I stroked a 1965 XLCH in 1966. It was a beast. In a straight line. I’m 75 now. I remember that bike fondly. The stroke was so radical that it would crack all the way across the rear fender. It did just under 11 in the qtr with aluminum struts on the back and a 24 tooth counter shaft sprocket. Didn’t turn well! Didn’t stop all that well! I ride long distances. Lots. Still. Now on a 2018 BMW GSA. It’s actually very fast although it has pitiful torque from an idle. The Sportster would travel 70 mph at 2,250 rpm. Nothing beats a long stroke for torque. Just carry nuts and bolts and Loctite. That was a magnificent machine. It would rip the rivets out in the clutch derby. I am still amazed it didn’t just explode. It was savage. I don’t think I would have the balls anymore to rev it up and dump the clutch like I did when I was a kid. The sound was savage. At an idle it sounded like John Wayne walking. Real lumpy. Badump, badump, badump. Just blowing gas out the exhaust. When I cracked it open on city streets pedestrians would jump. Mothers would put their arms around their children. I rode it 12 months a year. In Philly. We were hard core. I didn’t own a car. Still don’t. Still riding 12 months but out of Florida. I have a Yamaha T700 in France. Rife that all through Europe, UK and North Africa. That bike does have torque everywhere. I love motorcycles. My life has been mortised between two generations that didn’t understand me-my parents and my children. I need a place to sleep, a guitar and a motorcycle.
Joe. The bike looks and sounds great. Also I really liked the video. Well explained great picture and audio. I ordered my T143 for my 09 Electra Glide. I can wait for next season. I will be driving it across Canada.
I see this posting is near four years old, and now days you can get much better engine mounts from Big Bear Performance. The rear uses the old FXR rear mounts and the front one uses late Touring mounts. Get urethane mounts for the front one, it is made in such a way as to allow you to centre your rear wheel in the frame - not cheap, but good and strong.
Kris Green I don’t think they make a B motor for softails...or I’d be buying one...S&S can’t make B motors because Harley has patent on the counter balance, that goes fir the 124too but I found a racing company that makes S&S B motors. STAR RACING

Joe, if you checked the OHMs resistance of those S.E. wires, you'd toss them right out. We run OHM rating wires in the 40-50 per foot, NOTHING more. The KONG clutch from Baker is our go-to bad boy as well. You'll be happy with the THUNDER MAX with Auto-Tune. SARGE
+BIGG DuBB Was thinking the same thing for my 2007 Softail Custom but the last time I looked they don't make a B model for our bikes. Kit 124 is about the best way to go unless something has changed recently. Sure would be fun though.

Can you please explain egain what you did to the Swingarm? I have a 2016 Dyna Lowroder and notice quite a bit of movement in the swingarm. Already changed the motormounts to Polyurethan.
hi Joe the bike looks mint with the performance upgrades, what did you get out of it down the quarter mile, and the previous 124 you had how did that go down the quarter mile and would the 124 be hard to fit into a 2002 dyna low rider? , i could only get a 13.9 out of my stock 1450 this weekend at meremere and want to get it into the mid to low 12s to make things a little more fun than coming second cheers

Old video but how did the T143 work out for you. Did you lower the compression for everyday riding and have you had to have much work on it?

The payoff was when you started it up ! Very sweet BIG V TWIN SOUND!! I MUST GET THIS ENGINE AND PUT A SUPERCHARGER ON IT!!!

I love the bike,but I have to say.Once you take out the OEM ENGINES ETC ,it doesn't seem like a Harley Davidson anymore.
harley riders through around $ 20,000. like its nothing. i know a guy who spent $5000. dollars, for 12 more horse power? go figure

I would never put anything into a Dyna.. Not a fan of the Dyna 2 point motor mounts... A step backwards for Harley. I would have done the FXR or FXRS.
Dynas have 3 pt mounts.
Really? I thought the Dynas were 2 point rubber mounts.. FXR 3. FXR is 4 counting the metal banjo type rod fitting.. But 3 rubber... Dyna is 2.. or?
