    The capabilities of 3d printing is endless as this video demonstrates. the ease of using any material to produce any item is just around the corner. With the aid of 3d scanners, any object can be reproduced and modified. This technology is outstanding and limited only by one's imagination and creativity.

    • @erikschaepers
      @erikschaepers 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably in the future we will see an objet - any object - snap a photo of it with our phone, go to the coffee & print shop and have it replicated.

    • @dsjc666
      @dsjc666 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well use a 3d scanner app or something yeah but that's possible if we all bought these big industrial size printers and instead of buying items jut print everything for the house and a car

    Reminds me of my senior year in highschool, this was 10 years ago mind you. A company came with a 3d chalk printer for us to use as kind of a showoff/testing type of deal...not too sure on how it all worked out. Straight away I sat down and modeled up some ball bearings and that was it's first print job. It worked fairly well considering it was just chalk-based...I had fully expected it to not be capable of actually moving.

    I heard about that! It's pretty amazing someone had the sense to install programs on the software that allows the printer to literally, repair itself. :D

    one day 3d printing will be that good that there will be no need to do anything other then take the item of the work table.

    • @nsdfnsdf
      @nsdfnsdf 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ryan Bellaver at the moment it is crappy, just as normal printing used to be crappy, but one day it will be as simple as grabbing a cartage and just selecting print .

    RepRap is the first general-purpose self-replicating manufacturing machine.
    It's a free desktop 3D printer capable of printing plastic objects. Since many parts of RepRap are made from plastic and RepRap prints those parts, RepRap self-replicates by making a kit of itself - a kit that anyone can assemble given time and materials. If you've got a RepRap - you can print lots of useful stuff, and you can print another RepRap for a friend... This idea came to light in 2005

    This is the beginning of the end of the industrial age.

    • @Bigrignohio
      @Bigrignohio 10 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Perhaps the "Macro-industrial" age, requiring a long and expensive chain of plants to manufacturer many of the products we use (but not all). Think of it as the new "Micro-industrial" age, where that chain becomes much shorter. This speeds up the evolution of devices while reducing waste and transportation expenses.

      There are no more newspapers and magazines because people just print that all out at home?

    • @AdamsOlympia
      @AdamsOlympia 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ssuuppeerrbbooyy No but the WEB / Internet has taken a HUGE chunk out of the printed newspaper/Magazine business. Ebooks are doing the same to books as the MP3/Flac has done to the CD.

    • @ssuuppeerrbbooyy
      @ssuuppeerrbbooyy 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adam Olympia Thats besides the point, because we are comparing making physical objects at home vs. making them in a manufacturing plant, not how we transfer information.

    With a decent CAD suite (Catia, Solidworks, Pro/E) you could do this in probably like 15 minutes at most. it's just one sketch, shaft around an axis, add 4 spheres, and make a circular pattern.

      No problem. Each generation of the Reprap is given the name of some evolution/biology scientist. Real life stopped me from following it back when they were working on the "Darwin". They seem to have recently "forked", going down two paths. I admit the Prusa i3 (actually the i3V 10" by Makerfarm) looks awful tempting to try. One goal is to eventually have multiple print heads, being capable of printing the material, removable support material (paste), placing electronic components/imbedded wiring, etc. Still a long way from that lofty goal.

    • @marcstylzzz
      @marcstylzzz 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bigrignohio
      that is some pretty revolutionary idea, once that happens.......the possibilities would be endless.

      marc Aslam
      Four years ago my money would have been on the Reprap group being the first to print complete devices. Now with all the other commercial systems hitting the market I am not so sure who will be first. However I have no doubt the commercial systems will require proprietary EVERYTHING. Material cartridges, software, product print files, etc. Reprap is more the Linux of the replication world, a place that is open-source and everyone can play with it.

  • @brantdanger

    That's very impressive. I just want to point out a couple things, as most people now write as though they never had an English class. You wrote "Let me know if you can print it out on your 3D Printer?" This is not a question. This is an imperative sentence. It should end with a period. Also, you titled the video "impossible" 3D print. The fact that you did print it means it is possible. Please correct your English mistakes and keep up the good work.

    • @HestandGamings
      @HestandGamings 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Impossible also can mean extremely hard as it is commonly used. Many 3d printers cant do that. It also seems impossible.

    • @hoytmueller9700

      Hoyt Mueller Your sentence is written correctly, well done.

    • @brantdanger
      @brantdanger 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hestand Gaming Impossible does not mean extremely hard (that why they are different words). I wrote my comments tongue-in-cheek, because I understand the desire for attention that prompts someone to overuse terms such as impossible. That doesn't mean I'm going to ignore it like everyone else does.

    It just printed out a ton of ball baring on a $1500 3d printer whats so good about it is that its so precise if any of the balls had been even a little bit off it would not spin but it worked... think about what it could do if it can do that?

  • @leptoon
    @leptoon 10 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Those aren't balls, that print just gives the illusion of balls. The sides of the "balls" are flat and connected to the holder.

      Not true at all it acts as a skateboard barring there are small balls in the middle of a track and when pushed they spin allowing them to roll

      @emoslendermansgrave933 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    cool video, and I think 3D print has a bright future. However, I have seen an amulet made of jade, created by some chinese monk, which was similar to this. A ring containing a brooch of about 3cm and the brooch was circling around like the rings in this video. Just there was no fixation at all. And again: No machine, all handmade more than 500 years back.

    omg! i did the same project as my final for drafting class! only i did it as a modular assembly. how did you calculate the radius for each concentric ring to have each ball flush while maintaining tolerance with out the printer fusing the plastics?

    Everything but the motors can be built on various 3D printers, yes.

    removing the support material. the bearings are printed with support material around them. Must be removed if you want the parts to move.

    Does anybody know the name of this shape - that is concentric rings that rotate so that the central ring can be oriented in any direction, ignoring the fact that the rings in this particular item are also bearings. I'm interested in just plain rings.

    Maybe so, but you could still make lego compatible things like rock formations, castle towers and walls, etc.

    Isn't there a chemical solution to get rid of the suspension material? If so, why did he try to manually pick out the material? It seemed to jam up because of that.
