Great video! I hope you will make more and teach us how to perform the "coup de 1", "coup de 2", etc with the crank

    1. Sorry for the non-professional question. If the time signature is 3/4, does something change in cranking or does it stay half for a bit? Down-up-down for 3/4?
    2. Why is the starting point not the lowest or highest, like 6 or 12 on a clock? It looks like the first bit is shorter than the next.

      1. 3/4, 3/8, 6/8 etc will all be a different "type" of cranking and that will be covered as you advance. 2. I'm not sure I understand your question, but typically "1" on the wheel is the down position (this becomes more clear when you coup - the next videos reaffirm this notion). 🙂

I have a general sheet music question: When we do an accidental sign to carry on throughout the bar and we have to use a natural sign to cancel it, why not just have it so that the accidental sign is for each note? Then wouldn't there be no need for natural signs or the context of other notes with accidentals on them?

The decision was made long ago that repeating the use of the accidental sign to affect the note over and over again within the measure wasn't the best use case scenario as it creates too much repetition for the manuscriptor and also in general if a note changes within one measure there's a reason behind it so likely it will stay that way. There's also things called courtesy accidentals, which are much more confusing, but that's another story.
