Hard to believe she is such a powerful better being only 5' 2" tall. Broken Wing is another powerful song about abuse. She sings about such tough topics.

Her and Pat Bennetar did a crossroads show together, they were incredible together and have a lot incommon.
A good country song tells a story.
Martina has some amazingly powerful songs like this. 'Love you through it' about Cancer survivors. 'Concrete angel' about child abuse. She also has amazingly beautiful songs like my personal favorite; 'Anyway'. 'My baby loves me; shows her spunky side.
Concrete Angel is such a great song with a deep message. But still one of her best. And Broken Wing is another great one. You really get to hear her vocal range in that one. Both very good songs to react to. Both must be the original video.

Gretchen Peters wrote this. There are some versions of her singing it live on YT, stripped down and slowed down. Very powerful. Also recommended: There was a show Crossroads, which paired artists from different genres. She appeared with Pat Benatar, one of her role models. They did several of their songs together, but when they did this, the look on Martina's face was priceless. Pat Benatar launched into that chorus with everything she had and you could tell this was one of the highlights of Martina's life.

This song is a shout out to a movie called The burning bed. A real story about a woman who finally had enough of her husbands domestic violence against her & her children
Martina is pure gold. An epic song.
Broken wing is another song about domestic violence she sang. She has helped a lot of people with her music. She is a very small woman with a giant voice.
concrete angel and broken wing by Martina also deal with abuse. She really tried to use her platform to advocate for those who were in situations that couldn't advocate for themselves. Another great song by her is God's Will. Not abuse related but still a heartfelt subject. She also puts alot of effort into making sure her videos are the best they can be. For example, when she's standing in front of the burning house, she is actually getting hit with the flames. She was too close. But the cameras were rolling and she realized they only had one chance to shoot the shot...it's not like they could re-set the house on fire. So she did her thing and didn't tell anyone about her burns until after the entire video had been filmed.
She had to battle radio stations to get this played! They thought it would promote domestic abuse. She had to explain that it was to draw attention to the problem, not promote it!

Martina is a Trooper....... In the scene where she is singing in front of the Burning House, They had staged her to close to the house and the embers where landing on her back burning her shirt...... Knowing they only had one chance at the take, (It would take to long to move everything and re-set-up) she endured the embers and performed..... You can't tell by her performance she is getting burned.....

Martina was a backup vocalist for Garth Brooks and he told her you are way to good to be doing this. She then used her platform to raise social issues. "Concrete Angel" (highly emotional warning) or "Broken Wing" are AMAZING!!!! My low down favorite of hers is God's Will about a boy named Will. You hit it, her voice is gorgeous and rings with power. Yes Monster hit.(subbed)

My favorite songs from Martina McBride are That’s Me, Independence Day, That Wasn’t Me, Wrong Again, and Still Holding On (duet with Clint Black). She has amazing range and power. You can feel her emotions every time she sings with that golden voice.

Martina, oddly enough was discovered selling T shirts at Garth Brooks concert. Her husband worked on Garths stage crew, and convinced Garth to give her a shot. The rest is history. She has such a powerful vocal, with many hits during the 90's and even today. 🤠

A great voice with an extremely important message. Unfortunately when Martine McBride originally released this song, it was banned from being played on radios do to the domestic violence portrayed in the song. Thankfully the radio stations finally removed their heads from their nether regions to put this song on the air. As someone who grew up in a violent home of child and domestic abuse(verbal in my parents case, my biological father saved all the other types of abuse for his children), I truly love it when people watch videos like these so that the issue becomes more wide spread knowledge. Songs and videos like this helped break that damned and destructive saying and view, "That what happens in the home stays in the home". The HELL that happened to me was in MY HOME. Thank you for watching this and helping to spread awareness!

A Dimash Dear here, Martina McBride, like Dimash, always tackled hard subjects, abuse being top of her list. Concrete Angel is another one of her songs that definitely should follow Independence Day, she’s a powerhouse that used her platform to speak out for victims.❤If you weren’t already aware, Dimash is an Ambassador of Peace, speaking out against war, even after receiving death threats. He composed War and Peace and more recently worked on a 3 year project composing , writing the script and acting in The Story of One Sky, I truly appreciate when artists take a stand for what right or wrong in this world ❤.

Always glad to see Martina. This is the music video for the single's release and you really need to see this woman live. Martina performed this song at Farm Aid: Concert for America 2001, just 18 days after the 9/11 attack and you owe it to yourself to watch that one; the a cappella intro puts the lyrics to a new context and the performance is powerful. For reaction I would suggest her live performance of "Where Would You Be" at the 2002 CMT Flameworthy Awards.
There was a tv movie based on this true story. It was called The Burning Bed. It was when we learned Farrah Faucet actually was a very good actress. She played the leading roll.

She married a guy named John McBride who was on Garth Brooks' road crew. (He can be seen in Brooks' first TV special "This Is Garth Brooks".) She ended up opening for Brooks on his first world tour once she got a recording contract.

This was one of those rare "cross over" songs that was very popular on both Country and Pop charts. Many of Martinas' songs were "cross over hits"!

Piggybacking on many comments so far, Martina definitely does not shy away from difficult subjects such as spousal abuse in this one, and child abuse in "Concrete Angel" which I highly recommend. If you do it - well, it's a tough video to get through because those who produced it did not hold back.
I LOVED this song everytime it came on the radio. I would sing it like crazy, but as a kid, I never really listened to the lyric's meanings. Then I saw the music video, and I couldn't listen to the song anymore for years without crying. I love my mom, she's my best friend. I couldn't imagine losing her and this song would make me ball. I can listen to it now and I still love it, but damn...that moment you realize what the song was about.

This song was written about the true life story of Francine Hughes which became a book and a movie entitled "The Burning Bed" with Farrah Fawcett. Francine was found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. The song was written by Gretchen Peters which was turned down by Reba McEntire, paving the way for Martina McBride's hit.

Safe In The Arms Of Love is my favorite song by Martina.
Martina is a real powerhouse singer, with so many great songs. Concrete Angel (the official video) is a sobering song about child abuse, but two other songs that are really great are also Love's the Only House with social justice themes and Whatever You Say which may be her most powerful vocal.
Where would you be is a great one if you truly want to hear her amazing range.

During the filming of Martina Infront of the fire no one knew but she was standing to close to the house but she knew they only had one take for that scene so she put the pain into her performance. No one knew she got burned until the end. Shes absolutely incredible women! Broken wing is one of my top favorites.

LOOK UP crossroads Martina Mcbride and Pat Benatar singing this song . Pat's voice will knock you out with this one . Martina was shocked at the power she put behind it , It's a MUST LISTEN as both artist are strong woman singers . Keep doing what your doing and ty for this one :)
This song was so controversial when it came out that many radio stations would not air the song. They considered the message of the song too much pain, or too much revenge, or just too difficult for some listeners to hear.
I was in Murfreesboro TN the day that this was filmed while showing a 4th of July. The only problem was that the temperature was 28 degrees.

Well, there is one more song from Martina that deals with DV, and that is Concrete Angel. There is also a few from metal. They are NEVER AGAIN by Nickelback, DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS by Disturbed (the extended cut), and ALISHA LIED by I do not know the artist. There is also the cover of Garth Brooks done by State of Mine named THE THUNDER ROLLS. Just to name a few.

This is probably Martina's signature song although it initially wasn't a hit as it didn't even crack the top 10 on the country charts because many country stations refused to play it because of the sensitive subject matter. Shortly after the song was released the OJ/Nicole Brown Simpson tragedy occurred which made this song more relevant and got it more airplay.
If this is her signature song "A Broken Wing" would be 1A.
I first saw her opening for Garth Brooks in the early 90s. She debuted this song on that tour and we all knew she was something special. 5foot nothing and about 90 pounds with that powerhouse voice. We were blown away. Love your channel BTW
