsman 570 is clunky, steering is clunky in reverse. The oil filter is bitch to get. I read you have to take the winch off to fill the front diff. Fuel economy is great, the 4wd is great. The headlights suck at night, there is no rear storage anymore. And front storage is minimal, my 38oz yeti barely fits. The handguards are minimal size, and only attaches to one point.

570s are going to have the same suspension/wheel bearing issues. Not so much with the drivetrain. At the 570 power level and price I would suggest looking into a king quad 500 or Yamaha Kodiak 700. Both will perform very similar to the 570 and not have any of the reliability/dependability concerns.

You are so right, they build Polaris like the french build the Citroen. When they stand with the engine before mounting it in the vehichle, they think well the oilfilter sitts fine here,, but when it is in the ATV, they are nearly impossible to get to. In my first car, a Citroen 2 CV one had to lift the gearbox to put a new silencer in
oh yes- ingenious engineering. . The designer should be forced to work one year in a Polaris repair-shop, then they would learn to think with the brain, not the a.. :-))

I laughed so hard at this video and part 1. I would not buy any NEW Polaris anything, the quality has went down imo. Some of the really old ones (various models) had a lot of issues as well the first few years or so Fuji engines had some cam problems, but could be fixed easy. The newer Fuji engines were updated and solid. The around 2008 - 2013 era sportsman 500's were some of the best units with the "Polaris" name though. Those were actually solid, besides some minor things like wheel bearings and suspension bushings that all Polaris have LMAO. The funny thing is that era 2008-2013 sportsman was 90% not made by Polaris. Fuji engine, Hilliard Front diff, japan carb, japan cdi, misc components made overseas, etc. See where I am going? I said I would never buy a Polaris, but I did buy a cheap 2013 last year sportsman 500 to fix up and sell for top dollar. Solid unit besides the things mentioned above. Hilarious video though and you are being 100% honest and I appreciate that. If something has problems and sucks I will also tell you like it is if asked. I would and have told my neighbors out loud that polaris sucks (I have a 2013 sportsman but not keeping it). 75% of people around here have one where I am currently living. Guess what though, I rarely see them ride it if its a newer unit. No joke, I see my neighbors maybe ride at max 1 hour per month with the new units. I see more older polaris units driving about racking up the miles.

Unless they added or subtracted them from the 850 there is one on the inside of each a-arm front and rear. One on the driveshaft under the right floorboard, one on each lower control arm near the hub. And the wheel bearings should be greased regularly.

Same here. The Sportsman is the smoothest ,plushest ride out there. The only way I would pull the trigger is buying the extended warranty, selling it on it's last year of the 5 year warranty if I didn't like the machine or had too many problems. Now, in regards to swamping it, if the motor blows or has a knock, I'd let my insurance policy handle that one. I'd roll the quad off a cliff lol.
