@@SuperCyberMaster Tyres were dead. In the race the day before, he lost P1 because of bad tyres, his team didn't want to risk the same thing happening.

correct me if i’m wrong, don’t have much experience, but it seems like it’s kinda only possible because it’s leclerc? he drives rly hard and builds up wear on the tyres, gets a pit, and catches up because he’s on the softs and driving as hard as he wants, but perfectly. Charles was a league ahead in f2 from the races i’ve watched (they’re kinda hard to find) and i don’t think many of the other drivers could’ve come back to take the lead and win… but again i’m relatively new to motorsport. the strat also hinges on him being able to make clean overtakes without losing time… so it was hella risky but definitely paid off.
again, these are all observations from a newbie and a heavily biased one at that. lmk if im 1000% off the mark
