love your ideas about calindex, and month on two pages (i have the redundancy problem as well). it is so incredibly helpful to know others' thought processes. i love the "to do" overflow to the daily idea and the idea of putting week-specific things on the far left.
I just realised that the way you use hobonichi is very close to bullet journal!!! Also one idea per page is a very helpful tip for note taking. Thank you!!
I got some good ideas to try. I have been using a Weeks for work and another Weeks for personal. I kept tossing around the idea of Cousin for work because of I now work at 2 different locations and there is certain information i need with me at all times, it was the size of Cousin but I ended up buying a large monthly/weekly book because of needing more room, back to idea of try Cousin. I had been if doing journaling and doodling in my Cousin, but I am going to take my Cousin and try what I learned from you to end of year. Ordered my Hobonichi's for 2018, should be here next week.
Thanks so much! Glad you found it useful. I really love using the Cousin for work - it has enough room to fit in everything, but I don't find it too heavy if it's the only planner I'm carrying (apart from the Weeks, haha - but that's so lightweight I hardly notice it!) Hope you've received your Hobo order - mine is still stuck in customs, waaah!
Thank you for your reviews. I was trying to decide which paper planner to buy and your videos helped a lot. I loved the way you use the Hobonichi Cousin! That's probably one of the best option for my needs, but it would cost me a fortune to import. So I made my own pages using the layout as a reference and put them in my A5 Arc. I'll probably add some Inkwell inspired pages too. Not the same quality of course, but hopefully it'll work as well.
As usual, really enjoyed your video. I have used the Hobonichi A6 as my work planner pretty much as you use the cousin. Now, I'm thinking about using the mega Weeks for my work planner. Haven't used a Weeks yet. I am also very intrigued by the new 5 year planner. To try for a little frugality, I'm wanting to hold off my Hobonichi order till after the 5 year techo goes on sale! But I'm caving a little more every day. I don't think I'll make it! Oh well what's a little extra shipping!
Thank you so much! It would be interesting to use the Weeks as a work planner. It's really tempting, but I don't think I want to live without the timeline! And waiting to order until the 5-year techo goes on sale would be impossible to endure, I think...:)
I agree about the hobonichi weeks mega. it would be great if it will be a cousin-mini, all the same content, but in the smaller size, right? I would even agree with the shared weekend then, just as it was in the vertical midori weeklies. I guess there is a room for improvement here. I will write to hobonichi about it. Then it's not just wishful thinking. I guess that's what I try to do with my planner every year- yearly, monthly, weekly and daily and notes all in one planner, just because the paper is so thick, I use rings, otherwise it's too thick. But with Timoe river paper and all in one book, that kind of hobonichi would be heaven! (I know one person who works on the fauxbonichi inserts in midori standard size now, I place high hopes that they will be finished before 2018, so I could use them for the next year! I'm so happy about it! That's my backup plan for my own mini-Cousin! If you can't get it, make it yourself! ha ha ) Btw, I always thank you for the rings that you send me, they are so small and portable, and exactly what I need on the go! Do you do anything with your saffiano filofax now?
Yes, exactly, a Cousin-mini would be our dream! Well done for writing to Hobonichi about it. Glad you're enjoying the rings :) I'm not using the Saffiano now - I decided I had so many Weeks covers that I needed to get rid of some, because I'm not even using a cover for my Weeks at all now! I did a trade with someone at a planner meetup. It was a beautiful cover, but I wasn't using it and because of the size, I couldn't use it for anything else.
By the way, I wanted to answer your other question about why I don't use a Hobonichi cover, but I couldn't find it! I do love Hobonichi covers, and I have a few of them (I was using the SSACK cover before I got this one) - but I was looking for one that had a pen loop which was more protected than the Hobonichi ones. I also don't really like the nylon ones because they get dirty easily, and I don't like the plastic cover-on-covers. But I do love the design - and I've ordered a few Hobonichi covers along with my 2018 Weeks!
i agree. i'm moving from an Erin Condren and watching art journaling videos, but i have seen some in which it is expressed that when it comes to forward and present planning, simple keeps the mind clear. i agree!! for me anyway.
i enjoyed the video, thanks for making it! i wonder, why don't you use the hobonichi cover? I really like them by themselves, even without the hobonichi
I so want a a6 with the weekly layout, i think even it is a horizontal layouts, like the weeks but spread over two pages. I tried the a6 supplement and i realised i dont use the time bit. Just to note down things to do and notes and some ideas.

Very helpful, thanks. I ordered a Cousin to use for next year for work, and was feeling a little guilty that I didn't want to decorate the pages...
Definitely no need to feel guilty about that! The Hobonichi layout is so beautiful I feel like it doesn't need anything else :)

Yes! I really wish they would add a weekly layout!
I like your cover. Where did you get it?
There's a link in the description box above. I'm going to do a review of it later in the week - I should have done that video first!
FYI the lighting was poor for this video. Thank you for time and sharing.
Yes, sorry about that - I didn't have time to film during the day and had to do it in the evening.
