The fact that this incredible track is not usually mentioned as being amongst McCartney s greatest hits is the absolute proof of his amazing genius. ✌️
Before he went to Russia awhile back he asked the people there what their favVery unique. song was, and he was surprised that they said 1985! Now he does it in concert, I love it. Also Amber, if you ever see him in concert, during Live and Let Die he has some pretty exciting fireworks! He's going to S America and Europe next, I hope he tours the U.S. next year. BTW, you'd love Paul's Little Lamb Dragonfly song.
Sure!! Any sound of this piece is absolutely stunning and if you add all the songs in this great album plus all his 70's albums you'll have a massive and fenomenal artist in music!! He is the music man!!
@essenegnostic8711 ..no not in the same league as McCartney..a great artist yet not a popular icon was Prince..talented indeed..you have not done your research on McCartney..
My girlfriend and I were in college in "1975". We would be together in her apartment studying, doing our homework - listening to our Band On The Run "LP" on her stereo record player. Whenever "1985" came around we'd both jump up and dance! Then sit down again and resume studying as soon as the song was over.....
No other band can break up and be this good. The Beatles are once in a lifetime. Each were genius. Paul was by far the greatest musician. Just be happy we lived in the same time frame to witness it. Thank you Beatles

Amber - "I feel like we don't have enough time to compliment every single instrument that was involved in this and made that beautiful sound." Paul McCartney - lead vocals, guitar, bass guitar, piano, keyboards, drums
The PURE McCARTNEY performance by Dutch and American musicians is a fantastic live re-creation of the RAM album. I never hummed MONKBERRY PIE until I saw that song in that performance.
Great song, can’t believe he’s 82! Where has the time gone? I’m so glad I got to be part of the era with the Beatles landing in 1964. The British Invasion was a gift to us Americans, I loved them all!👍👏👏👏♥️♥️
Great point Jay. To answer your question: No other band has ever broken up and all members had a prominent solo career. The Beatles were unique in so many ways. In a time when bands were doing covers and pop songs, they wrote their own. They set forth genres for other bands to follow. The Beatles opened the door for other bands to “do their own thing”. They were trendsetters and pioneers.
Amber & Jay, here are some other good Paul McCartney/Wings songs to react to: "My Love", "Jet", "Let Me Roll It", "Helen Wheels", "Junior's Farm", "Let 'Em In", and "Rock Show".
I like the gritty sound of Paul McCartney. Intentionally giving a little more gruffness to his voice in this one. He has an range between 4-5 octaves. Paul also has the record for highest scream. Paul basically has two separate voices, the soft is the typical McCartney voice and his "Rocker" voice.
fun fact, when he was forming wings he had the members over for dinner. after they had finished and were discussing business McCartney suddenly stopped and said "oh ,i just remembered. i have to submit a song for this new movie by tomorrow " he excused him self , went to his study and started banging out notes on his piano. 5 min later he returned saying "ok ,where were we?" he wrote live and let die in 5min!!
Interesting fact: Paul McCartney was the first artist to reach No.1 in the UK as part of a group, "The Beatles", as a trio, "Wings", as a duo with Stevie Wonder and finally as a solo artist in January '84 with "Pipes Of Peace" ; which also happens to have a great video.
Paul played drums on this entire album because the original Wings drummer Denny Seiwell left the band a few days before they left for Lagos in Africa and recorded in Ginger Bakers studio.
What a stunner. That climax never fails to make my hair stand up. For any ordinary artist, a career-defining signature single; for Paul McCartney, just another album closer that Joe public has never heard of. Amazing man.
I truly believe he was singing this song to his wife Lynda who you hear playing keyboard and doing the background vocals. She was with him for many years until her death in 1998. She was also a famous photographer. She was the love of his life. RIP Lynda. This song was one of his best after the Beatles broke up. Lots of memories flooding back. Thanks again kids. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
Paul has a phenomenal knack for writing deliciously addictive melodies and riffs. I think this is my favorite McCartney solo song. In Your Lovin' Flame is a great song by him as well.
Paul in his prime was so creative. Keep in mind too, and it will blow it, that he played most of the instruments on the Band on the Run album. His wife Linda and Denny Laine helped out but Paul pretty much created and produced the LP on his own. Simply amazing. Jet, Helen Wheels and Let Me Roll It are other bangers from Band on the Run.
"Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five" was written and released in 1973. Like the George Orwell novel "1984" (released 1948) it was intended to represent a time thst seemed a long long way off, but most of the audience would be around to actually see it.
Phenomenal song by a phenomenal artist! Probably the most diverse artist of the past 50+ years. I think about it: Yesterday And I love her Got To Get You Into My Life Helter Skelter Mull of Kintyre

For the love of all that is good and holy PLEEEEEEEEEAAAASSSSEEEEEE, stop calling them “The Wings!” It’s Wings, just Wings. I’ve said this for each reaction of Paul McCartney and Wings. I’m sorry, it makes me cringe so hard! Other than that? Another great reaction! 😛
Wow, I'm so glad you listened to this one, I think it encapsulates his genius. Just effortlessly cool, rocking, cosmic - and all in five minutes. He's the greatest of them all!
Wow, I became obsessed with this song in late grade school and then an early Junior High I got the single and I figured out how to play the piano part to it and just had so much fun banging that out. And of course I could never sing like Paul McCartney, lol, but it still was so fun. I was in very many bands later on in my life but I've never had the opportunity to actually play this live other than playing at a piano at a party or something.
1973 was an absolutely great year for McCartney & Wings, Live And Let Die was nominated for an Oscar, lost yo Barbara Streisand's They Way We Were, and Band On The Run was released in November and won a Grammy for the deluxe release in 1975.
Thank you for the re-upload. There's another version Paul does of this song of same title called One hand clapping.Irs wonderful. You can see him play piano and his usual goofiness! Another magnificent Paul performance is "Soily" live in 1976. Really showcases his voice.
This was the great Denny Lane playing lead guitar. Denny was the orginal frontman of the Moody Blues, listen to Go Now and see what a amazing singer he was. Linda McCartney on keyboards
i was lucky being born in mid 50's. the beatles were a great phenomenon, each member was very successful after the breakup. as far as i know no other band has done this,
LOVE Paul's songs! This is a particularly good one. (Shout out to John Lennon's "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" duet with Elton John from Lennon's Walls and Bridges album).
A nice number from McCartney's finest solo album. Now next, y'all need to check out Paul's finest single, Junior's Farm. I think it was recorded during the Band On The Run sessions. It's great.
Band On the Run is a great album. This track is one of my favorites on it, as well as Jet and the sweet, slow, doowoppyish Let Me Roll It. I was 15 in '75 when this was released. Me & friends sitting around in our bedrooms playing the album and Brigitte making crank phone calls with her "Princess" phone. SMH The thing about McCartney is that he's a phenomenon of sincerity, talent, humility, and a desire to give fans their money's worth. He's a genuine people person, will talk with the common man/woman who approaches. A really kind soul who loves and cares for his family and friends (look at his relationship with Julian Lennon) He is a perfectionist where his work is concerned. When he wasn't satisfied with the way he thought someone else might play his music...he did it himself! From playing all kinds of instruments to self-producing his albums. I'm suspicious of anyone who doesn't like him😊 Be blessed❤
Paul has just released a live in the studio Wings album recorded in 1974 called One Hand Clapping. The new video for a rockin' song called Soily is great.
Hi Jay and Amber! It's Andrew Erroch fae Paisley in Scotland here. Thanks again for this reaction from one of my all time favourite albums. This is a classic album from 1973 and every track is great. If I had to pick another 2 tracks from the same album, you must also react to 'Jet' and 'Let Me Roll It'. Talking about bands with individual members who've had great success, I know there is normally one or two stand out artists who have the most success, but the only other band I can think of with each individual member having great success, is One Direction. Harry, Zayn, Niall, Liam and Louis have all had solo success. Not equal to The Beatles, of course, but nobody is. Perhaps also Oasis. The 2 main members of that band have had great solo success. In fact, I saw Liam Gallagher at The Hydro in Glasgow last night and the place was loud and rocking, as it always is for those troublesome brothers, Noel and Liam. Æx 🙏
you're absolutely right, even further, there can never be another band like the beatles. they are a singular entity unto themselves in terms of creating music and even motr than creating music in different styles, but creating different genres of music.
The absolutely perfect ending track to a truly great album, definitely the best post-Beatles offering by any of the Fab Four. And this video added a great reaction to it! Thanks!
And the beauty of Linda's vocals just adds a perfect touch and change of pace to the song. Im only guessing that Paul played both the piano which only covers up his tremendous bass work on the song. Great reaction Yall.
Wings, terribly underrated. My first concert, Wings Over America, May 15, 1976 Capital Centre Landover Maryland, a 12th birthday gift from my beautiful parents.
Macca played the drums on the entire album, 1985, which is a monster track. The Beatles are the only group and their individual members to have been inducted into the R&R HOF.
In the photo of , Band on the Run, the man on top in the back row is actor and Oscar winner, James Colburn. The band was at an English movie studio for the photo. Colburn was making a movie on a set at the same studio compound.. Paul found out and went over and asked him if he would like to be in their photo.
Awesome song from a peak solo album from Paul. For another great track, do Let Me Roll It, it is a great slow burn of a Rocker, Paul just kills it again. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Agree! You gave me something I understand You gave me loving In the palm of my hand I can't tell you how I feel My heart is like a wheel Let me roll it Let me roll it to you
Jay & Amber, missed this when posted. Another song from the album Band on the Run - "Picasso's Last Words (Drink to Me)" ... . Sir Paul McCartney was at an event with Dustin Hoffman, who asked "Can you write a song about anything?" Sir Paul replied "Well, I don't know, Maybe.” Dustin retrieved a newspaper, showing a story about the death of Pablo Picasso, and his last words were "Drink to me, drink to my health, you know I can't drink any more!" Sir Paul had his guitar, and started composing on the spot. Hoffman was "flabbergasted" ... .
When I was a kid we had the 45 record of "Band On The Run" and "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five" was on the flip side. I got to love it as much as the A side.
This album the drummer left group lead guitar before this album. It was only Paul, Linda his wife and Denny Laine. Paul would playing drums , lead guitar, bass.
That wonderful intro promises great things to come with this track, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. This closing song ends one of the best albums from the 70's that's for sure!
Band on the run and Venus & Mars are (IMO) the pinnacle of Paul M & Wings. Such a diverse range of tracks on both albums. I feel so lucky that I was a teen in that era. ; )
Thank you for re-uploading this. You mentioned Hey Jude that Paul led that. Paul wrote Hey Jude for John’s son Julian, when John divorced Cynthia & literally left Julian behind. Please check out Here, There & Everywhere- Amazing song! My love, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, I just saw a face, Juniors farm…..
May 1967 .THE BEATLES were chosen to represent BBC on the first live satélite TV world wide transmission. John Lennon composed in 3 days the song and lyrics of "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE ". The Beatles performed the song on the 22nd of May to a audience estimated of 400million TVs across the globe. Australia and New Zealand,Japan included. So..."please please me" and react to "All you need is love "... the atmospheric is similar to "Hey Jude ".lots of people singing along. You will love it. Totally Unexpected song 😊 I hope you read this
Everybody needs to remember that this was the wind up song for the album. While It stands up well on it's own, in order to get the full impact you should listen to the entire album. Then, when you get to here, it really is the perfect closing to an awesome album. The segue back into 'Band On The Run' just makes it that much better.
The fact that this incredible track is not usually mentioned as being amongst McCartney s greatest hits is the absolute proof of his amazing genius. ✌️

Always loved this song!

Paul McCartney, maybe I'm amazed true true hit.
The whole album is great and needs to be heard as a whole. Also their live album, Wings Over America, is brilliant.
Old guy here, Wings good, fire bad.............Tonto, Frankenstein, Superman
😉
This album the drummer left group lead guitar before this album. It was only Paul, Linda his wife and Denny Laine. Paul would playing drums , lead guitar, bass.
This - esp. at the end - is like fireworks - in the musical version.
My favorite Paul McCartney song
The Beatles - Let It Be
I cannot believe "Let It Be" has been ignored after all this time and hundreds of videos. It's time gang.
tahnks for the reupload :)
That wonderful intro promises great things to come with this track, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. This closing song ends one of the best albums from the 70's that's for sure!
Perfect! Thanks for re-posting!
Soilly from Wings Over America!
I love songs that build up at the end . The Boxer, I want You, and of course this one. Its definitely in my top ten list of McCartney solo songs.
Band on the run and Venus & Mars are (IMO) the pinnacle of Paul M & Wings. Such a diverse range of tracks on both albums. I feel so lucky that I was a teen in that era. ; )
Yes!! Thank you!
My favorite of his is "No Words" from this album (written with Denny Laine). Not as famous as other songs but amazing.
May 1967 .THE BEATLES were chosen to represent BBC on the first live satélite TV world wide transmission. John Lennon composed in 3 days the song and lyrics of "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE ". The Beatles performed the song on the 22nd of May
to a audience estimated of 400million TVs across the globe.
