These stories are always on my mind when i set out on a new hike. Always hoping not to become a story. But if i do dissappear i hope my story finds its way here.
Please people: take a SAT phone, don't keep on if you're starting to lose the trail, DON'T GO ALONE, be prepared, look at the weather report, don't believe the weather report take layers to keep you DRY and WARM, take a small pop up tent and a lighter. I don't know what I'm forgetting but if you go in that kind of weather you have to be prepared.
Hello Rusty, welcome back. Thank you for updating us in the disappearance of Austin King. It is always sad and tragic when people go missing in these parks or the wilderness out there. I hope that Austin is somehow found safe and alive for the sake of his family. Please, keep us post it as to new developments in Austin’s case as well as others. Prayers are with the family of Austin King so they can find peace and comfort in their minds.
Hello Rusty So nice to hear you again. 😊 I hope Austin will be found soon. My prayers and best wishes go out to his family. What a tremendous heart-breaking experience for them all. 💕
Six or seven miles with a 6,000 foot elevation gain? That is a brutal hike. The cold weather is not a friend in such circumstances. Sad for this young man, I have a son not much younger. 😟
Another chilling occurrence with no real evidence of what's truly happened to someone's loved one. Truly sad situation Rusty😢. Tyfs this with us. God bless you
We all think we can handle it..and it won't happen to me. Nature is powerful and unpredictable and humans are no match for nature. Sorry for the pain his family is going through. I couldn't imagine losing one of my boys..
The wilderness does not foregive These tragic stories are a harsh reminder of how quickly, lfe can be changed never go solo, nature knows better every trick in the book, we don't.
I discovered you @ 5 years ago, and I have been methodically listening to your videos. I find it extremely disturbing that only you, Paulides and some few others are bothering to let us know about these people. It's tragic and angering. I very much appreciate your research, time and any expenses you incur in providing these videos; while I imagine maintaining a 'job' and a family. THANK YOU! As I said, I've listened to all of your videos and am now re-listening to them in order. And many of them chill me to the bone, especially the truckers stories and the 'collection' stories. Since discovering you I have discouraged my hiker husband from going. FORTUNATELY, he has developed a foot tendon issue and has resolved that those days are over. To my relief. We don't live in the 'clusters' that have the most disappearances but still, anything can happen at any time. I understand the need for solitude by WHY do they go out for solo hikes???? So foolish, twisted ankle, rapid animal, a steep and slippery cliff.... you never know. Well, YOU stay safe and healthy Rusty. And as long as you upload I'll be here waiting to hear from you.
@@muddyshoesgardener Thank you. I hated saying it because it's denigrating someone who is probably deceased. And he does seem like a great kid. I'm 67, so he's a kid. I feel the Parks should really be putting signs up stating "DON'T HIKE ALONE. Solo trips can be dangerous". As Randy has said, it means lost revenue to the Parks, which is angering. Unless it's a huge scientific experiment, and that's why when SOME of them are found, there is no obvious reason for their deaths. SOUND can kill also.....high enough frequency. I'm wondering if hypnotism is being used along with sound, take off one shoe, then..... walk into oblivion.
I live in Europe - so might be different than hiking in the US/Canada. I'm 52 female - and do a lot of solo hikes. I love nature, it gives me peace and comfort. I am never scared while out in nature. Mind you - in Italy and Slovakia we now have the odd bears and in France and Germany we have wild boars and wolves (but they are mostly solo and not in packs). So those are the only danger we encounter. Besides, I don't belong to any risk group - if you follow DP you know he classifies the missing into certain groups: young men - mostly academics, academic professionals, older men with perhaps disabilities and unknown chronic illnesses. I've been following DP for about 13 yrs now (I first heard of him on the C2C show) and it was very clear to me from the start that he was hinting at something super natural - even though in early days he never used to answer the question when asked: What do you think it could be...? Anything can happen at any time, it's not just hikers that go missing. To be scared to go out and sit at home is foolish - I enjoy every single day I can go hiking or snowshoeing. On one of the rare walks my husband joined me last year October (he hates hiking), we met an ex work college of my husband with his girlfriend. We walked for a bit together but they decided to leave the trek early as she wasn't feeling too well and had some vertigo/balance issues after a stroke. Last month my husband met with his ex college and he told him that she had developed MS and is now in a wheelchair. *I enjoy every day I my legs take me to the end of that trek!!!* Ah, why do I do it solo? I have no friends that like hiking.. but I don't let that stop me.
Rusty, I was hoping you would provide a review and assessment on this case. Hope this young man will be found. Solo travel is especially risky in the backcountry.
Wow, nice surprise, thank you Rusty! I'm sorry to hear about the disappearance of Austin King. I would think climbing isn't a sport you would do alone, and in September, going camping around that time solo, why. Maybe it was just in his nature of experience, weather is definitely not something to challenge if you can help it.
I am sorry for his family, he may have been an avid hiker, but he was young 22 years old. The mountains and the terrain are a lot older. I hope they find him ❤️
I don't mess with the national Park it used to be owned by the government back then civilian wasn't allowed into the national Park the national park has some serious history behind it
Hey rusty long time watcher here, thought id share a couple leads on some of the disapearences in northern british columbia. Drove 1000 miles north of seattle for a roadtrip and heard about all sorts of disapearences and murders. For example the highway of tears but also alot of lesser known ones. Recomend looking some of that stuff up.
I was just thinking about Rusty the other day and wonder why we hadn't heard from him. Any why we are happy to have a post This young man fell off one of those cliff and they can find him cause it's impossible to see into every crag. With cold hand and more than likely cold feet, it couldn't see or feel his way down and it steppe off on of those cliffs. It's sad, but young men do dangerous things, it's part of their DNA. I think that was the fate of all of those people that when missing on that mountain. A life not lived is a very sad thing.
I hope he is found & perhaps some other missing hikers will also be found while looking for this young man named *Austin King* who was too young to have this happen to him. Bless his heart & peace of mind to his family
Big surprise. I'll never understand why people continue to do this. What do they expect? Do they not research what obstacles they will likely encounter or does each person think they are better than the last one who didn't come home? Going alone obviously means there is no chance for help but they continue to follow this foolhardy desire for outdoor adventure. Don't they know they are out of their league in competing with mother nature? Apparently not. 22 years old and he has given up any future adventure or life he could have had. SMH.
Experienced, experienced, everyone said he was an experienced hiker but how ready are you when you go there all by your lonesome, not wearing the right clothes by the sounds of it and most likely not even enough food to give the body energy to go on or stay till the winds and storm blow over...I feel sorry for him, most likely he's gone and they will eventually find his body maybe in the summertime...I never understood the desire to do this, or to climb Mount Everest, or any other crazy dangerous pursuits, just be ready to meet your maker then.
This is a different voice from the Rusty of many years ago, right? It just doesn't have that same .... I don't know....same sound. Anyway....amazing content from the very beginning. Thank you!
Yes. His written entry in the trail book is the best evidence. His words were not delusional. I wonder what that spot is like. Could he seek shelter nearby, or did he need to travel more? Fog. Is that common in that area, at that altitude? If so, then why. If not, then what caused it? They should be able to find some trace of him semi close near to his last written log. I feel for his family. What a beautiful young man. I am so sorry this scenario keeps happening. I think it is strange until we can piece it together. My ❤️ to the family. It's not right. It doesn't make sense.
Why aren't the Trail Flashes updated every 4 years to keep the trails easy to follow, even in foggy conditions??! Because most of the hiking trails dont have these Trail Falshes on them . Which indeed does lead people to becoming lost ev n if they have a trail map. It's the responsibility of the Parks to keep Trails Clean, properly marked & maintained. Their the problem Not the Missing people!!! 😡😡😤
My thoughts and prayers are with Austin and his family !
Hello Rusty, and thank you for your hard work. Looking forward to another com-pile-ation. There's stuff in the woods that we can't explain.
According to his letter he was slowly freezing & half blind from the weather conditions ... this is just horrific & heartbreaking💔
Your videos got better dude . Love it . Been watching for years
We’ve missed you, Rusty! Thanks for covering Austin’s case.
These stories are always on my mind when i set out on a new hike. Always hoping not to become a story. But if i do dissappear i hope my story finds its way here.
How tragic! Sounds like a nice young man. I pray his family gets answers soon 🙏🏻😥

Gallon of water and flashlight.
Especially that pop up tent. Hypothermia is no joke.
Great hearing from you Rusty
Hello Rusty good to hear from you. 7:56
I would never hike alone!
If I hike, I hike alone, so I don't hike. This is one of the saddest facts of my life. There are no hikers in my family or friend's group.

You said it all in one word “ foolish”. And for the family, “ tragic”.

Hi Rusty.🙌🏻✨💕
EXCELLENT!
There are always sad stories about hikers having gone missing in the inclimate weather. Skip hiking in snow, period.
Glad to be entertained again Rusty.! But the waits are long between uploads.
There is no entertianment value in

Hello Rusty
Rusty is speaking somewhat faster! Hallelujah!! 👍 👍 👍 🥲
Austin is from Winona Minnesota about 2 hours from me. If you are hiking everyone should carry personal locator beacon. This is very sad

Still he's missing 🤨
He's in every website
😢
I guess its easy to lose your way in the fog even at the best of time's. But on mountain trail its probably even worse.
🖤
H goodness I’ve missed you Rusty hope you have a very Merry Christmas 🎄
He froze to death, then an animal ate him
For your original fans from years ago... do a video with the original music if possible? I'd still be a fan either way just thought I'd ask.
Where have you been ? You've been me missed🎉 please start posting more often

Solo is 100% not smart! Too many evil entities out there and then just the regular issues. Nope!
He was dropped off by boat...his siverado was no where near the mountain as there are no roads back there...otherwise great video Rusty!...woods
Very strange a vibrant young man vanishes ..
Any stories about hikers found?
*EDIT:* Alive, I mean.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I believe weather got him oh well moving on
He more than likely got taken by wildlife.
