    I'd say you damaged a wire near that clutch lever when you dropped it. So when wet it's shorting. Testing the voltage at the lever and working away from it more than likely would have shown a drop in voltage.

    • @tonebonetones
      @tonebonetones 2 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Exactly. The lack of electrical know how at Manchester Harely was frightening. Replacing relays willy nilly is not tracing a fault.

    • @franklaskus2395
      @franklaskus2395 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      That left hand control would have been the first place I looked. Seeing the bike fell over and the problem started afterwards. Unless they did they were messing with the right side in the video. What do I know only worked at a dealership for 30 years

    • @tonebonetones
      @tonebonetones 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@franklaskus2395 ........possibly, but I suspect the fault is elsewhere...he's getting the full ampage from the coil - usually only sent to the starter till the engine starts, under normal conditions - being shorted to the frame/engine block, and the clutch wire is taking that nicely straight to his hand. Ouch lol!
      However, as you say, they should indeed have checked the clutch carefully for damage as a matter of course. Just replacing relays is like replacing fuses without knowing what is causing the fuses to blow. Truly frightening. I suspect it's all down to dealer service bay mechanics being taught basic servicing steps for fairly new machines, any problems outside this safe area of knowledge and they are all at sea.

    Loving the uk series but pinching myself each time you have to bump start when you could simply bypass the starter relay circuitry by bridging the solenoid terminals with a screwdriver or similar and be on your way. Your electric shocks must have come from the high tension side of the coil earthing out due to the wet weather.

    Beautifully shot Danny, you certainly have some balls riding those roads one handed on a hard tail
    I'm guessing some of you watching this also follows Itchy Boots on her travels??

    Phhfft. I did this a little Suzuki GS 400 2 up fully loaded with camping gear on back in 1981. The front wheel was lifting so I had to stand up and lean over the bars while reving the nuts off the 35 hp motor to get it to go.

    35 minutes of blather, just to watch him ride the incredible Hardknot pass one handed...... just shows how hard it must be. 35 minutes of my life I wont get back.

    The Rock Walls along the roads are so cool. Scenery is pretty.
    Actually, don’t know if you thought about it or if Bobhead referenced you into touring on a chopper type motorcycle, but actually I think you made a Awesome choice on how to tour England.
    Waiting on ur next video✌️❤️

    BAD IDEA CONNECTING THE STARTER SOLENOID DIRECT FROM THE STARTER SWITCH. THE SWITCH IS NOT POWER RATED TO DO THAT AND IT WILL BURN OUT, THAT IS WHY YOU HAVE RELAY TO TAKE THE HIGH POWER LOAD. THE WHOLE BIKE IS A DISASTER AND YOU SHOULD CHANGE IT AS IT IS SPOILING YOUR UK TOUR AND WASTING A LOT OF TIME. KEEPS THE VIDEOS COMING AND STAY SAFE...
