    I think she felt the pain and trauma that buffalo went through ,even though it was not an elephant.Elephants have high levels of empathy.

      Wrong, Lions are the top predators in the world after humans, remember we don't wanna debate about one on one strength, what we should consider is who is the prey and who is the predator.
      Lions often hunt elephants, not necessarily full sized ones but there have been instances.
      No animal hunts lions except for humans.

    Elephants do have empathy for other animals but I think the reason why she did that to the buffalo is to make the lions be aware that they shouldn't mess with her and their herd. She's too brave to make a warning, truely a queen💚

    Traditionally the lion has been crowned king of the jungle, but when one observes a lion and elephant encounter in the African wild it is clear to see that king lion has a healthy respect for elephant.

      Yeah, that's the explanation I'm leaning towards too. If any lions come after any of her babies, she's going to make it impossible for the lions to live there. She's showing the lions that she has the power to do that.

    Did anyone notice that the elephant was Tuskless? I think her behavior was showing the lions that if they got too near to her babies that she would squish them with her head also just like she did with the buffalo! It was a warning.

      I said the same thing. It was clearly warning the lions that she would crushed them if they came close. I saw one video where the narrator said if elephants feels threatened they show off there powers and strength as a warning sign to back up.

    Elephants are know to hunt down lions. They are the only predators that have killed their calves. If it’s a mother with cubs alone, the risk is even bigger as the cubs are easy targets and the no they can not stop 6-8 tons of an angry beast.

    The baby elephant is in mortal danger that's why they are so nervous. Although there is a pride of lions that specialize in hunting elephants even grown elephants the grown ones really have nothing to fear.
