We moved to San Marino in 1974 and raised our children there. We got priced out back then while looking in Arcadia and found a super San Marino home with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths home for $55,000.00. That same home is now about 2 million..... You probably won't move there and have children unless you have several millions in your water cooled check book. Good luck finding 20 something couples with little kids moving here. It is still a lovely quiet city with easy access as Mr. Kuo describes. Traffic can be daunting especially in the morning rides to work. The wide divide down Huntington Drive is what's left of the old Pacific Electric right of way. They were a type of trolley system called the "Red Cars." San Marino does have interesting history, General Patton had a home about 4 blocks north of this one. San Marino has a mystique that neighboring cities love to hate. If you can afford it, it's a great place we once called home...

I used to live in San Mario as kid, when my dad was posted there for 3 years with the bank. I attended Valentines school and I remember it having an amazing community vide. Amazing place to live and I have so many fond memories. Shame I had to move back to the U.K! Would love to move back there one day if I can ever afford to do so!

I used to nanny a child who lived in San Marino. I loved going to her house. The area is so lovely. It's like a dream. Those kids have it good!

Great input! I agree, San Marino is like the Beverly Hills of the San Gabriel Valley region!

I had a client in San Marion for 10 years! I was not familiar, with it before that! I love it! If I could it would be one of my first choices to live!

Is it true that the north side of Huntington Drive is better than the south side? In the sense that, lots are larger, Lucy Park, Cal tech, and the Huntington Library are all on the north side?

The north side has larger lots sizes and tend to be more expensive.

The crime rate in San Marino will not remain low for too much longer. The same thing will happen like what has happened in Arcadia, and elsewhere.😮😢.

look I don't wanna sound like that type of person but some of the homes shown throughout the video aren't even in San Marino. They are in Pasadena and I can tell because the street signs are green not blue.

Oh great catch! Sorry Sometimes I forget where the clip was shot…There are so many nice streets in both San Marino and south part of Pasadena.

No bears like Sierra madre. I thought the Newsom law would require cities to have multifamily housing and San Marino was in the process of becoming compliant with that law.

Maybe you’ll see big multifamily in the future. I don’t think so though.

yeah there will be. I follow a lot of the politics in San Marino and what the city council passes and they have had to allow these type of homes in san Marino its just expensive for some people when they are already trying to maintain million dollar homes. But it will eventually happen, there are already some homes owned by the city that offer shelter or multi units within the home. And I have been seeing a lot more ADUS within the past 2 years in the area. I know last year I saw over 60+ permits go to city hall so its definitely changing just slowly.@@livinginpasadena

I also know that there was a home by the mission district that they were gonna allow commercial and housing in the same redeveloped property. Recently the property sold to someone else and who knows what they Will do with it now but the city fought for 7 years to not allow that type of building in the city and they lost in court. Also in ordinance of the new laws and housing bills the city has planned their zoning for affordable income housing. And the stoneman preschool site may be turned into senior living housing with a mix of other types of affordable housing. Its all in the works. @@livinginpasadena
