    27:02 This Landcruiser is from the german civil protection organisation (license plate THW = Technisches Hilfswerk)
    34:55 You get 150kW if you are the only car charging. With 2 cars charging the power will be split to 75kW each. The rampup after the unplugging of the second car should work after a future firmware update on the chargers from what i heard.

    Great road trip videos guys. This final one though not sure I could do that much driving not without another driver sharing. But then I'd be more tourist and leaving the autobahn to see the country and sights. Yours though I know was a business trip.

    The problem with EV road trips is that they necessarily focus primarily on the planning and execution of numerous charging stops and not the traditional adventure associated with a combustion car. A long EV trip would be a pain for ordinary families with small children etc .

    I used to spend an hour cleaning the brake dust off my Lexus IS 250 wheels. They would be black from brake dust in just 3 days. In almost 2 years of owning a Model 3 I have yet to clean the wheels. All because of regenerative braking.

    Not wrong for plug in hybrid to charge bc gas is expensive in Europe

      When there is a queue for full electric cars to charge at the motorway, I think it's poor taste to charge a plugin at that moment. I've never done it when we had ours.

      I have Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid and while excellent car it is charging so slowly that it is really not nice to steal spot from BEVs. You are gaining so little while doing it. And making others life worse.

    • @PierreSimonsson
      @PierreSimonsson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      and that car was also using the AC charging not the DC so no wrong there. charging on Ac or wiating in que for DC isent any differnce i think.

    • @ahlsn7346
      @ahlsn7346 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcokoopal3527 If the pure EV owners don't want to wait in queue they could also have bought a plugin hybrid instead. Every mile cars run on electricity instead of gas is good. Why else would you buy an BEV in the first place? If people don't plugin their cars then there's less incentive to build out the infrastructure so this is just lose lose. If people would then maybe there would already have been a couple more chargers and nobody would have to wait.

    Question: I use a wheelchair and I currently drive a Tesla Model X. However, a van would be a better vehicle for me. Is there a legitimate fully electric minivan or full-size van available now or in the very near future that I could trade into?

    When a startup car manufacturer like Tesla could build the most awesome charging network in Western Europe, surely the worlds biggest car manufacturer could do something similar. Unlike Tesla, their Ionity charger network are even partly subsidized by the European Union and of course the other car manufacturers.
    When I have been traveling from Denmark to Italy, I saw the same thing when I tried to use high speed chargers at the rest stops in Germany, 2/3 of the time they were crazy busy with cars queuing up. With all the roadworks and stau, after 2 1/2 -3 hours, I needed a coffe / restroom break before the car needed charge. Sometimes they were all busy so I took the next rest stop. A few times, I just went to a supercharger because there were a bit panicky / frustration vibe at the Ionity / Enbw / Eon / etc from people needing to charge.
    Great video, I always enjoy watching them and use them as an excuse to sip a bit of rum after work.

  • @reanult457

    can it reach 800V when charging ?

    • @MrStian78
      @MrStian78 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What? It’s a 800V architecture.
      By doubling the voltage EV makers can halve the current to produce the same power. That means cars with an 800V architecture can run thinner cables to produce the same power. The same runs true for charging. At 800V, a charging station can provide more power using the same cables.
      So that’s why Porsche Taycan have a maximum charging speed of 270kW.
