- On today’s Episode of DIY Willy’s BAJA RZR project. We test fit the 2.2 Chevy Ecotec engine in the BAJA RZR Project. The frame was built before I had the engine and the engine doesn’t fit perfectly.
Some modifications need to be done to position the engine where it will fit and align the clutch.
So follow along as we build a crazy BAJA RZR monster machine..

Oh man as you know that when you modify something there is a domino effect on other parts. So made room for the engine and now I have to relocate the rear shocks. I’ll have to make all new shock mounts for the factory trailing arms.I don’t want to modify the trailing arms. Never know when they’ll need replaced. Definitely a work in progress.
Big work ahead! If you can get that Ecotec shoehorned into the chassis, that thing is gonna be a rocket!
I ordered several different size shoe horns from Amazon. Should be able to get the Ecotec in there with some sawzall action! Just need to align the clutch and I’m golden. Thanks for checking it out!!
Now the technical geometry design fun begins, its an adventure Willy i know you enjoy👍. Im thinking(my 2cents) when you move that engine back closer to the Differential you might want to put a heatshield between there to keep some eng. heat off the diff.🤔. 👌
I kinda feels like a square peg in a round hole. It will fit but not till after some more fun with the sawzall.

Dude it’s going to be crazy. Others have used the Ecotec in buggies and it’s pretty a good engine choice. Just need to make it all work in the stretched RZR 900 chassis.

Cool project how do you plan on mounting the clutch? Stock rzr clutch?
Hello Mitchell, I have a clutch adapter that bolts to the crank shaft and mounts a RZR turbo clutch. I have all of the clutch set up now and that video will come out on Sunday. I know there will be some clutch tuning needed and probably gear reduction for the transmission. I will do that once I get it running and driving. Do you have any experience with these clutches? @@DIYWilly definitely got a sub. Don't have any experience tuning cvt clutches. Trying to find a way to rear mount auto engine in a S10 with sxs type suspension. Transmission with 4x4 short enough is my challenge
