Luxu's role was to follow "No Name" to the dark seeker. He says Baldr isnt the chosen one. Xehanort fulfills the prophecy and is the one to open kh. He is the chosen one. Sora is said to not belong in the story, since the 3rd act of kh-kh3.

Then sora was able to join other hearts with his like roxas, xion, ventus & countless others he was able to feel the emotions of all the hearts connected to his.

Each Sora focused game, has atleast 1 line where the characters imply he's not even meant to be part of the story. And Luxu said he was a candidate for the chosen 1. And the Master of Masters straight up said himself the Dark Seeker is the chosen 1. I could be wrong. But in a series like KH, its easy to imagine we're going the Annakin Skywalker route. Sora may be carrying his heart to his destiny so he can fulfill it. Or he has that 14th life in quadratum.

It's sora as the child of destiny it's why he listened to Sora's speech and gave him the xblade it has been bequeathed to him.. and it's why he made the plan to boost sora to help him go forward and realized he's not stronger than sora by this factor too. It's also been stated idk through out the entire franchise that sora is the one who has the special power to connect people and there hearts and that's what they are looking for inside the child of destiny. There's nothing more to it and no plot twist. They wouldn't build a character for over 20 years to shit him out and it's been stated sora will always be the main character lol

This is possible. But I think the idea is to have Xehanort still be the defacto chosen one. This rabbit hole is deep. Consider that if Nomura is going to have Xehanort be in quadratum. Its possible that he's going to be a different Xehanort. Which was setup since DDD. Remember all the organization members in that timeframe are like doubles. If time cannot be changed quote "immovable" Xehanort met Ansem. To go back in time and live his life. As how can the organization be dead and yet remember DDD. Re:Mind answered this question. Well there was a 65 year time skip so Xehanort could have easily discovered Quadratum at that point. A prime Xehanort would be great cause we’ve never fought a prime Xehanort. Old Nort is at he’s most powerful but he’s old age held him back a lot
I mean source technically always been a sort of chosen One throughout the entire series, it's just changed slightly due to different verbiage and the increasing scope of the series
I don't think there is a chosen one in the sense that destiny forces there to be a chosen one. Just that there is a prophecy that a chosen one will rise up and vaguely meet all of the conditions to be the chosen one, which heavily implies that Sora is the chosen one. Not because he was picked by literal destiny, but he's the chosen one because of his character and the actions just happen to match all of the conditions in the Book of Prophecies.
