    great review - the exact analysis I needed....the real world review and good in depth on the tech and I really liked the part about "what we accept as normal for all sportbikes."

    BMW's "fix" for the flat spot at 7-8k rpm is to _move it to the top end,_ reducing power from 200 to 160 hp, about the same as a s1000r. It's called a TOM, or torque optimization map, and is a one time ecu mod done by the dealer. Not that it's bmw's fault; it's epa and noise regulations that force them into this nonsense. The only way to get rid of the flat spot is to get a 3rd party ecu flash and void your warranty, as well as break the law.

    I want to like this bike and buy it but something irks me about the engine "hum" / noise. Not the exhaust note it produces but the weird rattly sounds when the bike is in idle. I know its not a major issue once you're in the higher rpm's, it'll get drowned out but i don't know. Maybe its just the combination of timing chain + catalytic converter that's making that noise?
    Maybe its just my OCD? Regardless though the bike looks stunning in person with a shorty exhaust.

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can agree that the engine note isn't the most exciting, especially compared to some other bikes out there on the market. I just like to think the noise it makes is a characteristic of a well engineered engine, and that its pleasant in its own way.

      @willymahmoud3373 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree also about the weird noise coming from engine at idle reminds me on my cbr 1000 08 just same sound and later on had recalls , so i guess will be waiting for s1000 2021 models, i love the sweet tech nice to have on racing bike with big screen

    Great review, of a very good bike, thanks Anthony. I’m going to try one at my local dealership soon. I don’t think the M Sport is necessary, I’d rather have the forged wheels and comfier saddle🖖

    Bmw is definitely not working on a fix for the flat spot. That's your job with the tune. Bike manufacturers today will give you the tools you need, but you'll have to tune all bikes moving forward

      From what i understand an updated factory tune has been implemented for the flat spot on the RR's.

    Great video! I’ve been looking for a normal riding/commuting type review. All the other videos are just guys blasting to 150 on the freeway! I did test ride a 2016 RR when it was new and the buzzing in the handlebars was annoying. I was kinda hoping that went away until the end of your video where you mentioned it. Anyway thanks for the video. I’m looking into buying a red one soon. I’ll hit the subscribe for a great video.

    Just to be clear the 2018 model (asymmetrical headlights) was the last generation of it right?
    So this 2019-2020(symmetrical headlights) new version is still first generation or first iteration of it right?

    • @wrxguyusa
      @wrxguyusa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the US the 2019 bike was the last of the old generation and the new style are 2020 models that arrived in dealers Summer 2019. In Europe the 2019 was the first year of the new model.

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the US market, the 2018 body style bikes were the last of that generation, then in 2020 they moved to the current generation. Technically the previous generation bikes with the asymmetrical headlights were sold through 2019.

  • @goodboyringo9716

    I have never rode a super bike mostly Harleys and dirt bikes and always use the clutch , up or down.
    I did notice he's not using the clutch down or up just to take off. I was under the impression that super bikes should use the clutch on the down shift.

    • @wrxguyusa
      @wrxguyusa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The S1000RR has a feature (BMW Shift Assist Pro) to allow clutchless up and down shifts. It is a common feature across the BMW range and in many modern superbikes.

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most BMW's are ride by wire, there are no more physical throttle cables. This allows the engines computer to allow for faster "no lift shifts" by cutting timing for a millisecond during your upsbift. It's available on most bmws now, and allows for clutch-less up shifts and downshift. 👌

    I just sold my 2018 Ducati Panigale V4S to get a 2021 bmw s1000rr m package.
    The Ducati looked gorgeous & the powerband was incredible but the bike ran crazy uncomfortable hot + had a bunch of recalls.
    The clutch & the rear brake would fade every few thousand miles which turned out to be a major issue with the Panigale V4S
    I hope the s1000rr is a more reliable bike than the Ducati.

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely road test one if you can, everyone had different tolerance levels. If you are using it for commuting, you may want to look at some things that can make the bike a bit more easy day to day. Like a comfort seat and weighted bar ends!

    You have no issue whit the exhaust temp? My 2020 whit full akrapovic the engine light exhaust temp lite up. When i ride no problem, if i pull in the clutch fore a few sekens, when i stopp i lights crosses the "fault i engine control" light up. I go full gass nothing. Have to turn on and off the bike every time. Hope the Brentuning flash will fiks this.
