@@RBTheMechanic too bad there is no code for the PCV. It started a high pitched whistle last night and power dropped. Have a bad PVC on my Mercedes I recognized the symptoms. Changed out today.
@@RBTheMechanic yeah putting it on not a problem, I do my own maintenance ( what I can do of course, I’m not a mechanic) oil change, flush fluids, etc. I just was wondering if just cleaning it was enough while I get a good one and bit cheaper cause cost $75 at the dealer !!
There is a website and there is a PCV valve and I’m planing on getting a catch can because working at Honda. I see a lot of engines that are oil going to just pretty much looks like your porch chocolate all over it and they’ve kept up with the weather changes.
This is first time I’m hearing about pvc valve replacement every 30k Everytime I go to Honda dealership to do an oil change (cause I have the maintenance package) they never ask me or recommend to change the pvc valve
Well, at O'Reilly's Auto Parts; for my 13 Accord the pcv valve is $36.99, and for my 18 Accord it is $101.99. So I think I'll try this cleaning method on my 18 Accord lol
I have a 08 accord v6. Honda (Canada) wants $91. The local Napa wants $97. I will try cleaning mine. I am around 290, 1000km (180miles). It's never been done. It's never been replaced. In the past 2 oil changes I have started to needed about 1/2 liter (1/2qt) between oil changes. Since last oil change my oil is very dirty in 1500km and it jumped to about 2.5L of oil consumption. (my best guess is this pcv?)
@@RBTheMechanic should be even less for what it is but in Canada, they bend you over a barrel I got from Rockauto for $29+shipping Also not sure if will help my oil burn issue, but I did the cleaning and my car idles so much better. Will keep you posted
Dose a bad pcv valve make hissing noise when you hit gas padel while driving ??? Please let me know. Bcz my crv make small hissing or air leaking noise every time I gas while driving. Thanks
Since it's a valve that means it should allow the air to go one direction only But this valve seems not working while the air go two direction Is that right?
@@RBTheMechanic Yesterday I bought a new pcv valve from honda and when I try to blow air through it, the air goes two-way, is that means it stuck open? Unlike toyota pcv valve the air only goes one way!
Ok the million dollar question is the pcv valve blow's only one way or both ways? Because I bought many cheap versions and everyone blow both ways andd don't want to buy an expensive one if it is normal. So, both ways or only one way? Because I got an oil catcher in it and is blown a lot of oil.
It’s one way but it doesn’t restrict 100% pressure or release 100% pressure u should have ratteling valve if u shake it in hand it most prevents seals from blowing and vents the crank case
Helpful for when you can't get new one right away
Yup
