      The 1932S along with the 1932D are the key dates of the Washington quarter series. The 1932-S would be very special to me. It would be a welcome addition to anyone’s Washington quarter collection.

    Hey silverpicker I'm %75 Cherokee, and I don't find it offensive although the head dress is inaccurate if we're talking about the 5 civilized tribes, and I find it interesting that older generations that I talk to atleast called Buffalo nickels, indian head nickels, and Indian head pennies liberty pennies.

    Ms 1886 o Morgan only 30 bucks? They start at a grand in mint state. It’s one of the biggest conditional rarities of the Morgan series.

    • @cruisedeshevy7301
      @cruisedeshevy7301 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are also worth a mere $90 at AU , that one likely has wear or is cleaned

    • @Andrux0821
      @Andrux0821 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it was an au or a problem coin it would have been addressed and corrected by him in the video due to the huge jump in value from au-unc. Plus $90 is base au50 grade.

    • @daviswall3319
      @daviswall3319 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. He’s checking for the “cartwheel” or original luster, by moving it back and forth quickly in the light

    • @Andrux0821
      @Andrux0821 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@daviswall3319 remember, in 1886, the New Orleans stuck coins so badly that barely, if any coins had much luster. That’s why the majority of the population in mint state are graded ms60 or ms61.

    • @daviswall3319
      @daviswall3319 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey yo. My mama’s from New Orleans. Heh heh. I hear you and I think we’re closer to the same page than one might think. Perhaps 30 is a bit low but coin looks cleaned to me. I don’t see mint state. That’s subjective I know but that’s numismatics. Achoo !! Sorry I’m overdue for my Ag shot. 🐵 Ultimately though, it’s worth what someone with the cash is willing to pay. I’ve never sold to Picker but surely there’s some room for negotiation if the seller decides it’s necessary. He comes across as very fair - for a Yankee. Heh heh. Love the channel Silverpicker. Been watching since before you were willing to release your identity. Much respect

  • @tobin1677

    Pretty sick collection my guy, as someone who can't afford to collect I live vicariously through videos like this, and its great to see the coins getting respected this way. Also as an Onondaga descendant I would say the term Indian makes no difference to me in any context, and I would bet most people agree. Plus its not like offensive imagery is really a priority when a lot of the lands tribes currently have don't even have potable water. As an example, in the Navajo territories, its estimated that 30-40% of people don't even have piped water, let alone clean drinking water. If people want to do something for the Native communities, instead of getting offended and changing names for us (looking at you Washington football) why not help push for clean water?

    18:43 The "large size" could also be referring to the fact that that quarter has two varieties--one with a large 0 (zero) in the date and one with a small zero.

    I agree with Russell Means, and paraphrase his memoir: Columbus was correct from the start when he saw that the natives he'd found were "In Dio" or "of God." Like Means, I also prefer Indian to any other more polysyllabic silliness. Call us "American" Indians if you want to be even more specific (or Canadienne, or Mezto, or...), but we are ALL native to where we are born. So "Indian Head Cent" seems suitably descriptive.
    (edit: you DID qualify the solicitation, so my "credentials" include Tlingit and Lummi ancestry, both NW American/Canadian.)

    9:28 reminds me of a question I'd like to have answered. I have an 1884 Morgan from Philadelphia (I assume due to a lack of a mint mark) that has a feature I've never seen on any coin. So, normal coins when you flip them, the two faces (obverse/reverse) are in two different orientations from one another (180 degree offset). Not this Morgan. Both faces are the same orientation such that with the head standing up, the eagle is also upright on the reverse. Is that a normal thing? Or did I happen across some weird error/counterfeit?

    • @chirrrs
      @chirrrs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a website called VAMworld that lists know die rotations. I didn't come across an entry for 1884. It could be a counterfeit, but perhaps it's worth taking in to a dealer to have them take a look.

    @davefried 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    In 1879, the Mint made Morgan Silver Dollars with two different reverses. The first, called "Reverse of 1878 or "Second Reverse"" was a holdover from the previous year and shows a flat-breasted eagle and a flat feather on the top fletch of the arrows. The second, call "Reverse of 1879" or "Third Reverse" has an eagle with a nice, rounded breast and a slanted feather on the top fletch of the arrows. The Reverse of 1878 is considerably rarer than the Reverse of 1879, especially in high grades.

    Love your videos, and I DO watch all the way through. One thing, though, even on a big screen TV, the coins don't show up well enough to see any detail. They're too far from the camera. I can make out the coin types, but that's about it. Maybe a 4k camera with a close-up lens? I have quite a collection of coins that I started in the 1960s, but more seriously in the 1990s. Lots of Indian heads (it's Liberty with an Indian headdress, of course, not an Indian). At one time, I was collecting as many 1908-S IHCs as I could find. Mostly in F-15 to VF-35. I have a full US Type coin album with many higher-grade examples. I'm getting to the age where I'm thinking of selling the collection. I could go to a nearby coin shop (Houston) but you seem like you pay fair prices. I'll let you know if I get serious about selling and we can discuss what I have in more detail. I'd have to go through them and itemize the collection in a spreadsheet.

    i was sent some silver that i ordered and to my surprise i ended up with a 1943 walking liberty half dollar, my very first such coin. After a closer look at the date the 4 and the 3 both have what looks like moon shape after it and the reverse in E Pludimus all letter have shadow letters after them, i dont know anyone in my area thats credible, is it possible for this coin and year. A coin dealer offered 100 dollars for it says theres nothing wrong with it, im thinking he saw what i saw. is it worth trying to get it graded and proove or disproove the possible errors
