I don't hate it. I played through it once. I still love the classics much better. Again the 2.5D looks cheap.. I appreciate more platforming but there's just something off with the game level design. There doesn't really seem to be a whole lot of loops either or areas to build momentum
The 3D graphics were good the character gameplay physics such as gliding flying ect are mostly faithful Trip is a great character I hope to see return someday even having Amy playable for once in a new classic sonic game was a highlight for me but sadily the game is bad and the pros don't out way its cons and flaws. Yes unfortunately everything else sucked I started having a boring miserable time during the dark jungle level the new power up and level gimmicks made the game not fun frustrating and boring from the start in all honesty the level layouts are confusing and lead to super cheap deaths press factory act 2 is one of the most infuriating and confusing level layouts in the entire game which is a real shame because I enjoyed its first act I should have quit after that But I pressed on. As I continued playing I realised very quickly that all the bosses suck and don't feel like the usual Classic Sonic bosses due to being just as gimmicky as the level design really the only stage I had actual fun with and really enjoyed was pinball carnival including it's carnival music but after that I got to the Fang lava boss and I completely abandoned and said F this game after dying a absolute stupid amount of times for hours due to Fangs crap hit boxes that honestly feels luck based Apparently you are supposed to use Amy to get past the Fang Lava boss but that's not good game design and the game doesn't hint at using Amy and her double hammer jump to beat Fang at all Sonic Tails and Knuckles are completely useless in Superstars compared to Trip and Amy. Anyway Long story short I went back to Mania and had a blast same with Sonic Mega Collection Plus those two games are the real Classic Sonic Experience not the crap Sega gave us with Origins and Superstars and especially Sonic 4.
Dammit.. when this trailer dropped.. my hype levels were non existent. Mania... Completely the opposite. Superstars was a shameless cash grab compared to the love letter that was Sonic Mania.. and that's why I never played this game. Maybe my opinion is invalid because of that.. but I know a stinker when it comes to Sonic games 😅
Ok calling it a cash grab is a bit far, I enjoy the game, at the very least it doesn’t copy zones, has some great new ideas and brings in a new playable character and that’s just a few things, I’m cool if you don’t like this game but calling it a cash grab is pretty ridiculous.

I'm an old, burnt out Sonic fan who's been around for a while.. maybe the development team tried really hard to make a good Sonic game.. but corporate Sega cares more about lining their pockets. They don't care about about creating a good Sonic game and Sonic Team just seems lost with what they're doing anymore. I'm glad Sonic Frontiers turned out getting good reception. It's just.. it looks like a game with a nothing story with a big open world for the sake of having a Sonic game with an open world.. it's like Sonic Team is running low on ideas and everything is an afterthought.. everything after Sonic Colors just became more Sonic Colors Wisps and similar powers thrown in with no rhyme or reason.. same with these.. Chaos Powers 😬 I dunno.. I'll just say it doesn't look like my type of game.
im split in the middle, i dont think calling it a cash grab is ENTIRELY fair but j bc it has new zones and ideas doesn’t necessarily mean they’re GOOD zones and ideas but also im a very critical person who probably had inflated expectations so 🤷♂️
Fair enough, I’m a huge fan of frontiers, I enjoyed superstars quite a bit, again there’s more to those two games in my opinion, and I’m glad sega has been trying new things, and on top of that bringing back their old franchises, of course as well as shows and movies, to me it just seems like thanks to some of these releases that interest and enjoyment has been mostly rejuvenated within sonic.
Felt like Sonic 4 to me. Uninspired, dispassionate, sanitized corporate product. Bland, gray, tasteless slop churned out because that's what the disconnected shareholders think customers want. I LOVE sonic, all my life I have. Superstars? I played the first zone and then I put it down for the first and last time. Superstars was a complete and total nothing burger
Game was garbage. From the literal reveal trailer at summer game fest i literally knew it would be garbage. Didn't buy it. Won it in a giveaway, played it, My Most disliked game of this generation so far.
I hate this game so much I hate how they pushed aside Fang after advertising his comeback but just made him a one dimensional villain with no redeeming qualities. Also everything else with it's level design, terrible four player mode, music and art style. Such an awful game
@@Zaftheguy they could do a great troll takeout where the number 3 appears on screen making people think it’s adventure 3. Then the horrible sonic 4 music starts playing and we see sonic, tails and knuckles run across the screen in the sonic 4 art style
