I hired a cleaner. Watching him set up equipment and conversating with him I asked " do you have a crb ? " . He said what's a crb?..... in my gut I knew I should have said oh...maybe were not a good match for what I expect....but I let him do the work. The result was very mediocre.. as I expected. 3 wks later I hired a true professional to redo the work. I would pay 3 times the amount to have it done right.... quality clients dont haggle over money. When you find an excellent provider. .. your glad to pay for the best care... I tipped the technician 100$ above the fee because to have it done right means the world to me... do the job right and charge accordingly...dont short change yourself if your following the iicrc standards..youre worth it!!!

I am curious Teri, were you in the industry at one time? If not how did you know about the CRB. Its refreshing whan I meet and informed client.

Makes perfect sense, after Christmas I enter the price shoppers war. Mainly because my whole system is not heard of here in the small town I live so I have to get known out there. This year if I never had back problems I was going to get out there and show the likes of Real Estate agents how a carpet can be cleaned, I will probably offer them $50 per room more if there are stains, pet or other.

Yes, in many places customers have never seen a good cleaning. In fact even in big citys it is a rare thing to have a really great cleaning. Most of what marketing is for a carpet cleaner is to convince customers that you are different.

I’m a digital marketing graduate your information is very usual. I’m currently transitioning from a care home housekeeper to owing carpet cleaning company. Thank you for your videos. It’s appreciated. Brian from Canada

Thank you for answering my questions 🙂 while I'm not a bottom end cleaner, most of my calls are regarding price.
I'm going to start doing a lot more home visits now. Thank you

No problem Chris, I am happy to answer any viewer question. Also having a higher minamum will help a lot with price shoppers. When you say my min in $150 the price shoppers will tend to go away.

What about requiring an upfront deposit that states if any cancellation or reschedule within 24 hours of the appointment forfeits their deposit? Maybe 20% or fixed amount. I am just getting into the business and this is how we are structuring our scheduling.

Of course this is always an opinion not sure how I forgot to mention it. Some people will resist the deposit idea but most I believe will be ok with it. However it may be more difficult later when you are running multiple trucks 10 or more jobs per day logistically managing the deposits. Make sure you create a system for managing this now when you are just getting started.

@@carpetcleanertraining8020 Yes, We are using a CRM now to handle all of the deposits and invoicing and can be used later as well for dispatching and scheduling of employees when that comes to pass as well. I always try to think "down the line" and use the "When we get bigger" philosophy of thinking about how to implement different systems and procedures. Thanks for taking the time to create these videos and thanks for the advice! Keep up the awesome work.
