    I think you made the right decision keeping this and returning the others. Even though this is cheaper, it is a better feature set, and in my opinion it sounds better too.
    Layering sounds with this and the TEO-5 over MIDI is going to be fun. Imagine taking both of those out for a gig. So much you can do! Tom was recently interviewed and said that if he'd released his new board in the 90s, he'd have taken over the market. I think it's true. We long for the vintage now, but back then people longed for the future, and this is it.

    So I got mine last night, thing has had around 20 hrs of use, I started setting up to day and did some noodles.
    I got into some seriously heavy drones and my god this thing is a beast.
    My Pro 3 sits above it and possibly a Teo 5 next to them when released, this things isn't just a poly machine, it's a jack of all trades.
    My issue is though, I have had to sacrifice some gear to get both Pro 3 and Take 5 on my desk, but I can see them working to well together, it's a shame I can't get my Pro 2 onboard, but it's a keeper and going no where.
    So glad I watched your vids, and thanks for that final push to secure one, I really am over the moon with this, it's dirty, it's in your face, then it's polite as a butterfly land on your nose, only to punch you through the wall.
    really impressed. Now to set up the Pro 3 next to it.

    This is a great vid. Love the comments describing what you are trying to do with each change. Strategy for sound design is always welcome. The Take 5 is such a great synth. The natural character is so good, and combined with that mod matrix. Love it. If only if it had one more voice. I would kill for an 8-voice version.

    So I scored a Take 5 for $890 USD and should get it tonight, guy is personally delivering it so I can try it out before he runs off.
    Still has LCD plastic on it so that's a bonus.

    The Take 5 has a way of growing on you doesn’t it?? I’ve loved mine since i got it almost 3 years ago now, about a month after they were released. I’m tempted to get a TEO-5 too, but I don’t really have space for another keyboard. Module versions of these would be great.
    I actually love the Take 5’s reverb, it can really add character to the sound, and since its longest time is really long, it can hide voice stealing on pads. You can also modulate the effects parameters in the matrix, like a little bit of LFO to reverb time or pre-delay to add some motion to the reverb.
    There’s some handy shortcuts in the mod matrix. You probably already know you can hold the source or destination buttons and turn a knob or control to select that source or destination. But if you hold Source and hit a key on the keyboard, it selects Note Num, Velocity or Pressure as the mod source (hit the key repeatedly to toggle between these). It makes selecting these three mod sources a lot quicker.
    Another tip you might not know about: if you select a preset, then enter and exit the global menu, that preset will be the one that is selected when you first turn on the Take 5 from then on.

    I absolutely love this beast of a synth. My only ask for future firmware would be the option to 'load panel' as a complement to the basic program. Having the option to output the current knob positions and begin sculpting from there would be glorious. The Korg 'Logue' Series have this feature and I much prefer it as a starting point for building happy accident patches

    I went to test one onshop and i had to retune it like every 20 mins lol and the temperature didn't changed to be clear ....
    Build quality is indeed solid !!! i didn't liked the nevloppes , i don't know it was less direct than the ob6 witch was near , don't know if it's the settings or the analog versus digital ....

    • @YukiTheSynthDragon
      @YukiTheSynthDragon  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The tuning issue is a thing if you have too many tuning attempts at the same temperature. My trigon had this issue and I had to clear the tuning tables. The envelope curves differ on the ob6 for sure but both instruments have digital envelopes.

    I wonder what the Take 5 strengths are compared to the TEO. Because the TEO is just out people all talk about the opposite comparison, like the TEO can do through zero FM (but the sync button seems to be a pretty good alternative to keep the FM musical). How is it with the filters? Am I correct to assume that the Take5 has a more mellow sounding filter?

    • @Fuzzfooger
      @Fuzzfooger หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Take 5 Filter is definitely a creamy beast, the filter drive knob is subtle but offers another shade. It sits somewhere between traditional Prophet and bass compensated LPF.

    • @evanglicanism
      @evanglicanism หลายเดือนก่อน

      The sound is hard to describe, but the Take 5 is pretty similar to the Rev2 Prophet 5. Whereas the TEO is more like the original SEM. So you get a different slope, and different configurations. TEO can do a lot more than a LPF, and the settings can be modulated. But the Take 5 excels at typical bread and butter sounds, because you can dial the filter in with a bit more precision.

    • @YukiTheSynthDragon
      @YukiTheSynthDragon  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wil agree with @Fuzzfooger and @evanglicanism. I will add that through zero fm is nice since on issue you will run into in using osc sync on the take 5 and the ob6 (I also assume with any synth with osc sync and a square based sub oscillator) is that the sub becomes too erratic to be used along with osc sync being engaged. You will get odd keyboard scaling on the sub when you modulate the frequency of the primary osc via keyboard tracking. I should have demoed this but I will for sure when the teo comes out. I should say even with keyboard tracking to frequency off osc sync can be unpredictable on the sub given vco parameter drift from voice to voice. So with through 0 fm you can still in theory use the sub as you would not have to engage sync.

      I may get a TEO-5 when they become available, I don’t know yet. It looks to be a great option for the Oberheim SEM filter in a flexible poly. I’ve had a Take 5 and an OB-6 module for a couple years, both are great but are quite distinct soundwise from each other.
      While the TEO-5 gives you the multi mode SEM filter and through zero FM, I’d miss the oscillator mixer section on the panel. You can still set osc levels with button-knob combos on the TEO, but having the knobs right there on the Take 5 is nice when sound designing. The TEO also gives you access to all the waveforms via on-off buttons but no blend between them, so if you want, say, 25% square and 75% saw you can get that on the Take 5 but not the TEO.

  • @dankeplace
    @dankeplace หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have an option of getting a Take 5 for $900 USD, then I will pick up the Teo 5 at a later date, I have a Pro 2 and Pro 3, which almost completes the set, just never got a P12 as could never get a module new.
    If I miss out on the T5, I will just get the Teo 5 but the trifecta of Pro 3, T5 and Teo 5 seems like my nice little workhorse.
    I love FATAR keybeds, nothing in the world like them, so all 3 will be a pleasure to use.
    These will play nice with my Rev 2 module too and some AS1s etc etc.
