The version from Power Battle (the CPS1 version) is the first version of this song I heard...and one of my favorites as a kid! (Along with Junkman's theme, Slashman's theme, and that song that plays when you fight Turboman). Listening to this brings back memories!
Honestly, I'm not a fan of this game's soundtrack, but some themes are excellent (the one that plays against Mecha Dragon is my favorite), and this remix saved Napalm Man's theme, which I like more in its original rendition. I have high hopes for your shot on Mecha Dragon's theme in MM7 style!
To be honest, I feel the same way, I am not a huge fan of this games soundtrack, the only ones that stand out to me are Yellow Devils, MechaDragon, Shade Man, Napalm, Man, Elec Mans, and Guts Mans themes. I am actually looking forward to remaking MechaDragon in MM7 style.
MM5 easily had the most overlooked soundtrack of the NES series, though it did have a few bangers like this and gravity man

Gyro Man, Crystal Man, Napalm Man, Star Man were all pretty good. I'll add in Stone Man, Boss themes (Dr. Wily included) and Proto Man's castle.
Also both fortress themes.
Imo Napalm man is the best 8-bit theme in the entire series the melody is just so catchy
love how they kept the lava in the background the same style as the classic mm games
