Respect your Elder So is eating pork or shellfish. So is mixing fabrics. So is violating your 11th, 12th and 13th Articles of Faith, which would then violate one of the Ten Commandments.

G-d hates liars as well, and you are a liar. Something about "bearing false witness against thy neighbor."

I resigned from the church in 1997. I come from a family of 8 siblings, 7 sons one daughter. My sister is the only one still practicing Mormonism. What you said about the people making the church good struck home with me. I would love to have my sister view reality but I have never seen her or her family as not being genuine. I have to commend you on your honesty and loving outlook on life and those in your life. Cheers!

I applaud your bravery. Having broken away from a radical church, I know how hard that can be. I'm not homosexual, but I can only imagine the difficulty you had leaving had to be twice what it was for me.

I would argue that the Mormon Church changed over the years had more to do with money and cultural pressures rather than good people. White and delightsome all that swill.

I hope that over time homosexuality is not that stigmatized anymore. I think it is horrible that (often men) people are pressured into marrying a member of the opposite sex, so they do and when they discover their homosexuality, often whole families tear apart. It's a sad thing. I hope people get taught from early age that it doesn't matter whether you are gay, straight or bi.

      Respect your Elder
Please tell me what exactly about it is wrong? If you tell me that Gawd thinks it's wrong, well, how can you know what this god thinks or wants, if he even exists.
Btw, you don't need to be homosexual to support gay people, it's not sinful or anything close to it. The only "sin" here is that you stupid, idiotic, homophobic people hate and condemn people, whom you absolutely do not know and who can be incredibly warmhearted, nice people.
      Shame on you.

Rahel Erki "If you tell me that Gawd thinks it's wrong, well, how can you know what this god thinks or wants, if he even exists."
      Because Gawd tells us.
“If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. *They* *are* *to* *be* *put* *to* *death*; their blood will be on their own heads. (Leviticus‬ ‭20‬:‭13‬ NIV)“
All I can say is that this man is lucky we don't live in biblical times. I know I wouldn't hesitate to do the Lords work if he told me to. The Bible says "you must purge the evil from among you". I don't necessarily hate all gay people per se, but I see and hate the evil in them.

      Respect your Elder
So, you also don't wear mixed garments or eat shellfish? And do you eat pork?
The way you cherry pick your favourite lines is ridiculous.
No sane person still obeys those rules, because we know that they are immoral.
In biblical times people were killed because they didn't obey the Sabbath, why? Because people weren't obligated to follow the rules of the state and simply followed ridiculous religious dogmas.

I like what he said about an ever changing and improving church
    I agree with him
I like how much respect he has for himself and the respect he still holds for the church
I am proud to be Mormon and he's proud to be gay and I believe everyone should be proud of themselves and not condemn each other for what they believe in.

Cherie Gallegos We're all in mortal life together, Cherie, and I can tell you that there are both Mormons and "traditional" Christians who have the same judgmmental views of homosexuals. As for Mormonism, perhaps you should investigate it a little before urging people to avoid it. I've been LDS since 1972 and have no cause to regret my actions. In fact, many people rejected first century Christianity for the same reasons they reject Mormonism today.

You are a child of the same Heavenly Father. But you are going to have to answer to Heavenly Father for your choices one day. I hope you come back one day to your church family it won't be easy but it will be worth it.

Better to live an authentic life than one where you have to hide who you are. Proud to know he left the church.
