So you're breaking OUR copyright!" Studio Gallop took them to court over this and the American judge sided with 4Kids due to a technicality, Permanently giving 4Kids sole and irreversible rights over the english dub.
Everyone's getting mad at this but honestly? I'm just glad this dub tried to have some kind of ending despite not wanting to, or potentially not being able to, dub the final arc (which admittedly is way better than the two arcs before it and I wish it had been dubbed). It's way better than abruptly ending on the note of the main protagonist dying.
That's why I say, it'd be nice if old animes like Yu-Gi-Oh or Sonic X could get a redub like with Sailor Moon or DBZ Kai. Cuz otherwise, you'd be better off watching the original Japanese version.
I 1000% agree with you and they honestly should redub yugioh, in an unedited/uncensored version that said if you like the English voice acting and can get over the censorship the abridged version and 4kids version of yugioh is a nice treat

I’m not watching Yu-Gi-Oh without Dan Green. There’s literally no point in redubbing all 224 episodes of Duel Monsters when the entire series has already been dubbed. Because unlike Sailor Moon, every episode of Duel Monsters is already dubbed. And Konami is NOT selling Yu-Gi-Oh.
Honestly I consider this canon. Yusei was, at that moment, completely convinced that the Signers' job was done and they could lead their relatively-normal lives again, only for the Ark Cradle to burst out of the sky and dash his hopes by giving him one last mission, and making it a doozy.

I was so confused watching this in the dub like it all ended just like that? Nothing else about Sherry or where Bruno came from or why he was "Vizor", etc. This is and GX really got shafted in their dubs 😔
GX and 5Ds are the only ones without their final seasons dubbed. 5Ds also had quite alot of episodes missed prior to the WRGP arc causing some plot holes to happen

It boggles my mind that they turned the entire Aporia duel into a 2hr movie and then just ends right at the first 5mins of the following episode. Idk why some people keep preferring the dubs over the subs when they do shit like this and more
I’ll give 4kids this, they got something to end it off 5D’s with something positive, sure it ended off before the biggest climax possible but even this last bit of 5D’s was absolutely dark as there was no way they were gonna go through with it.
They may have dropped the show just before the best part, but most of what they did dub ended up being better than the original, as Yusei and Crow have all charisma of a piece of cardboard in the original, while Jack and Aki are even better than the good original version with extra banter. They did completely ruin a couple of episodes like the ghost kid one as it straight up doesn't make sense in English, but overall it's still an improvement. The best banter in the Japanese version is in the episodes they skipped, so those who only watch them will think that the banter was better in the rest of the original than it actually was, and while I love hopeless battle and Yusei battle the music in the dub is also superior as the sub loves to play the boring ominous type tracks for entire episodes.
I don't agree with you the voice acting in sub are better and the dub remove all the dramatic scene also they make elyaster just a 3 bad guys that want to destroy the future and city while they the opposite. The song in the sub are better like yusei theme jack theme quaser theme and clear mind
no it didn't, final season of 5ds was jack atlas vs red nova and red nova dragon debut and yusei vs z-one and shooting quasar dragon debut, and the final duel with jack and yusei with shooting star dragon vs red nova dragon and then the 5ds split up and timeskip and actual ending, you had none of that and none of the closure or actual ending in the dub. you're confusing those 5ds dub lines in duel links as proof you actually had a dub of that season when you never did, so with all due respect, shut up.

That explains why Yuma's English voice was so god awful. 4Kids ultimate held onto the reins at that point in time.
That and also Zexal was beginning around that time, so they just moved on to that and said "fuck it, we're done with 5Ds"
