"repugnant is a creature that would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here".........he's the best lyricist of the generation
@@blacksmoke3113 of course that’s what I’m implying so many people love him and his music because it gives the same sense as a religious awakening. The impact and the meaning is no less powerful than any gospel, especially the ones that do not have that in their lives. MJK was raised in a very Christian household because of his mother and is extremely spiritual himself, not religious in a traditional sense.
From the peaceful Eden-like audioscape to Danny's rolling thunder and hurling thunderbolts from the drum kit, back to the opening calmness. Incredible journey of sound.
@blacksmoke3113 I'm religious and a huge TOOL fan. I see absolutely no reason why anyone who believes would be offended by any subject in this song. Is there some part of religion you need help understanding? There is no idea in this song that goes against the concept of Christianity in any way. I can't speak for other religions.
@@LanceThompsonKssooner the ENTIRE song is from an angels perspective questioning how asinine gods creation is, why did he give them free will knowing what they'll choose. Why did he give them thumbs knowing they will forge and kill. Why did he make them religious so that they won't dream of more when they lift their eyes to the "heavens". Should we point out the rest of his catalogue? I'm sure you don't want to go to a perfect circle lyrics, since he literally says eff your god, eff Christ, etc etc
@blacksmoke3113 No. We are discussing the song you mentioned. Do change the subject because you don't understand religion. The ENTIRE POINT is to choose for yourself. What would be the point if everyone was perfect and sinless. Go to church or read a Bible. 🤦♂️
@@LanceThompsonKssooner wait, are you saying that there's a separation between maynards lyrics in this song and in others? And how is it changing subjects if the original topic was addressed before the additional supporting evidence? Have you never heard of elaboration? I don't think so since you can't seem to elaborate on your spurious claims about understanding religion🤷
That album has so many incredible creations it’s scary. The fact people are hearing them for the first time in 24 and are blown away speaks volumes. Especially since us diehard tool fans have known this for over 20 years! Great reaction my man, enjoy! Godspeed
Adam jones doesn't like doing guitar solos although he does over a boasting 4 minutes solo on the song 7empest, which secured them a Grammy after Thirteen years.
😢Right "IN TWO" is a line from the Bible: 1 Kings 3 16-28. King Solomon, the wisest man to ever live is holding court. He is hearing a case about a child that is claimed by two prostitutes. They each tell Solomon that the other's child died in the night, and the child was stolen. Solomon calls for a sword and orders that the child be cut in two, and half be given to each woman. The real mother immediately gives up her claim, willing to give up her child rather than see it killed. The lying woman says it is a fair settlement. Solomon knows which is which and gives the child back to his real mother. We "silly monkeys" are like the lying woman, fighting to the bitter end, willing to divide things in two and destroy everything in the process. The song is about human nature and our constant eagerness to fight over everything in spite of our supposed intelligence.
I don't think you should be equating this song with religion. It's clearly critical of creationism and religion. And the bibles not the first thing, let alone the only, to use the words "right in two" Which is actually referring to the flawed nature of creationist belief systems and their proclivity at dividing people even more than we already are inherently
