    I upgraded my tyres in Honda Brio from MRF 175/65 R14 to Continental CC5 185/60 R15 and it was more than 3.2 % increase. It screwed my Suspension like anything, also the steering become harder. After nearly running for 32 k kms. I swittched back to 14" Tyres, Yokohama Earth 1 185/65 R14 and what a difference now. I enjoy the smooth ride everyday. Although will have to tune the suspension now for the damage done.

    Yes its really common that when people get alloys they are usually a bigger size than the normal rim ones even if you buy them from the company like tata gives 195mm on rims and 215 on alloys and many times people don't change the tire and only change the rims and sooner or later it will cause the damage on the tyre's wall and it will break apart.
    The best way to identify it is that it will always break the tyres's wall side

    Yokohama Earth 1 is the best tyre model for an upgrade sir. Even I had the same issue. I own a Tata Tiago XZ+. The day I took the delivery of my Tata Tiago in 2019, while driving from showroom towards my home, my front right stock tyre's sidewall got damaged with a hit of a small stone on the road. When I claimed for it from the company, both tata and goodyear denied for a replacement due to physical damage issue. Then, immediately the next day after a lot of research, I got my remaining 3 tyres exchanged with 4 Yokohama Earth 1 at a very good price. And now I am having an amazing experience with those tyres since 2 years. I have driven my car on worst roads as well as on highways with fully loaded 5 people and full luggage. I have never got any issues with these tyres and covered around 25,000 kms with them. Even the puncture holds for hundreds of kms. These tyres have never gone flat until now by god's grace. I am happy that you chose the best tyre model available in the market. Both dry and wet grip with these tyres is best in class, they provide very good high speed stability as well. Best of luck sir, and go places with it. I am sure these tyres will never let you down. :-)

    After watching your entire video, can safely say that there are just 2 possible scenarios why your tyre went bust
    1. You drove through that pit pretty hard that resulted in sidewall crack. This is the 99 percent probable reason
    2. Tyre specs not suiting the alloy wheel specs. Can happen but will not happen under changes that are so slight like 195 causing problem and 205 width solving it. Please go back to your alloys and check its specs. They should read something like for example 6.5J x 16 etc. Then you can easily cross verify on the internet the tyre range that will easily fit on this alloy spec. In all probabilities 195 sections would turn out to be the ideal size.
    So, the real reason is not bad tyre or bad alloy or misfit but the major impact.

    • @shankar4005
      @shankar4005 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Given the driving experience shared, I highly think option 1 to be the most probable reason. This is because even if the profile of tyre is only 195 even after fitting alloys, it should have been okay for driving on normal roads. But extreme off-roading will put additional stress on such relatively low profile tyre. The profile is company recommended even on alloys but off-roading seems to be extreme.

    No doubt Yokos r great tyres with respect to Ride comfort, silent ride, but d drawback is the tyre life will be hardly 35K Kms. On my Hyundai Sonata Gold, we had upgraded with 215/55/R16 91V, made in Japan Yokos costing 12.5k for each tyre, i could achieve 215 KMPH speed with those tyres but unfortunately the tyres got bald after around 30k kms itself & started to get punctured frequently. Further i replaced the tyres with Pirelli tyres of 205/60/R16 & the tyres r unbelievably tough, yet d trade of tyres is as good as brand new tyres even after 20k kms done. But the other hand, the problem is now car can't be driven above 180( doesn't feel confident), also d noise is very very high.

    in my alto 2012 model, the first tyre replacement was in 1,27,000 km (Bridgestone - company fitted) though it was used well over its needed replacement(it had cracks along its surface when we took it out for the replacement). now the new tyres are Michelin ones and the odometer reading is around 1,96,000 and the tyres are still in pretty good condition.

  • @sahilbhatt6553
    @sahilbhatt6553 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason for tyre failure is high speed impact and nothing else. It may be possible that there was some damage to the tyre which got aggravated and later failed due to high speed contact with the pothole. As long as the rim diameter and sidewall height is as per company specs, the reduction in width will not make significant difference, that is untill you run a space saving trye. Infact it's the very opposite of your theory. If you have wider tyres than prescribed specs, there is high possibility of sidewall damage if you hit a pothole.

  • @swapnil2532
    @swapnil2532 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    As I know mostly perfect alloy support size tyre hi lagani chahia but Agar alloy wheels ke lia 215 tyre size hogi to max 10 plus-minus rahega to chalega not perfectly but chalega. Matlab 205-215-225 tak max support ho sakte hai.
    Alloy wheels ke benefits hai but ye drawback hai ki high strength honeke wajah se wo tyre hi damage kr deta hai, jo ke rim rahegi to rim bend hojati hai.

  • @akhileshrathore9044

  • @shivamsinghania5449
    @shivamsinghania5449 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is a very common issue..there r many youtube vedios relating to this..main reason is width is alloys is slightly more thanyhe rim..so even though the tyre fits the side walks of the tyre doesnt comes out which is requ..so any strong impact n ur side walls tear all the time..if u shift to alloys chnge yhe tyre immediately

    Goodyears are infact superior to Yokohoma, in similar range models.
    The Earth 1 from Yokohoma is good one though.
    Michelin & Bridgestone wear out too fast as they're solely for performance.
    Apollo & Goodyears are the all rounders.

    This is actually my question .. I asked in showroom and they said in both the tyre sizes 195 and 215 alloy is the same and I was like how is that possible when there should be a difference in the width ideally but they did not agree to that and I was confused as well and I guess now this issue has proven that 195 would be smaller for these alloys and hence the cut .. is it ??

    • @shankar4005
      @shankar4005 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      195 or 215 is profile (outer radius - inner radius). But inner circumference is R16 only just like alloy. Hence it will be same.

    Hello bro, Any issues you are facing after tyre upsizing? Did steering and MID calibration required? My tata dealer is saying there is no need of steering and MID calibration. Even I don't need to upgrade tyres, OEM alloys can fit into 195 section tyres. I think they don't have proper knowledge. Please share your experience.

    • @RidiculouslyAmazing
      @RidiculouslyAmazing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was told the same thing that calibration is not required but you know it they are not much experienced so I will get the calibration done as soon as situation goes normal.
      195 will fit in alloys but it may get damaged soon on path holes.

  • @manish79verma

    Thanks for sharing your experience. I too had same experience. I had purchased my Nexon in Jun 18 and was happy with steel rims, but as u know "logo ki baato mai aake" I had changed with alloy which cost me 33k with exchange of steel rim.
    My experience
    Earlier with steel rim not had any puncture issues but after alloy have many puncture issues.
    Side wall cut. Same happened with me, but presently repaired it and using as spare wheel.
    As u mentioned old tyre kaa price nahi milta that's y trying to use it as long as possible before changing to 215.
    Issues arise with alloys
    1) steering little hard...which was fixed by steering calibration.
    2) speedo meter have little speed difference then actual...but running with that only till date.
    3) mileage drop by 2 kmpl on Highway but 4 to 5 kmpl in traffic.
