While this has long been one of my favorite arias (and, in fact, will be featured on my upcoming new album), the heartbreak of these last days coming from the brutal killings in Orlando make it even more poignant for me to share here, today. I hope it will bring some comfort, some understanding.

I've emailed her in the past and she actually answered back! She is the best looking opera singer ever!!!
Never having heard of either singer, I listened to this and then to Lezhneva in the same song, as recommended by Soyil Zaergar (below) ... and I disagree! Somehow, despite the chunky piano (you're right, cliffjames) and her slight vibrato (John Cruickshank; and Lezhneva is even slower), DiDonato gets to the aching heart of this piece in a way that somehow eludes Lezhneva. And as an Italian speaker, I can't find fault with her pronunciation (pace Jasmina Capitanio and hrhth etheteh). She certainly had me by the guts by the end - and not just through "beautiful singing". Thanks for posting.

I don't think i like this one. Julia Lezhneva's rendition almost made me cry. But this is not even close.
ALSO I THOUGHT IT WAS WAY TOO SLOW!!! BROKEN UP! SHE HAS A PRETTY VOICE BUT NOT GOOD INTERPRETATION. I FELT THAT SHE WAS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT MAKING HER VOICE SOUND BEAUTIFUL THAN WHAT THE ARIA IS PORTRAYING. HENCE IT MAKES IT VERY COLD.
And I think Lezhneva isn't even close to DiDonato, so it's just the matter of taste.
