I met Joey a few years back on the streets of Savannah during the time she was filming the Act and she is genuinely one of the most authentic and kindest souls I’ve ever met. I was a film student at the time and she took the time out of her day to talk to me not only as a fan, but as a human being, and probably engaged in conversation with me for at least 5 minutes and even introduced me to her friend that she was with, who she just finished shopping on Broughton Street with. I told her about how much I enjoyed her work and how much my younger sister adored her as well and she even made a video for my little sister that I sent to her (which she cried over). She didn’t have to do any of that, but she did, and to this day I still think back to that moment with such fondness. It didn’t even feel like a celebrity interaction because of how genuine and engaging she was. Despite already being a fan of her work, this interaction made my love and support for everything she does skyrocket. Not many celebrities who have been in the game as long as she has still possess such kindness and humbleness, and she deserves to be protected at all costs 🥺❤️
