Appreciate it my friend! I did try it out like this last weekend and I wished I had some with a little bit of weight for deeper water. As is, it works well in shallower water but needs a bit of weight to get deeper.
Thanks for the advice with the variety pack . I like to walk around the park where i live and find different feathers the geese and ducks shead to tie spider patterns. Nice looking simple streamer . Have a blessed day Matt .
Great tip David! I've been known to pick up stray feathers from wherever I find them too. In fact, I've got a Ziploc bag of tiny feathers from a dead finch I found last week. :-)
Hey Matt. Yup, I’m up early everyday too enjoying some of the morning ritual. Your videos bring a simplicity and do-ability to fly tying that anyone can enjoy. And in a quick entertaining clip. Always a fun watch.
It's like a modern version of the first simple Rooster's Regret-type streamers originating in the Grand Lake Stream area 120 years ago! Updated with some of our modern flash materials. A simple white streamer will always catch more than its share of fish. Good lesson in these days of complicated flies! Thanks Matt
Appreciate it Pete! And FYI, Scott just asked me to give the October presentation on fishing the Savage to the chapter. It's going to be fun! I'm heading up this weekend to get some pictures for it. :-)
Awesome little fly Matt. I appreciate the desire to have little waste bc I prefer it that way. And lastly that variety pack is great especially for beginners wanting a variety of materials. It’s definitely worked well for me.
Good morning Matt☕️☕️ You know, I didn’t know about that whiting variety pack. One cannot have too many feathers. And I never imagined that, I would be buying feathers and fur. Nice micro streamer.😉 Have a safe week👍
Thanks for the tip, Matt I didn't know about the variety pack and bag of mixed fur. I would love to see some video on this fly dragging some fish in Thanks for the video, Matt
Good morning Matt. ☕️. Nice streamer. I’ve never seen those feather packs up here but I’m going to look around. They may not be available outside of the USA. Hope your weekend went well and have a great week.
Appreciate it John! I would imagine anywhere you could get Whiting hackle might also sell them. But if not, they probably could. I'm heading back to the farm and the Savage this weekend. We've got a big storm heading this way so I'm hoping for the best. :-)
Haha! I think you'd pay more for shipping than it's worth. :-) Now a fish mask.... hmmmm. That's a great call! As tied here, it doesn't get too deep but with a little weight it'll be much more versatile!
Another good one Matt. I'm a little late on this one my wife fell and broke her arm so I've been busy playing nurse. Keep the good stuff coming.
I feel that the streamer would help indecisive fish commit to the fly. Thank you for sharing, tight lines! 😎🎣

Yes indeed Bob! It would be a treasure for saltwater tiers. :-)
Thanks Matt, love the idea of using all of the feather.
Appreciate it Ralph! I wasn't kidding when I said I've had this pack for about two years and have barely made a dent in it. So many useful feathers!

Nice! I've been tying something similar for years. Very handy fly.
Cool to hear! I haven't tried this too much for trout but I've had some good days smallmouth fishing with it. :-)
I like the minimalist take on this pattern! Well done!

Cool idea, conservation of materials. I think Al Beatty did something like that in Fly Tyer mag. Your demo was much clearer. Thanks Matt!
Well thank you Joe! That's high praise as Al and Gretchen are royalty in the fly tying world. :-)
