Marty Schettenheimer is the BEST man, teacher and coach to never win a postseason game. But was totally dominant during the regular, 16 week long (at the time) NFL season. So yeah, "best" and "most successful" are definitely different qualifiers. What's his name (SF's coach) coached in TWO SBs with a big 2nd half lead (good- many great coaches never get there, see above) but fizzled and lost both (not successful).

IDK about you, but I'm taking Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick, and Alex Smith over the revolving door of mediocrity Belichick had to work with in Cleveland (Bernie Kosar Vinny Testaverde, Todd Philcox, Mark Rypien, and Eric Zeier) and Drew Bledsoe, Matt Cassel, a washed-up Cam Newton, and Mac Jones in New England any day of the week.

I can't wait for the Cowboys to get rid of McCarthy. I hate how the team is skilled enough for greatness, but we've always fallen short due to stupid calls rather than lack of talent. McCarthy has bad clock management and he's pretty mediocre when it comes to calling plays.
It worked for the Packers in 2011, but that won't work in the modern game, and I'm sure he's gotten worse. In my mind it's either McCarthy goes or he sticks around until Jerry Jones kicks the bucket and his son makes some changes.
