That was the time, when Statesmen were running for president and, while having different approaches towards their goal in moving the USA forward, they still had respect for each other. When McCain lied to Letterman about why he had canceled his appearance when he could so easily be found out about it, I felt sorry for McCain that he was out of his depth and presumably rather exhausted. You have more citizens imprisoned than any other country in the entire world, and the return rate for state prisoners was over 83%, amongst the highest in the world. You are correct. Reagan, W Bush, Kerry, Gore, And B Clinton could do it too.
That was B.O. Before Obama.
That was the time, when Statesmen were running for president and, while having different approaches towards their goal in moving the USA forward, they still had respect for each other. Sadly, that Republican party (the one of John) is all but dead. Now it is fully trumpism.....

We can’t blame one party or the other for America’s wrongs, lets be real here, it’s both parties and if one cannot see that then they are blind and deaf to the world.

What a shame that all elected Republicans since his death have put Trump 1st, party 2nd the USA 3rd, and democracy 4th.......
I am kinda liberal but I love Reps like John McCain: they honour the true values of the late GOP.
The fact that John McCain, specifically asked Obama to do the eulogy for John's funeral, speaks how highly they respected each other!

McCain and Obama respected each other so much it’s admirable. It all seems like a different timeline now
Years later, Obama spoke at McCain‘s funeral. Mind blowing where our country has gone since this. 😭. But if McCain was alive, he’d tell us to change it. Let’s do it.
Man, I miss these guys. Imagine that there was once a time when there were decent human beings in BOTH parties.
Civility. Decency. Respect.
Something the current incumbent has ZERO of.
McCain's Joe the plumber joke was underrated.
I forgot all about Joe the plumber. XD
I don't get it.
@@EliteNHX110 and @Manus President Obama used to say "Joe the plumber" as an archetype representing the average American. He would say it in debates when he was speaking directly to the camera to create a connection with the viewer.
@@anthonyz9197 wow, I was thinking that "Joe the Plumber" refers to Joe Biden, thanks for the explanation!
@@mdaffasuryanindra2016 bidens why we need joe the plummer ( or any plummer) 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩
It blows my mind how far down the gutter we have fallen in just a few short years.
I'm delighted to see you here tonight, Hillary.
* *Hillary Clinton laughing in a dark suspicious shadow.* *
A true Republican who I admire, in the end it should not be about left or right. May you rest in paradise Mr. McCain. I wish more would work together for the future of this great country.
This is the level of integrity and class that we should demand from people running for President
Back when politics wasn't personal and was still civil....miss those days. Both these men were class acts
Senator John McCain was truly a real AMERICAN HERO, as Former President Obama and so many well loved and respected in our continental US. He was indeed Heroic. Sadly missed
It must be fun knowing right off the bat if your president is joking or not.
Trump just says stupid shit and then says he was joking as a lame defense
THAT was lmfao funny ur text!
Who's here because we miss the days of decency and honest differences of opinion?
meee!
I'm a progressive and my coworker is a republican. Although we don't agree a lot politically we have mutual respect for each others ideals and enjoy our time together. Its sad that respect for one another and the ability to have civil debate has become as rare and mythical that its like finding a unicorn.
I am even looking at old material of "Joe the Plumber"...can you imagine...just common decency
Yes!!
I wasn't, but I am now. What a complete opposite things are today. Hopefully things can change back now.
I so miss those days. I hope that we can get them back.
Trump at dinner: "i had a great presidency, some say it was...THE best in the history of america, and perhaps...the...world..."
" And the votes are fake...... Except when I win of course"
lol can't help but read it in his voice
@@eraart7234 haha
Actually he would go "Many people are saying I am the greatest president every. Lots of important people, historians." Someone asks "like who" and he screams "what news outlet are you from? Well you are fake news."
At which point the audience breaks out in laughter
I MISS the days when political rivals could set aside their partisanship to entertain a crowd, and could rib each other without it devolving into nastiness. Hard to believe that 4 excruciating years have soiled the political landscape so deeply.
And I'm afraid it might be permanent soiling. Even if Trump gets kicked out of office this January, the damage is already done. We'll still be heavily divided.
I guess American people have changed. Honor, respect, and pride have been erased from the American dictionary. On the other hand, what goes up, must come down..... America good-bye!
Yeah, that is funny I have noticed for the last 4 years how the left is offering the olive branch to the right.
Those were the days...before the Bulldozer in chief took the country.
Grateful Trump and Hillary did this 4 years ago too
@@Lq32332so what's the latest q anon theory?
I really miss this kind of interaction. It seems like another lifetime ago. 2 men who were opponents, not enemies. Who were able to laugh at themselves, and each other. And who were just 2 decent people running for the most important office in the land.
