My only complaint about Tactiles Knives is that they make knives with ambidextrous locks but don't make a place to reverse the clip. I'm a lefty and own a Maverick, Dreadeye, Rockwall, and Bexar from Tactile but I really wish they'd fix that. Most companies are on board at this point.
I refuse to buy an ambidextrous knife without a lefty clip option since adding one is so easy, the manufacturer doesn’t give a shit about us.
I'm sure it's something they are going to consider in future. As far as George comment. Manufacturers care about money as they should because that makes them care about what the people want in order to serve them better. And like you they lost your purchase because they didn't meet your expectations hopefully they will
@@LBwdF I’m a righty but I can see this as an annoyance to lefty’s.
I have wanted a couple of their knives, but that non reversible clip thing is a no go for me. I don't even mind a button lock that I have to use my index finger instead of my thumb to operate, as long as I can carry it in my left pants pocket.
I halfway jokingly have said that we need a southpaw lobby to fight for equal lefts.
@@georgelin8498yeah I agree, there’s plenty of incredible knives made by companies that do give a shit about lefties so why would I buy products from a company that doesn’t?
Hello everyone
Only 429.$..
But nice looking.
Absolutely agree on how important it is how companies respond to issues! Every company will make mistakes and Tactile Knives seems to understand how to properly approach the issues and be vulnerable. Love it!
You perfectly described my feelings about Tactile. They would be doing themselves a huge favor if they circulated prototypes to a select group of YT channels for feedback before finalizing their initial releases.
Used your link to purchase my Mariner 2 along with an Archer. I decided to not get the semiconductor thumb disc in lieu of the Archer. I’m stoked about it. Seeing how they made right of the plunge grind along with your recommendation makes it a nobrainer as well. Thanks for the input Neeves. Super stoked to get my hands on these! 💪🏻💪🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for the support!
Agreed. Tactile is a solid US company! Great designs, great materials, great execution even with the mistakes. They make it right.
I own 2 but plan many more.
I love my Archer. NOT cheap, and It's a hefty beast, built like a tank, but man is it a pleasure to use, and being a Texan, well they're in Dallas, so... Worth every penny!
Thanks for the support!
People forget, Tactile is still fairly new when you look at other companies have been around. They should get better as they grow and can become more profitable. I hope to see them grow but not go down the path of some others that have products so expensive that the average person cannot afford to enjoy it. 👍
I have a handful of knives that utilize a thumb disc. When done right it's a good system. When done poorly though, it sux!
It requires proper placement yes, but also proper traction enhancement via knurling, checkering, jimping or texturing. Some type of milling around the outside to give purchase.
My original Cold Steel recon-1 with the Ultra Lock is one of the best, as is my Emerson CQC-7.
Ive got a cheap Meyerco Lightfoot catch-dog that is absolutely horrible !
Idk if I'd ever prefer it to thumbstuds but if done well enough I don't mind it.
I agree w you. Tactile has become one of the top USA made companies on my radar.
I did a spine whack test on my Chupacabra it failed. I emailed the Tactile CO gave return number I had it back within 10 including shipping both ways, no more issues with spin whack testing.
I had an issue w my Rockwall. And I was one of those naysayers. But, they took care of my issue, standing behind their product. I have completely 180’d my opinion of their products.
👊
Mariner 2 XL and I'm in 💯 Looks like a great little knife!! 8inch 3.5 blade would be 🔥 Looks like a great knife for normal size hands!! 👊🏻
Same for the Rockwall. A Rockwall 2 XL and I'd have 5 of em.
@@PrettyGoodShot Ya..I got a Rockwall when they first released.. Totally Agree would be awesome to have an XL/Regularsize!! 👊🏻
I completely agree. It's the sign of a great company when the react to feedback or qc issues. They are going to happen but as long as they care enough to make it right then I'm OK with it 👊
Great review Jared! Tactile is a great company with good design and quality. Also, the spine whack test is the dumbest thing ever, JMO of course.
I’m glad tactile has made themselves a decent lineup of knives to choose from and/or collect. I can’t decide if I want the Archer or Mariner. 🤔
Both are amazing for sure, the Archer has s bit more of a premium feel but also more money so it makes sense
I got a Rockwall from them. Lost the thumb stud somehow within a week. I emailed them about buying a replacement, and instead, they just sent me a new one. They said their thumb studs shouldn't come off. It was a really easy situation to fix and no hoops. Direct and fast. They really stand behind their product. Love my Rockwall, btw.
Thanks for the support!
Terzuola doesnt really miss
@@harvey_weenstain8857 lol 🤣🤣Harvey Weenstain 🙌🏻🤣
Really hope that they come out with a bronze thumb disk.
I know you link stuff. But, please mention prices on the knifes. Even if it's a ball park range. It's my pet peeve when reviewers don't cover price and availability...
The only reason I typically don't is because it's always subject to change and I have videos saying something is over priced at 250 then right after the video within a few days they dropped it 100$ so now people are not going to know that. Since these videos live forever the prices are guaranteed to go up and down
From reading over the comments, it looks like my support experience with Tactile may be in the minority. I had a Bexar issue where the blade edge was slamming into the backspring (leaving a visible gouge on it) and the backspring itself was carved out by the actual blade itself to where there was almost zero tension. Sent it to Tactile and they adjusted it, but the issues remained. They offered to look at it again but I paid shipping on it the first time and I'd be paying again to send it back. I'm not confident that there will be any difference the second time around so I'm just going to post it for sale as-is. Definitely soiled my outlook on the company and honestly made me not even look at their knives anymore. Sounds like my experience is just a one-off but the damage was done at least for me.
Neeves said do better. Tactile said hold my beer. 🇺🇸
They should be accommodating with the prices they charge
I agree totally. Tactile has been doing great and they continue try new things. Might have a few hiccups but that is no reason to write them off.
@@ct2368 I love a company, that loves innovation and doesn’t rest on their laurels, while also making right out of any mistakes they may have made. I love new designs and things to nerd out over w knives and Tactile knife hasn’t recently disappointed.
Thanks for the support!
I feel bad for Snecx who has gotten bad mouthing for lock that tactile modified. People just assume its a normal Superlock. Please do an open side by side of the locks and you can very easily see where tactile went wrong.
Lots of companies have a first batch issues I think it’s pretty common in machining period no matter the product. Sig sauer is famous for this bc they do their r&d for change and improvement with the first batch. and that’s another product dealing with precision machining tolerance, stacking, and moving parts needing to be smooth and consistent that’s a multi billion dollar company that’s been around for 75 years who comes from the pinnacle of machining supposedly
How would you create a sharpening choil without overheating the blade?
Man the OG Bob T. already dropped over a month ago, picked one up at Tools for Gents. It is a great knife without a doubt!
they gotta put out a rockwall 2 with better lockbar access and better thumbstud access. the current version is absolutely blown out of the water by the QC waypoint.
I agree with all the points. I've loved tactile from the beginning with tactile pen then later knives. They're wonderful, great people great company. HOWEVER I got the Mariner for the second drop, it's kind of a lemon. The tolerances on the pins are way, WAY too tight. Out of the box it was not assembled with the back spacer flat against either scale. The show side scale was actually bent due to one of the pins holding the back spacer and lock bar was not seated, and could not be. So, the rear screw was tightened way too tight to make that happen. The lanyard pin was so tight not only couldn't I pull apart the knife nicely, I elected to leave it out to reassemble the knife after having to fight with it going back in. Stripping the threaded titanium would be the last thing I want to do trying to pull it together with the threads. Unfortunately, I could never get it to actually sit together nicely. Also, unfortunately, the sharpening wasn't very good. Now, angles being wonky is perfectly fine to me, but it actually had a noticeable recurve in the middle of the blade. I was able to sharpen it out without much effort though so not a huge deal. I feel if I said something they would deal with it no problem however. I'm very open to small issues because I can fix them 99.9 percent of the time but for the price of the knife, I was disappointed for the first time ever from Tactile and from any company for that matter. I still love the knife and will continue to buy from Tactile though, even though this knife will likely just sit in the drawer.
Sorry this was your experience with the Mariner. If there is still an issue please shoot us an email and we'd be happy to facilitate this getting fixed.
How about some flamed ti - tiger stripe scales.
I enjoy my Rockwall, I have my eye on that Mariner w the superconductor thumb disc. Also want an Archer, will I buy both?? 💸
Early adopter on the chupacabra… multiple issues with the locking mechanism (almost like the detent was way too high, had to open with two hands the first time I picked it up after sitting for a few days… then after less than a month, up and down blade play…)
Customer service was amazing, ended up sending it back and applied the credit to an archer…
Action is not great for a $700 knife (inlay version). Hard to deploy, and not very drop shutty… DID get better with some lube… still not great… AND the belly of the blade going out to the tip was somewhat dull from the factory… no big deal, I’ll just sharpen it up… then I noticed that there is a mark on the inside of the backspacer where the blade hits every time you close it… cmon man… pretty disappointing… and I wanna like them. I live 15 miles from their shop… I dunno…
Shoot us an email. We can get that Archer dialed.
My Rockwall haze zero lock up. I'd like to send it back but javent. It's like a slipjoint fr
Yeah send it back or try and tune yourself if your capable
Shoot us an email and we will get this taken care of.
16:26 LM for instance. Now he just rides the coat tails of LTK.
I degreased and properly lubed the lock on my Chupacabra. It completely solved the lock failure when striking back of the blade. Please try on your one that failed, lube the bearing only.
the lock, or the pivot bearing (did you mean pivot bearing(s)) ? thanks..
@@shawnfallahi5616 Sorry with my explanation. Locking surfaces clean and dry. Light lube on pivot bearing only.
I like the metal handle. I like the back spacer. I like the metal color. I like it got 6 scews. I like the Stone wash blade. But i am not a fan of the blade ... ^^
I bought a spartan blade pallos over the weekend did a video button lock failed I emailed the company have yet to hear back have you had any issues with them jared
We need a neeves ASMR with those amazing acoustics
they will let anyone film during their tours. and always fix their issues. I love their responses. Benchmade would never let you whip a camera around like Tactile does.
Absolutely 👊
Thumb disc's look horrible but usually function good.
Tell Tactile to make lefty friendly knives.
I have written to a couple of manufacturers with that exact request. On the plus side, not having many left handed US made knives helps me to save beaucoup dinero.
The Mariner is definitely on my wishlist. The problem is what thumb disk to get.
Yeah I know, I want the super conductor since I've never owned any
@@NeevesKnives I'm leaning towards the super conductor myself.
Normally i dont feel this way but I wish it was bigger then i would feel like i am getting my money's worth
I'd like to know where do you put Magna Cut ? Because i think i heard you saying Nitro V is better. But i not shure ..!
No magnacut is better than Nitro v by every metric.
I realy like the handle !! ^:
I think it is a little overpriced. My benchmark is the Rockwall. I don't see how this is $150 more than it. My only gripe. Other than that I Love Tactile Turn. I think they are an Amazing Co. and I Love there Knives 😍
Well I have to imagine Terzuola designs are not cheap, and knowing how old he is at this point they are probably making sure to do good by him
@NeevesKnives ya I could see where you pay the Terzuola tax. I like tactile, big fan. That new Archer looks amazing. I think they are going to be a great knife company for many many years
If Hogue makes a Deka with this same blade shape, you can bet I'm getting one. I'm a fireman, I want something I can use at work. I would love to see this with a 3.5" 14C28N blade and G10 for
For sure the Rockwall is a great benchmark. The $110 up charge comes from the milled clip, backspacer, improved finishing and there also being a designer tied to it. In person it's easier to see IMHO.
@tactileknifeco3831 Thx for the reply and thx for clearing up the additional cost. Tactile is a favorite of mine 👍
Oh yeah, i am not a big fan on the disktumb. But this one is in the sale collr than the rest of the knife. And his emplacement looks good.l ..! ^^
Its an American Kunwu CHAD. Hey im all for it! 😂
I bet they do a crazy micro-milled ti scale on these in the future. Maybe a lefty?
Is it on the lighter side or the non-existent side? Maverick opened when I pulled it out of my pocket
Mines pretty light for sure, it's not non existent but it's very light I'm probably going to tune mine stronger
Mariner (as in Marine + er) or Mariner (as in mare-in-ur)?
Mare-in-ur. That's how I've always heard it.
@@mwm302 That’s what I thought.
I’d rather have a first run USA made knife w some issues where the company makes it right, than buy another chineesium knife that have no soul. Just my opinion
👏 👏
I commented on another channel about how I only buy US made knives and had someone tell me that it doesn't matter where knives come from. I used to work for a major GM parts supplier that closed up and went to the lowest bidder (the cheapest country to import from) so I think it is very important to support the few American made things we have left.
It takes a lot to keep this operation going & people like you make it worth it. A lot of us here started making knives bc we love them and keeping that passion and soul in our products is our goal.
15:00 Ill never buy a quite carry again after the garbo original v1 drift i got with nothing but problems and poor design. And still haven't.
15:30 sounds like zt. They think they can't do anything wrong. And the only thing they do right is the materials they use. But nothing else is right. And you can't say anything about it.
Do you plan to bring lives back? I miss seeing your gorgeous face :(
This week we are going back on schedule
I know nothing of tactile outside of they make knives only for right handed folks. Even if they use a ambi lock.
Honestly this looks like the Mars knife but actually a knife
It's no Sencut Mims, but it looks alright.
Tactile def has a signature sound imo. Lest the Chupacabra. That’d be more like a ad20ish
I absolutely love the sound of the AD20/s.
Can you show how you correct the blade?
What do you mean?
@@NeevesKnivesadding the sharpening notch you mentioned in the video
Do the blade is a warncliff ..?
Wharncliffe use a tapering spin from heel to tip like a half moon shape, this is more sheepsfoot and it doesn't have a perfectly straight edge. It's pretty much a perfect example of a sheepsfoot
Jared cuts more straps and gets in more gas station fights then any other man on the planet!
Are ya trying to wipe the name of the blade..?? Lol . Love ya bro !
I love tactile but their knifes are just to heavy for me. They need to mill out some internals to reduce the weight. The chupacabra would have been my favorite knife ever. But it was just to heavy. If it had been a little thinner and a lot less weight I would have kept it instead of returning it
The Chupacabra is the heaviest knife in our lineup. You should check out our other models, they all have internal milling to reduce weight.
Waiting for # 6 on ur strophyssss?
Question, what companies is he talking about
I'm talking about the company from the video
Bang!
Knives are cool.
You read the room...
How much cost it ..? ^^

"Colored options" sounds like a DNC recommendation
Too expensive.
Yeah, I love the lines, just wish someone made a blue collar budget-friendly model that wasn't limited to a few production numbers. I'm a fireman. Make one with a 14C28N blade 3.5" long and sporting G10 scales for under $120 so us commoners can enjoy it!
(or let Hogue make a Deka with this blade shape)
Hey you passed 300k
🥳 🎉 🪅
@@NeevesKnivescongrats J rad!
Half a million before the end of the year!
Don’t own any of their knives NONE of them are lefty friendly so they are on my do not buy list!!!!!
You failed it so many times. The detent sucks and why aren’t you slagging it like you did Liong Mah’s knife? lol you influencers are a joke.
I literally did say it was on the lighter side and I want it stronger, difference is I did tune liongs stronger and the detent was to small for it to make a difference which was my big complaint. I can easily tune this one stronger. Also I didn't pay for the almost 2 years out with ever getting to see a prototype or anything. And in order to send it back to get fixed would take probably 6 months to go back to Reate. So if I couldn't tune this one which I can very easily I would only wait about a week for them to fix maybe 2
Every tactile knife I’ve bought has had issues out of the box. It was the worst with the Maverick and customer service was very unfriendly to saw the least.
Absolutely wrote off the brand and if no interest in owning any more of them
Knives like this shouldn’t have issues out of the box. There are so many other brands that consistently knock it out of the park for less and more money.
I'm sorry to hear that, maybe down the line they can win you back atleast I hope so. There is alot of competition out there for sure
