My name is Rick, I am also called Poppy, (Grandkids Named me that) I am a life long Elvis fan since 1962....I am a professional musician, who primarily played guitar in some bands and played solo in my later years in small venues, like coffee shops and some nightclubs. I taught guitar for a few years too.I also spent many hours over the years as a studio guitarist for studios, through out the south.Mainly for local talent recording demos. I cut my teeth on the mixing aspect back when it was analog..No Digital, No Computers. I have my own home studio where i just do my own thing for a hobby and escape from the real world.
13 years ago, I decided to teach a course in "Song Production in the Analog World" I did it for 3 years during the summers as continued education at the local community college evening classes for anyone interested. I called my Class "Inside the Studio with RJ" We used real 8 track equipment and real instruments and then mixed for each semester....It was a blast....So that is how I created my series "Inside The Studio". I hope you find them interesting

This man was a true gentleman. He had so much love and music to give with great humbleness. I saw him in concert in Charleston ,WV . I’m 82 yrs. old and still can’t get enough of his music. Love him with all my heart. God really blessed him with a beautiful voice.

Elvis is used to such an extreme work ethic- two shows nightly in Las Vegas - starting with the Hay Rides traveling city to city sleeping in the back of the car. Totally agree except I love the Acapella Gospel Music too as everyone gets to hear and experience the real talents of ELVIS! In all the Comeback 68 tapes you also get to see and experience the professionalism and perfectionist Elvis Presley was in every piece of music be performed and recorded.
I have the video of this Hawaii concert. They put the little black boxes in the corner of the screen with him singing. Then the pic is if the Hawaii beach. It’s really fantastic.
It took a few years before I found out it was after the show still great singing especially early mornin rain plus the footage of beautiful Hawaii circa 1973.

He was so talented he didn’t have to have them put the songs together like a puzzle. He could get them in 2 or 3 takes at the most. He like to start from the start. If he messed up. He would start all over. That’s such amazing talent. There will never be another who had such natural talent for music. This is after a full show where he’s been on for an hour or two. He did this at like 3 am. I forget exactly what they said. But he was exhausted. He was determined to get it right. I’m amazed he could sing in that beautiful voice any time. Didn’t matter when. He was so tired when they did this. I remember them saying it was the middle of the night.

Loved this great to see the back end of the how things came together we just saw the end result. That night was magic wasn’t it? I was a kid but I’ll never forget that concert. Elvis is magic he’s been in my life since I was 6 i love when he laughs and is just being him.

Think about it, he stayed up all night and did this after a full show on dress rehearsal night. This was about 3 or 4 am. I saw them talking about it on another video. He was exhausted. He got up the next day so he could get a hair cut cause he didn’t like how long it was on this dress rehearsal. I love to hear them talk about the little quirks he had. Elvis was very much a perfectionist. Linda was sitting down there with Charlie and the others while he was doing this.
Gracie, I loved his hair much better at the rehearsal..more youthful and familiar hair style in Vegas.
His voice is amazing even with the these first two songs..imo..are just meh. Love this video a lot..fun to see him rehearse.
I have a feeling that Elvis was really sad on that time, just look at his eyes and his face, seems likes his having a big battle on his head, and still singing like a Angel, love him so much.

He had just done a whole concert. This was done about 4 am. He was exhausted. He did two concerts two days apart. The one that was a rehearsal on the 12th. Then the whole concert on the 14th. Then this was done at about 4 am after the second concert. The concert was done at 12 midnite to get it to play at prime time in the USA mainland. Those people came at midnight to see him. People don’t realize how hard Elvis worked to do the concerts. His entire band and back up singers stayed up all night. This has to be exhausting. Its all being recorded live as we watch this. RCA recorded the concerts and all this. They have him sing the songs over and over. He went to bed at 8 thst morning. Then at 12 the guys came cause they were supposed to go do something the colonel set on the schedule. But Elvis was too tired. This is all in the book Linda wrote about her life with Elvis, she was with him at this concert. Finally late that night they went to bed, rested and the next day he had to go back Las Vegas and rest that night then the next day he had to do Las Vegas to do his shows at the international hotel. At the international They said he was really tired. They had flown 17 hrs I think they said it was. Can’t remember. Get Linda’s book to read. Sonny and Red and the guys said he tried to rest in flight but it was too hard to do. That’s why he got so irritated when they coughed in the middle of his song. He was really was an amazing man. He didn’t fuss about the heavy schedule. He wasn’t frail like singers of today. He worked to what he did. They said one day he got to take off to go back to Memphis. He got there and went to bed and slept for two days.
He gave his all to his fans. And we love him forever do it.💖😍

I was 11 yrs old also. We had a blizzard in January of 1978. School was canceled and all I did was listen to his records and watch his movies (back then they played Elvis movies for his birthday and death day all week long)

Elvis was famous for nailing a song when recording the first time. Seldom did he have more than 5 takes unless he was very tired. But this recording was happening at about 4 am. After the dress rehearsal full concert. He was tired but he had two days to relax before the main concert on the 14th.
I felt bad for Elvis cause he occasionally forgot lyrics of songs he liked. But you got to remember he had hundreds of songs he remembered lyrics.
Charlie is down there at the bottom with the lyrics boards. Did you notice? Charlie was always the one who did lyrics boards for Elvis.
Also the band is back there behind the curtain playing. They can’t see Elvis so it’s so hard for them. The back up singers and band are used to watching Elvis. He gives them hand directions. All the time.
I just keep thinking about how tired they all are. And they are working stressed. It’s early morning like about 6 am by now.

I was lucky enough to win tickets from my favorite radio station back then that was sponsoring a contest for people who worked and couldn’t camp out in front of the stadium that he would be performing at. People actually camped out for 4 days just to buy tickets to see him perform. I had just started a full time job and couldn’t camp out. Winning those tickets to see Elvis perform live made that dream come true! I will never forget it and there was nothing better than to see and hear the best entertainer ever perform live!!! After all these years I still love Elvis and listen to his music and watch every video of all the different artists who keep his music alive for all of us who have loved Elvis and his music and always will! All those films prepared Elvis for the tedious re-takes. After the high of performing to a billion people in the show how he could be bothered to stay on the stage and record these songs is a credit to him. Can’t think of any superstar today who would do this. No wonder he seemed worn out.

Elvis was my favourite singer I could listen to him over and over again. He was a good entertainer.
Watching this on dvd l really don't know how Elvis could stand up , he was so tired. Such a perfectionist kept going, until it was just right. Elvis did this l believe after the rehearsal show as TV Broadcast wanted Hawaiian songs for USA TV. Think that is how l understood article. They wanted too much of Elvis, no one else would have had to put up with such demands. Makes me sad each time l watch my dvd of this. The human body can only take so much. Yes, you're right! After the rehearsal show he had his hair cut and ordered a new belt. You can see Elvis is amused - check 3 minutes or so - when trying to adjust his belt. Bought anniversary dvd 2003 incl. these videos. Elvis is in good mood although the actual satellite show was the next challenge but Elvis survived...💕

Anyway was best thing to happen to me. Have over 700 tracks and all the Good dvds of concerts 68 Comback Las Vegas shows and Hawaii l like the best. 💃🕺🇦🇺🙋♀️🦘 Picking up my brother to stay weekend he has to put up with Elvis non stop. Been listening to Elvis since just a kid and I didn't even know who he was - simply loved him and his voice and afterwards Elvis' overwhelming charismatic presence. This is so cool because we get to see Elvis the artist during recording. He's so focused and he hears everything, someone coughing or when band member in the group misses the chord changes @ 17:30. When it came to his music he was a perfectionist and he expected everyone to be at their best just as he expected that from himself. Great video!

I'm not sure he didn't want be there. Elvis loved performing but you are right he was exhausted. I noticed that the second outburst of laughter he just didn't sound normal, he had a little anxiety going on there .Really can't blame him though.
