Defeat Ganon Beginner Tutorial by Druncle_titus: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BliXa... OoT Community Discord: discord.com/invite/7FYGh3d I will stream around 4 days of the week at twitch.tv/LunaticJ @ 7:30 PM EST. This week i will be learning and running the Defeat Ganon speedrun, starting TONIGHT! Come hang out!
How does this game continue to get new strats and timesaves? After this long it's unbelievable, given another ten years we'll have a single-button combo to warp to the credits from the intro 🤣
The same way every other game does... it funny that people like you don't realize how you show that you are very ignorant and pretty dumb by saying stuff like this.
Huge agree on the whole intro skip being a thing. Honestly it does make me want to get into speedrunning. Recently Replaying ocarina of time on the GameCube and trying out glitches to do things out of order was so much fun
I have never attempted a speedrun of any game before. I have now learned the tricks up through the ganon wrong warp and am super psyched to learn this collapse skip tomorrow. Just thought you should know it only took about a day for that hope to be realized. Thanks dude 🤟
This makes me super happy! Super glad to see you inspired to run the game because of this video. I've been doing my runs for a couple days now, and I'd love to see more people take the initiative like you did! Def keep me posted on your progress
I am flabbergasted by the argument against the intro skip which was shown in the video, along the lines of "Older runners didn't get the chance to skip the intro so the new runners shouldn't either". Well, I guess I am also equally flabbergasted by how many people were against the skip. Then again I can't understand how people are capable of not getting bored to death of playing the same game over and over again so maybe I am just not the one whose opinion matters here. And it's very difficult to phrase that last sentence in a way that doesn't sound like criticism. I am very glad there are people like that!
For how insanely researched this game is and all of the tricks glitches and setups that exist. It's crazy that the 3 sword swing clip is as recent a discovery as it is
Are glitch hunters responsible for the vast majority of glitches found? or do speed runners find most of them while they’re perfecting their game? Has there ever been a successful glitch hunter who was also a high ranking speed runner?
A lot of glitches are discovered by glitch hunters actively looking for new stuff/ testing hypothesis. Some are also top runners in their games, but it depends on the community. Some just exclusively make discoveries
I used to run any% back in 2013 and 2014. I was watching when Cosmo got the first yolo hess on the collapse. Haven't run the game since. I was pretty disappointed when all the SRM/ACE stuff was going on. Now this video has convinced me to get back into running this category.
21:00 Another thing to add in favor of intro skip is that speedrunning is almost a spectator sport--sure, speedrunners want to prove themselves and many would still do so even if there was no audience, but popularity entices new speedrunners (you've exampled this yourself!), which leads to new bugs/strats and competition, feeding in on itself. And speedruns that are popular seem to be those with advanced tech/control for a small "whoa" factor... which hitting a button to dismiss text boxes a few times over three minutes isn't. Even learning the proper cadence to dismiss on the earliest possible frame is not difficult, and audiences are far more likely to become bored watching the same intro dozens of times than the runner would. So intro skip not only saves the runner's sanity, it helps keep the audience interested. One game you didn't mention that benefits tremendously from intro skip is Super Mario Sunshine: The runner chooses one of two save file types (one that requires creating/using a hacked save file) and then adds the relevant amount of time to their run based on the method. (I assume this is because there are two options; OoT only has the one, so there's no point adding the intro time back in.) (As an aside, I find it weird how often I hear about speedrunning communities arguing over things like this, or what constitutes a glitch, etc. It seems like intro skip, timer start on character control gained, timer end on character control lost, etc. would be near-universal but in all the history/overview videos I watch it seems every community has to re-argue/incorporate these things independently.)
I prefer a plain old glitch-less speedrun where I actually play the entire quest as Nintended. Personal best is 6 hrs 30 min set on a J cartridge in September 2020.
Hi Nicholas. You might find yourself interested in the Glitchless record which is about 3 hrs 36 min (th-cam.com/video/t_Z92AR62vg/w-d-xo.html) Also you’re pretty good at Super Mario Kart!
Simple, they are thought of by a human. Usually someone very familiar with with how the game works comes up with a theoretical glitch or skip, then uses TAS to test if it actually works.
If I ever started speedrunning the game earlier, I would've submitted only runs without the intro, even if they were all disqualified. I have better things to do than nothing.
You know what? I think I'll try learning the strats. Even if I don't intend to chain them all perfectly into an actual speedrun, learning them for fun and to know how to them sounds like a fun thing to do.
No. I will only be streaming on Twitch. I want to keep streams separate from where I post edited content. It is super easy to make an account tho, so you can fix that problem in 5 min. EDIT: Forgot to mention, but I will also upload the unedited stream to a VODS channel
maybe consider changing the thumbnail, that's link from OoT *3D*, which is a different speedrun with slightly different mechanics. just a small nitpick though lol 🙂
If you go back to the first publically available video on my channel, you’ll see I already made a video covering that. It was a very interesting decision
Any% went to shit when SRM & ACE where discovered. While impressive what they discovered & how it's executed, it's boring as hell to watch. They can stuff those runs in the darkest voids of hell if you ask me. I'll take SRMless any% tyvm, good to see the majority of the community moved over.
Fun Fact is, that we call that "speed run" ... shouldnt this be called "garbagemove" I mean, If someone would contruct, build, create, something like this in reality, you would hang, imprisoned or at least fired as minimal punishment… and here we create a "sport" called "speedrun" out of this nonesense……. the world is getting more stupid …. day by day ... guess "Idocrazy" isnt Commedy its our future, and we are more then half the way on track.
I recognize these words as English language and yet, for the life of me, I cannot even begin to understand what the hell is being said. The only sentence that makes sense is "the world is getting more stupid" and reading this comment I'd have to agree, this is pretty stupid

The gift that keeps on giving. The community. “Any% is finally dead.”
The speedrun.”My death was…greatly exaggerated.”

Instead of frame perfect it will have to be a plank perfect timing.

Awesome video! Here’s hoping that more people will try the game out now. It’s tons of fun, and totally worth it :)
I hope the "99% of the deku tree" was a MrGrunz reference
I didn't think anyone would notice lol

These videos are sick - Not a speedrunner or have any background watching any content relating to running but wow this stuff is amazing. Great videos!
I love how oot is constantly being optimised

Despite not having fully beaten OOT, trying the Defeat Ganon speedrun would actually be quite nice.
beat it yet?
Fun fact: QPA can check the flag for Boomerang damage, but it won't hurt Barinade.
Just found some of your videos and I’m addicted! Love your content and style of video 🤙
One day we gonna have runs that
Once you leave links house you are already in the credits

OoT has gotta have some the most insane coincidences in gaming
I love your videos. You teach us a ton of stuff I have no clue about
Not exactly related to the content itself, but im so glad to be hearing xenoblade 3 music in videos, that ost slaps so hard

I think intro skip should add the amount of time of a tas for The intro
Soon they will just warp the scene where link stabs ganon
when does it start. I live in east US and its 8:10 here

Funny to see this video after seeing Jobst video that somewhat laments this new tech as it removes "the exciting part of the run".
Dude collapse skip is so hard idk why everyone pretends its easy

so funny lol

Glitches are so cringe. Just play the game like normal
Honestly i dont class speedrunners as actual gamers. No offence
Ok berdly
People who glitch in games have a glitch in their brains. You're abusing the game, not in the way it was made to by played its disturbing to me.
