I painted my wheel covers in Dehradun. It took 3 hours but work done and output was satisfactory.

Update 20 Nov20 - Paint is in good condition
Update 17 Jan 21 - Paint is coming off where stone was hit on my last trip to Adi Kailash
Update 01 March - Paint is coming off, chipping the paint off from some places, use good paint guys
update 15 June - It will last if you only drive this on city, off road will chip the paint

I also have done a similar thing on my wheel covers. After seeing ur work, i feel to redo my wheel cover to give alloy look.
This masking method is used by all major car manufacturers at their factories, seen it myself.

Great look and remarkable creativity. As an alternative, one can also use radium tape on properly sanded surface with heat treatment to spread it in shape. I fear that this will wash off during regular spray wash as the paints available in spray bottles are of very inferior quality and are thin.
