I found Destinies channel some days ago.
And i have to admit, i find it quite scary to see how limited the views of many people in these debates are.
The funny thing is, i have many opinions, that are similar to the people Destiny debates and i am shocked to see, that most of them didnt think through what they argue for.
What was even more shocking is, that in all these "debates", Destiny didnt debate at all;
Because he didnt need to... He took the views they had, deconstructed them and they fell apart.
What i also found interesting is, that i found someone, who goes about debates in the same manner as me, which allows me to see from a different perspective, why in my past people seemed to hate me for no appearent reason.
In conclusio, i appreciate Destiny rooting these people in reality again as i believe this to have positive influences on political developement 5-10 years down the line.

I know this is old but, I think he was trying to make a point by indirectly saying that consistently diverging to logic as the primary defence of your argument is foolish since the interpretation of what is logical to whom is not necessarily dictated by one man alone. The same can be said about any complex word he uses.
Destiny therefore conveys a vague message to his audience that is entirely up to their interpretation of any complex words he chooses to use without properly providing context as well as using simple words in conjunction with more complex ones to support the exact intentions he wishes to convey without them being misconstrued.
This makes it so destiny has a nice comfy barrier between him and any dissenters that may sway the opinion of his audience as they can just cite specific instances where his words can be interpreted in a more favourable light if they feel it’s necessary to complete whatever agenda they are pushing.
Destiny often does the exact same thing as his audience does, but he do it right in the middle of a debate G, which can be frustrating since it feels like you’re going in circles over and over

I think it can be reasonably argued that in order to call somewhat out on their own statements repeating them back to the person can challenge that same statement, but not clarifying their statement with them can lead to you arguing with what they don't believe and it becomes a strawman. I think it's always good to clarify what people are actually saying for these two reasons.

I think these types of people just hate legitimate ways of debating. It's like Destiny say they want to talk about their feelings of a topic, about generalities and about things they are annoyed at, but can't really explain or argue for. It simply takes too much brainpower for them to structure their thoughts and when people cross their path who has given a topic some thought it just trigger them beyond belief. I supposed it's uncomfortable for them having to confront the fact that simply having strong feelings about a subject and calling your debate opponent short isn't gonna cut it when they're dealing with an actual argument no matter how basic it is.

At one point Dick accuses Destiny of trying to impress the audience with his vocabulary, but I think he's projecting. Dick keeps using words like "absurdism" or "logistics" incorrectly. It gives me the impression he's going beyond his normal vocabulary to reach for more impressive sounding words. He isn't though. Every time destiny summarized what such had just said, he always added at least one word that meaningfully impacted the context of statement. Dick called out the adding of extremist, he also said dick called him racist when what dick said was that using the n-word makes him more racist, implying that racism is some binary on-off thing. Then you have function of the law, destiny gave two examples of how Trump is a racist due to his comments on illegal immigrants and one comment on the case with the huge and then concluded that Trump hates Mexicans. Dick jumped on this with the function of the law clearly intending to point out that destiny's arguments are strong cases of why Trump doesn't like illegal immigrants, not specifically Mexicans - now dick did that clumsily and it spawned into destiny challenging the one spot where that slips instead of considering or acknowledging that equating anti illegal immigration comments directly with anti Mexican comments he's drastically changing the reasonable accusation he was trying to build up to.
What I watched was a debate that started with dick introducing what he wanted to discuss as being destiny's tendency to misrepresent arguments, which was quickly turned by destiny into a different argument entirely about Trump, and through the whole thing dick lost composure because he want able to adequately describe to destiny his issue with destiny's tactics while destiny was both using them and not realizing he was using them. Of course, my big paragraph here likely demonstrates I'm not all that eloquent either.
I don't like Trump, I don't think Trump's intentions behind the wall was as good as dick said they are, I agree with dick that stopping further illegal immigration would be an important step in finding a way to rebalance the horrible injustices illegal immigrants face, and I don't think actually cares about Mexicans either for or against - in the case with the judge I believe he was trying anything to put off yet another lawsuit, but I'm mostly bothered by this debate becoming so much about Trump and not about any form of the self reflection dick was trying to get destiny to do. I might be more ultimately politically aligned with destiny, hard to tell what he really believes from just this debate though it's incredibly clear where dick stands, but I'd much rather hang out with dick. Insults don't bother me all that much. But I cannot stand when someone resorts to you mad bro.
He's just replacing the weasel words in their speech with actual meaningfull words, and then asks them if that was what they meant. He then asks them if this is what they meant. They're completely free to clarify their statement. They never do. You know why ? Because thats exactly what they meant but they're embarassed about it, and all they got to fall back on is insults and sass.

Aureliano Legna what you think of the quality of the words being replaced doesn't change the fact that he's replacing words, and in the instances where dick points out that it's not what he said destiny's response was often "but that's what you said". Each time, the little twists only lead to more distraction from whatever they were supposed to have been discussing. And the function of the law point isn't that it doesn't apply in that one case, which I already conceded, it's that he used that comment to blur right past what was trying to be said straight into a different fight here was sure he could win. Any time anything came up that destiny could have been wrong on, he'd immediately pivot to something else, the function of the law thing is just an example where he did so.
This seems to be how destiny is able to project some sort of victory. Before he even gives you time to think about where he might be faltering, he's halfway through a sentence about something else marginally related.
You're just subscribing to a the fallacious defense that there is an overarching point beyond the examples that Destiny was distracting from by asking Dick to substantiate his claims. There isnt. If a claim is not substantiated, it's null and void. If the first example you can think to illustrate it is bad and easily debunked, then it's a pretty clear indicator that your arguement is shit. That's the entire point of this conversation. It showcases how poor Dick's examples are, a telltale sign that his position is flimsy and based on extremely subjective fundations.
You people keep arguing about the "technique", the "sophistry", because that's all you can actually fight against. There is not a single valid point in your arsenal that would survive any kind of simple scrutiny, as is perfectly exemplified here. All Dick can fall back on is insults and calling Destiny a bad person and "cancer", then unilateraly proclaim victory over some bullshit that doesn't even make any kind of logical sense.
