That is nice of you to stay. I can't hold a candle to ole Waylon! I could listen to that man read the phone book! I really appreciate the kind words. Take care my friend!
I just wanna say THANK YOU man!!! I've been looking everywhere to start I know g,d,c etc. Ahaha and a little but no video really helped or showed the stuf idk. I put down the guitar today and this made me pick it back up!!! I'll give you a shout out once I'm on stage brother!!!
Thanks Baker Baker! I am glad you liked it. Waylon was one of a kind. He made it look so effortless and easy. One of the coolest dudes ever! I am glad you liking the new studio/room setup. That's where most of the videos will be filmed at from now on. I want to keep investing in making the channel better in order to help more people out so we can enjoy these great artists and their tunes! Thanks as always bud!
Love the drop d sound. Can’t seem to follow directions and get a modified g. Maybe adding a diagram like you have for the standard chords would help. Good tutorial, I’ll look for more Waylon songs and see what you have, thanks 👍
Good lesson. IMO the bests songs that that were ever written were from distinctive voices like Waylon, Willie, Merl, Tompaul, Johnny, Chris, and of course many others. Thanks for the lesson.
Just checked in on The Tube as i have been mia for a few day`s and what do you Know , Shane T has one from The hoss ! One of te ones i ave dabbled into , Great tune and A great lesson , good looking studio.
@@countrymusicguitarclassics Yep he does. I started learning this one but I them got stuck on Are You Sure Hank Did it This Way , to learn the Bm and how to change from a Barre chord to an open chords. The C major and Barre chords give me fits as I have some fingers that are not too bright LOL I guess I just will have to learnn this one now that Shane T did a lesson.
Sounds good Pat! I will have to check out her version of it. I do love that song though. It is one of my favorites of Waylon's. Will do. And you are welcome. I appreciate you kind words Pat.
I have 7 or 8 of them. The ones in the videos are either a black Takamine acoustic. They sound great plugged in. A nice acoustic/electric guitar. Then the sunburst one that you see in the latest videos is a Mitchell acoustic and I only cost me $130 or $140 when I bought! It It sounds nice though.
Drop your low E string to a D. Then you can strum all 6 strings with that D chord. When the G chord comes around, move up to the 5th fret and just press the top two strings on the 5th fret with your index. May sound crazy when you read this, but if you try it you’ll open up a whole new world of Waylon possibilities 🤠
I have a quick question so I tuned my guitar to drop D and I have mastered the D major chord but I'm a little confused on the G chord I moved down to the 5th but do you only have two fingers pressed down on the strings to properly play the G chord?
Hi James. Good question. For that song yes. It might be best to not strum or pluck the 5 string(A string) when playing that G chord when using the drop d tuning. You can also place your pinky on the 5th string 5th fret. That kind of sounds cool when you add the extra D note in there. In the future I will do some videos such as Fishin In the Dark and some Hank Jr. songs that uses the drop D tuning and your drop the 5th string down a whole step too. Then you can make the G chord in a different way and get some cool sounds out of it. But yes for this this song for the G chord, you will be ok just pressing down just two strings. The 1st string and the 6th string. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I am allowed my opinion you are as well. My way of thinking is when you're playing the music that belongs to an icon like Waylon Jennings to alter it at all is sacrilege. Maybe no one else gives a shit. But it bugs me. Who am I?? Nobody. If it were me I'd try my hardest to do it like Waylon did just outta respect.
I respect your opinion. I certainly want to pay my respects to people like Waylon and his music and legacy. Thank you for the honest comment. Your opinion definitely matters on this channel and I bet you are more than just a nobody!
No problem. If you are playing in standard tuning play the 4th string on down when playing the D Major chord. And play all 6 strings when you are playing the G major chord. If you decided to drop the top string(6th string) Down to Drop D tuning(like I am in the version of this video) then play all 6 strings for both the D major chord and the G major chord. Hope this helps!
Not bad on the guitar. BUT you got the lyrics wrong. Its trifling not traveling. I would be totally embarrassed if I got on TH-cam and sang a song of a legend like Waylon Jennings and had it wrong. Ugh
youre aloud to play songs and make them sound in your own style. i change lyrics in songs all the time to help make it relatable. but go ahead and have yr opinion, i can also understand your side of your opinion. maybe he meant to change it to fit himself, or maybe he didnt know the right lyrics. in the end, who gives a shit? Outlaw country is all about breaking the rules. im sure waylon would appreciate someone trying to keep his music alive.

Round here, he was known as the man of joy, still is.
That is great to hear!
Someone’s from Alabama
I still have that album of old Waylon, among others....

Can you teach me honky tonk heroes by Waylon Jennings
Sure can. That is a good one!
Thanks hoss!
Any time Charles! Thanks for watching!
Great lesson, thanks!
Glad you liked it! You are very welcome!
Hi. I really wish you would play the song though complete before you start. Thanks.
Shane brother you do songs that are the absolute best that no one teaches or plays. Great instruction and what count for each chord?
Thanks
We’re Gon have to call you rambling’ man 😂
Right on 👍🏽🇨🇦
Thanks George!
Triple love
Or do you strum on certain counts?
Patty Loveless does the best version of Dreamin My Dreams With You in my opinion. Why not teach us that one Shane T? Thank you for what you do here.
Sounds good Pat! I will have to check out her version of it. I do love that song though. It is one of my favorites of Waylon's. Will do. And you are welcome. I appreciate you kind words Pat.
@@countrymusicguitarclassics, Have you heard Jamey Johnson's cover of that song?
Ay where’s the video for the one he played on the tv set with Jesse
Can you do a lesson on an old song called Making Believe
Sure. Which version do you like? Merle Haggard. Kitty Wells? Conway and Loretta? I just want to make sure I do the right version for you. Thanks!
What kind of guitar do you have? Just curious in starting out because ive never played

Really needs a little stuff with the two chords.
Man I can't play the D chord to save my life

I can see both sides, but as a drummer I can't play a lot of things. I prefer to make it my own, but nobody would pay to hear it.
What strings are you hitting for each chord while your strumming? Please help me
No problem. If you are playing in standard tuning play the 4th string on down when playing the D Major chord. And play all 6 strings when you are playing the G major chord.
