I was at San Pedro in january. It was the most amazing place I had been in all my life. If you have the opportunity to go there, don't think twice

Yes I went there driving a rented car ! Loved every minute , petrol stations were the difficult to find , I would bring a petrol gallon

If you're outside of Chile definitely make sure you book plane tickets through the Chilean site!! I think they were approx 4x more expensive on the website specifically for my English speaking country

Jon I love these budget videos-- please make more when you eventually get to travel more! (someday... we hope... lol) I too want to see more of Chile but don't have tons of cash laying around... so these are some awesome tips.

He had a place there and he would invite his best friends on an excursion every year that would last a few weeks in the Andes. Aguanaco might be another Spanish local name for them. Great video as always, liked the tips. Maybe mention more U.S. prices if you can. Happy Father's Day too.

HOW did you get those airplane tix so cheap? Online shows them at about US$100 which is insane
As a solo traveller, I find tip #3 not very practical. After considering fronting the expense of rental car and fuel, I would be better tainf the tour. I also consider how much would be worth not to be the one doing the driving or figuring out the way. Of course, I could find other people to share the experience and split the expense at my hostel but i would probably be stuck driving myself due to liabilities.
Nice 👍🏻, you may have to buy or get a better and powerful lens, but you do an amazing job

Just out of curiosity, was your rental car a 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive? How was the quality of roads? Can you manage with 2 wheel drive car?
I think it was just two wheel drive. The "Duster" car was great. It doesn't need to be much more than this I don't think!

Atacama does not appear to offer a very impressive landscape when compared to what the Sahara, Rub al-Khair (Empty Quarters) or other Saudi-Emirati-Omani landscapes offer. Even the desert landscape in Nevada looks better, to be honest. Is this the main tourist attraction for Chile?
It's not, but if you like deserts you better stay where you are.
It has to do with the 'energy' which you can experience there... It's called: 'Pacha Mama'. That 'energy' can only be felt in Southamerica. It's not just about landscapes. That's the difference.
