Jack Black is like Robin Williams to me. The guy embodied every role he was ever in, made it his own, had so much fun with it, and was himself. I feel like Jack Black is always humble and always striving to pull the best out of his characters.
Nacho Libre is really underrated. It's amazing, funny, and well made. Also when you know it's loosely based on the story of Fray Tormenta ("Friar Storm", a.k.a. Rev. Sergio Gutiérrez Benítez), a real-life Mexican Catholic priest who had a 23-year career as a masked luchador and competed in order to support the orphanage he directed, you will definitely appreciate it.
Hearing him talk about School of Rock is absolutely magical. Such a perfect, wonderful movie and all the love that was poured into it is amazing to see
Jack Black inspired a generation of kids to pick up an instrument with school of rock. My childhood friend and I wanted to start a band because of it, and I've been playing bass ever since.
When I was younger, I found Jack Black a little over the top. But now I've grown older myself I think I get him on a much closer level now. He's just a great man living his life the way he wants and it's fantastic to see. He's almost a role model to me nowadays.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jack Black once, and he is such a treasure. At a screening of Bernie at Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Jack gave an interview with Variety magazine. He hung around after the interview and graciously spoke with some fans. I told him School of Rock was one of my favorite movies of all time, and with such genuine emotion, he said "Aw, thanks, man!" It clear that the role meant a lot to him, which was so gratifying to see. 🤘

Jack Black is an American original. There is no way to explain his awesomeness. It has to be experienced. I have legitimately never heard this man speak and not be some combination of fascinated and ROFL'ing. No hyperbole, I think he's one of the most charismatic people of all-time, at least in Hollywood. Maybe ever. In history.

The surgeon in a ballgown story is amazing on its own, I can't imagine what other things he's lived through!
His role in King Kong is so underrated. I remember being glued to the movie when I finally had it on DVD and would have it on repeat in my mom’s van. Carl had a gravity to him that without a doubt was the film’s best performance.
Here's the thong about him in King Kong. He was following in the footsteps of Robert Armstrong, so he had giant boots to fill. Also, while he did a fantastic job, some feel he may have been miscast for that type of role. Since Carl Denham was based off of the film director, Merian C. Cooper

@@janemba42 I always do and it gets me in trouble all the time. Also on the occasion when you know you can't tell someone the truth and they keep pressing for it, knowing deep down you couldn't be telling the truth, really gets annoying.
It's really moving to me that Jack uses the present tense when he speaks about Robin Williams and Jumanji. It's a small thing but it feels large in the sense that it's like he's keeping Robin at the table with us, right now, and always. Classy and heart felt.
I would really like to thank Jack Black for accepting his role in The Holiday. That is one of the most perfect movies and it would be totally incomplete without his charming charisma and sweetness!!
His Tropic Thunder Water Buffalo story had me in stitches! He's got an effortlessly funny charm to him. It's not overbearing, it's natural and so endearing.
He is. I got to meet him at my job (I'm a musician at a restaurant in Key Largo). I got a 5 minute conversation with him. It's bizarre how down to earth he is. I felt like I was talking to my neighbor. Unbelievably cool dude.
It is SO wholesome that his favorite is School of Rock, that movie has such a special place in my heart! It truly felt like Jack's heart and soul was in that movie, love that it's true!
I agree that he IS that character, but I’m not super surprised that it’s not included. Since it’s an animated movie I wouldn’t be surprised if doesn’t connect with them as much as his other roles. If that makes any sense
School of Rock was so defining for me as a kid. I definitely had Rock in my heart but nothing really embraced it. Then I saw this movie... I totally connected to how those kids felt. Jack Black was totally the "magic man" that spun my head around, and helped me embrace the Rock n Roll in my heart that I passionately express today. Thanks Jack!
Jack is so unbelievably good in King Kong and school of rock. My friend and I would watch king Kong and school of rock at least twice a week we were obsessed with both movies
He's reached a state where he's making his own character like a persona in a movie or video game, that's my theory. It explains why he is almost like a living meme, like his own personality is just another role.
@@JoyfulUniter Totally. Even if you look back to his earlier years of being famous, he had a tendency to break into voices but it was usually always the same one, like the "shedding some tasty riffs" excited 80s metal fan parody. But yeah now its totally taken over.

Jack Black is such a cinematic gem and I’m glad he cherishes that movie so much I’m honored to have had it growing up
It’s sad The Pick of Destiny didn’t get the recognition it deserves when it first came out. But it is honestly one of my favorite movies! You can tell it’s just jack black being jack black and I love it
The director yelling to hurrah the crew instead of directly chastising jack was actually an incredibly good director tool. You don't necessarily want to harm the performance of your actor, so implying to them "Come on we can do this!" without directly chastising them is a great way to say "we need to go harder" without harming morale
As a MASSIVE Jack Black fan, I can truly say that The Holiday is my favorite role he’s ever played. He does serious just as well as he does comedic, and I loved being able to see that side of him.
I still remember when he was cast for King Kong how much everyone complained that he couldn't do a serious role. I wouldn't say it was his greatest performance, but he did it just fine. He pulled off that semi-psychotic, vain director attitude, almost a bit of Peter Jackson himself.
@@Kai0nTheMoon I liked it. I think it had a lot of heart and sometimes that’s more important than being some big budget production. Jack Black was pretty funny in that movie especially when he dressed up as Fats.
School of Rock is the most inclusive movie. It perfectly shows how it's ok to be different, no matter how old you are, and how important this is to make the world a better place. This is a untemporal masterpiece.
I loved the part of School of Rock where he figured out the Drums were what the angry, ADHD kid needed. Finding where each kid fit gave them a cathartic experience for their self being. I wonder if he has stayed in touch with any of those kids. They are all adults now!😊

@@daggersquadops1148 I only worry that, because many of his iconic characters have a similar energy, people will see...for instance...High Fidelity, Orange County, and School of Rock, and incorrectly conclude that he's a bit of a one-trick pony (even as impressive as he is in those roles). Of course, if they're fortunate enough to see him in Bernie or even that _single_ episode of X-Files he did (with Giovanni Ribisi), it begins to become clear that...much like Robin Williams..there's much more to him than just varying degrees of spasmodic intensity. I mean, one doesn't rack up 154 acting credits by simply playing oneself...unless one is Tommy Lee Jones, Sam Elliott, or one of _those_ iconic personalities.

Jack Black inspired a generation of kids to pick up an instrument with school of rock. My childhood friend and I wanted to start a band because of it, and I've been playing bass ever since.
He seems genuinely appreciative of every roll he's earned. Even if it wasn't a blockbuster success. He loves to act and make people laugh.
He should be. Never been in a bad movie
The Never Ending Story 3 is terrible. Only worth watching for Jack Black.
